About Kate Whiting

We bought our home in Lake Tahoe in 2010 and immediately started renovating and remodeling the home, bringing all the luxuries of home, to the 'Cabin.' We fell in love with Lake Tahoe years ago, while renting a home near the lake for our summer vacation. While we have traveled all over the world, we've found that Lake Tahoe is one of our favorite places to be! Owning this home is our dream come true, and we look forward to sharing it with your family!

Kate Whiting purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Kate Whiting chose Lake Tahoe North Shore

Nothing beats the crystal blue waters of the lake, and the crisp, clean air! Skiing at Homewood growing up, Kate fell in love with the small town feel of Lake Tahoe and the friendly people.

What makes this cabin unique

What we love about our home: EVERYTHING! We have a great game room with a Pool Table, Popcorn Machine, seating, a big screen TV and more! A great time for family and friends! We also have a SPA room, complete with whirlpool tub for 2 and a 6 person Sauna! Even more, our new addition of the luxurious stacked stone fireplace is ultimately my favorite part of the home. Snuggling up with a good book next to the fire with a great view of the treetops is spectacularly relaxing!

Furthermore, our home is only two blocks from the beach! In the summer time, when parking is so limited, we can walk to Patton Beach and rent kayaks or a boat. It's close to shopping, restaurants, and the world-famous Garwoods Bar & Grill. In the winter, we're about 10 minutes from Northstar-at-Tahoe, and 15 minutes from Squaw! We're also very close to Incline Village and a short 7 minute drive to Tahoe City for shopping!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Whit's End is the perfect place to disconnect and unwind from the pace of city life. The cabin and the outdoor living space is top notch. Very clean and furnished first class. We stayed six nights but wish it could of been ten. Our son liked the dart board and pool table and the neighborhood was perfect for leisurely walks in the evening. Kate and Garrett are wonderful people to deal with and we are looking very forward to our next stay.

Amazing get away, centrally located

  • 5 of 5

Our group had an amazing time, the house is well situated to hit Northstar, the Truckee River float, and access to the lake. All the beds were very comfortable, the kitchen has everything you could need. The hotel was clean and warm, and the game room downstairs made for some fun evenings.

Great price and location; Disappointed with a few issues

  • 4 of 5

This house is beautiful and it's located in a very convenient area right by the lake. Plenty of snow to play in and enjoy in the front and back yards. The house was clean, and has fun features like the sauna, loft room (which has a short ceiling and bed, and is more suited for children), and great options for video games and movies.

However, we ran into a few issues: 1) The dishwasher was still being repaired upon our arrival, 2) The heater was not easy to manipulate, and we had to bother the property manager and owners to remotely control it several times throughout the stay. It would be much easier to have instructions laid out in the house book. 3) 2 of the stove's burners were not working, which was very disappointing for a group that loves to cook, and 4) We received the address and pre-arrival instructions late the night before our stay. This was after reaching out twice.

I've communicated these issues to the property manager, after which she apologized. She was also quite responsive throughout the weekend. This partially made up for the inconveniences. However, having reserved homes in Tahoe for the past 9 years, this was quite the disappointing experience.

At least this place was affordable.

A Beautiful Stay At Lake Tahoe

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had planned this vacation 8 months in advance to celebrate

my oldest nephews 18th. birthday. My Mother was a big part in making all

this happen, after all, it was her first grandchild :). Two weeks

before our vacation my mother passed away. This was heart wrenching for us

all. My mom made me promise that we would attend this vacation even if

anything happened to her, as she new her health was failing. When we

arrived to Whit's end the comforts of the cabin itself made us feel so

peaceful and the area was so serene you couldn't help but to relax. The

rooms were perfect and fit all of us so well. We enjoyed the Jacuzzi tub

and Sauna and the guys loved the pool table. Definitely one of our best

vacations ever. We made priceless memories there at Whit's End and we will

treasure them forever. Thank You all ~ It has been a pleasure "The Whole

experience, from booking to the very end was great" Great People service

!!!!! See you again Soon. :)

nice

  • 5 of 5

This house was great for a multi generation family vacation. We found the house clean and in good order. The pictures are accurate. As you enter the house (middle floor) there are 4 small bedrooms and one bathroom, a queen bed room, 2 rooms with double and bunk over then the last room has a king bed. Going through the room with the king bed you reach the stairs to the basement room. The basement room has a pool table, TV, sauna and large bathroom. Back to the front entrance go up the stairs to the living room, dinning and kitchen all open with beautiful window. on this floor there is also a bunk room and a bathroom plus a ladder to the loft. The sliding glass doors open up onto a deck from this level. The house worked great for us as our adult sons could be playing pool downstairs and the grandkids could be watching movies upstairs...everyone could find a happy place. Oh and the hot tub was wonderful! We just wished that we had snow!

Fun Stay!

  • 4 of 5

We had a fun time celebrating my dad's 60th birthday at Whit's End! Overall, our stay was good and we enjoyed our first time in Tahoe. We loved the sauna and fun games/movies the house had! Location was a good spot to easily drive to South Lake Tahoe and the Nevada side. We did have a few issues with the house, such as the entry code was wrong upon arrival, we had to buy toilet paper/dish soap on the 2nd day and we had some issues working with the AC/heating. We also did not realize the master bathroom is not connected to the master bedroom, but rather is located downstairs through the game room! Thanks

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your review and I'm thrilled you had a fun time! We sincerely apologize for your issue with the entry code. We have since fixed the issue so that it does not happen again. In terms of TP and soap, we try to leave enough for the first few days of every arrival and occasionally they need to be replenished while you are staying at the home. We do not have A/C in the home, as almost all homes in the area do not have. We have so many windows upstairs that you can simply open them all and within 15 minutes the house has cooled down. That information is also in the pre-arrival instructions. The master bedroom is on the main floor and does not have the bathroom attached. The second master has the option of using the bathroom downstairs or the bathroom on the main floor. There is no true master in the home. We hope you had a great time, Kate

The Best Place in Tahoe for getting Family and Friends together in one place.

  • 5 of 5

We had the opportunity to have a couple of stays at Whit's End and we LOVE IT! We had friends and family from the East Coast come to Tahoe to stay here. They fell in love with the place. Close to everything, great spacious floor plan which opens up to a large deck for everyone to be together (kids, family & friends). Walking distance to the lake and rentals for the lake. What a great time and place for a large group of people to stay together and share the Tahoe experience.

Conveniently located in Agate Bay (between Kings Beach and Tahoe City) is just 2 short blocks to the lake. This north shore Lake Tahoe luxury cabin rental is situated on over a half acre of land and is nestled next to a forest land parcel.

Located 2 blocks from the lake, our cabin is located in a quiet wooded area great for walking in the afternoons, taking in the mountain air. Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort is the closest skiing/snowboarding and is a 10 minute drive from our cabin. Alpine and Squaw are about 20 minutes away by car.

There are plenty of gourmet restaurants nearby, less than 1 mile away from the cabin. Safeway & Starbucks are only 3 miles away.
