Compound Memories is the only one of its kind in our area, especially on Cape San Blas. It is a high-end, large luxury home that is absolutely perfect for large group events such as wedding and family reunions because you can have both a place to host your event and also accommodate your guest's stay. The setting can not be matched as it nestles in the south end of the highly coveted Secluded Dunes Subdivision near the State Park. In front of the house is a wide beach of large natural dunes, a white sugar sand beach and emerald Gulf waters. This is a 7 bedroom Gulf front house with tons of features including, 3 Gulf front Master suites, a hot tub, game room with a pool table, foosball, elevator that services all floors and even a kids game room. This amazing home is loaded for an unforgettable vacation.
Awesome! Our large family group rented Compound Memories, Sunset Bridge and Maui Escape. All 3 houses were beautiful. All with outside showers. Beach chairs, umbrellas and beach toys available for use. We had a wonderful time.
We stayed here the last wk of Jan. The house was very nice. We have been to CSB several times and enjoy the non-crowded beaches and allowing our dog to run on the beach with us. This visit was a bit special, as it was our honeymoon. We both could not have imagined a better venue, to just go to the beach with this cool weather and spend it together with our red retriever.
This house has 4 floors. It has an elevator that is very useful. The house shows quite a bit of wear, but that was no big deal to us. It was fine. There were two disappointments with our visit. Since this was a very special trip for us, and since there was cooler weather, we wanted to be sure that we rented a unit with a fireplace. This one has a very nice one in all the pics. I had read in some other reviews from back in '13 that someone had enjoyed having the fireplace when they rented, so I never imagined that it would now have the gas turned off permanently. Well, it was, and is. I emailed the manager and received a prompt response that it is non working. I would have thought if that were the case, it would have been mentioned in the description, but it was not. Big disappointment, made to sting even more by talking with other renting neighbors who were enjoying their fireplace at night in their rental.
Second strike against this particular rental is the wireless internet. It is a 4 level house. The wifi router is on floor 2, where there is a pool table and a couple of the smaller bedrooms. The wireless internet signal is not strong enough to function on the 3rd level (kitchen and some bedrooms) and is not detectable at all with an iphone or ipad on the 4th floor. Of course, we wanted to stay in the nicest bedroom, which is on the 4th floor. It is not possible to drift off to sleep reading the ipad in bed--no wireless internet signal. While there, I needed to do 30 min of work remotely each day through my computer and the only way to get a proper functioning signal was to sit on the 2nd floor near the pool table.
We enjoyed our visit. But would not rent this house again. When we rent a house for a week at a cost of over $2500, we expect a few things. I expect there to be functional wireless internet throughout the house. I also expect anything in the pictures advertising the house to be functioning, unless specifically noted.
From Port St Jo (and the Piggy Wiggly grocery store) it takes about 20 to 30 min one way. You are out on the cape - almost to the end. It was great - just what we wanted. However, you need to want a relaxed beach front vacation. If you want to be close to 'the action' this is not for you. The houses were beautiful. They are beach 'homes' in that they are lived in and used -- but they are well cared for. They are clean and very comfortable. The kitchens were well stocked and we did not need anything (we brought our crock pots from home - but indeed there was one there anyway). The houses have lg. TV's in the main rooms - our only 'gripe' was that these could be updated. I must mention ALL the great beach toys (about 15 body surf board, two full surf board, a kayak ... this was very appreciated and we all THANK the owner(s) for providing these. We purchased a beach canopy and left it as a donation for all the hours we spent using your toys!) The 'bridge' deck was THE BEST. It allowed us to 'live' in both houses while spreading out. We had one rain day - but the houses are so big our entire group spread out or congregated to play. We were never cramped. We had a great pool tournament in the activity room and the kids loved the foosball table also. We called the management company once to repair a loose step on the deck - they came within 12 hours and the worker was so polite and helpful. He made sure to check with us to see if there was any other repairs. The hot tub was a bit on and off as far as running properly - seem that it needs repaired or replaced - but our kids had their time in it and that was fine. There is a convenience store (very well stocked in fact) and also liqueur store about 2 miles from the house. An ice cream shop within 1 mile. We took a day trip to Boss Oyster in Apalachicola. Apalachicola is about a 25 minute (easy, back road) drive from the house. My wife and daughters loved the little stores and boutiques. It's not a big town but its cute. Last, I must mention the BEACH. Wow. It's so perfect and very close to the houses. The ice machines in the houses make filling up a beach cooler very simple. Overall we had a great time - the house condition, decor and beach met all our expectations. Just remember... you are experiencing old Florida. Oh yeah... dont worry about your cell phones - very limited signals (I loved that!). But there is wireless internet if you - or the kids - need to stay connected.
We planned our wedding and rented the two connected homes: Compound Memories and Sunset Bridge. The properties are decorated beautifully and did accomodate a large group. There was plenty of room for our guests and comfortable beds. Our dogs were able to join us and loved the beach!
It's the perfect place to enjoy a gorgeous sunset. All ages enjoyed the multiple decks, nice beach, game room and hot tub.
The kitchen was well equiped with pots and pans, cookie sheets, and basic utensils that you would need to prepare meals and snacks. We even discovered a great seafood store on the way to Cape San Blas from Port St Joe to purchase fresh seafood! We also explored Port St. Joe and discovered a local restaurant called Ronnie B's - check it out!
This is a great location for a nice getaway for all ages.
My wife and I (plus our dogs) enjoyed this wonderful home. While the house can accommodate many more people than just the 2 of us, we wanted a place at this end of the cape. The house was clean, A/C worked well, the kitchen was well set up, and the house was a "home" as the owners obviously had spent much time there over the years. Easy access to the beach...just down the boardwalk.
