Roast marshmallows in the beach firepit under a brilliant star-filled sky.

Enjoy a game of ping pong or fooseball, or explore our extensive library of books, DVD's, wii games, board games, and puzzles. Wrap yourself in a cozy blanket and find one of the many quiet nooks in this home to snuggle in a chair by the fire, let go, and relax!

About Kami Gilmour

We're from Fort Collins, Colorado and a large, active family with 5 kids and 2 grandchildren. We love living the 'Colorado lifestyle' ...skiing, hiking, snowshoeing, boating, fishing, snowmobiling and ATV'ing ...and hanging out by the lake in our log home!

Kami Gilmour purchased this house in 2011

Why Kami Gilmour chose Rocky Mountain National Park

We searched for a Colorado vacation home for 10 years with a list of 'must haves' before finding our dream home. The Sun Valley Ranch neighborhood embodied everything we could imagine--lakefront, riverfront, mountain views, direct access to hiking/biking/snowmobile trails, and the 'get away' feeling but less than10 minutes away from town!

Breathtaking Views in a Cozy Home!

  • 5 of 5

This home is absolutely the very best way to experience Colorado! From the moment you step into the door - this place is perfect! We were greeted by Judy - a very friendly neighbor that showed us around and answered "start up" questions. The cabin (large home) couldn't have been more inviting. We absolutely loved every aspect of the home and all of the surroundings. There's nothing like the feel of a log home, and this is by far one of the coziest we have experienced. Every room was well-equipped and decked out with all of the traditional furnishings one would expect.

Our family of nine adults wanted for nothing during our four-night stay . . . other than wanting to stay a few more nights. The kitchens were well-equipped, as well as the remainder of the home. We were oftentimes torn between being outside and enjoying nature or staying inside to enjoy the homey, warm feel of the cabin - complete with two wood-burning fireplaces.

The lake was beautiful, and we certainly did our share of peddling the peddle boat around the lake. The canoe was fun, and a couple of us tried the paddle boards, even though the lake was very cold! We were able to catch (and release) a beautiful rainbow trout to add to our photo collection of "first-time experiences." We weren't lucky enough to see a moose or an elk (and we know they had to be around), but we heard the wolves and coyotes late into the evening. While on the lake, you had 360 degree, breathtaking views of the mountains.

We ventured into the town of Grand Lake. The town felt like you were in an old, western movie - complete with boardwalk sidewalks. The town is situated directly on beautiful Grand Lake with beautiful views of the mountains.

We each painted a rock for the rock collection and enjoyed all of the outdoor amenities - especially both fire pits!

Thank you to the Gilmore family for allowing us the opportunity to enjoy your cozy home!

Wonderful place for a family reunion!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great, memorable reunion at this wonderful cabin. It was so well stocked with activities and games there was things that appealed to everyone. The cabin was well supplied with extra amenities and necessities, it was obvious that the guest's comfort was a high priority. The location was picture perfect on the lake and we had a blast with the paddle board, canoe and paddle boat. I highly recommend this cabin for anyone with a large group looking for a retreat. Thank you for helping make family memories!!

Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

What a perfect vacation site for our family vacation. We were celebrating our 65 and 70th birthdays with our family of 18. The home far exceeded our expectations. The rustic atmosphere was perfect. We utilized the back deck and back yard space constantly. One evening 3 moose grazed across the lakefront of the property --we were amazed and they looked bored. What a treat! Kami has an extensively stocked home for families and we wanted for nothing. The propane firepit on the deck was perfect for coffee every morning and for watching the sunset every evening. We all agreed we would like more beach and dock space but we enjoyed what was available. The canoe, paddle boards and paddle boat were especially enjoyed. Going into Grand Lake and Winter Park were short jaunts and enjoyed. Thank you so much for allowing us into your vacation rental.

Wedding at Twin Pines

  • 5 of 5

I had a pretty last minute wedding change (I went from 150 people in September to 14 people in October) last fall and I was in desperate need of a venue that could house my family who was coming in town, had the exact look I wanted, and was available on the date my photographer had open- all of which needed to be in the right price range. Kami, the owner, was beyond communicative, supportive, flexible, and so generous! She was there they day we arrived to show us around the property, how to work appliances, etc. I had the most perfect wedding day and couldn't have imagined anything better. You will not be disappointed at your stay!

Perfect for our Family Reunion

  • 5 of 5

My family of 22 spent 5 wonderful days at Twin Pines celebrating my mothers 95th birthday. There was comfortable sleeping for all of us, well-equipped kitchens, plenty of games, outdoor and water sports equipment. We particularly enjoyed the fire pit on the deck as we sat around enjoying each other's company. The "kids", young and old loved the kyak, canoe, paddle boards and peddle boat. The best part was seeing moose every day on and around the property. Even had one look on at our last evening campfire. Everyone agreed it's the BEST place to stay whether you want a quiet getaway or lots of activities and adventure.

From the moment we walked into Twin Pines, with its unique character, we all were very impressed with the way owner carefully outfitted the property with every want/need we could imagine. We arrived to celebrate our parents 60th Anniversary. Ages ranged from 18 months to 85 years young. What a memorable location to relax and focus on them!! It is easy to state, without exaggeration, that this will be remembered as one of the nicest places we have stayed, to date. Our only regret is that we could not stay longer. Each of us commented that we could have stayed much longer and never have exhausted the pleasure of the residence and the surroundings. We were even provided a moose encounter in the backyard for our enjoyment on the last evening of our stay. The cabin and lake access were exceptionally nice, beyond expectation. EVERYTHING is provided from bug repellent to boots to warm jackets to condiments. There was also fishing tackle, canoe, kayak, paddle boat, mountain bikes and plenty of firewood. The fire pit even had tinder and fire starter in place, ready to go! Thank-you for a very enjoyable week! I have already recommended this location to 2 other gents from my office. Highly recommend O&A Bistro in Grand Lake Village for brunch.
