Packwood is known for its herds of elk that roam the area and it is not uncommon to see a herd pass by the cabin on any given morning or evening.

In winter come and ski White Pass Ski Resort, a short drive away. This jewel of the Northwest has 2000 vertical feet of skiing, modern lifts, great snow and some of the most stunning views of Mt Rainier you will ever see.

We love dogs...bring them along!

'This cozy cabin with stunning views and a great woodstove is #1 in our book. We just spent 4 lovely relaxing days this Thanksgiving and we can't wait to come back. Stay here and be mesmerized by the views and wonderful amenities!'

About Bob Trombi

We built this first getaway a few years back because we knew that if we were to stay sane in such a busy world that we would need to have a place to go to and bring the kids to just get away from it all. We hope you enjoy this incredible spot!

Bob Trombi purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Bob Trombi chose Mount Rainier

We personally designed and built this cabin in Packwood, one of the most beautiful areas of the country. In summer the beauty of the mountain is indescribable and in winter the skiing at White Pass is great for a family or an expert. We have been coming to the area for 15 years and we love it more and more everytime we visit.

What makes this cabin unique

Just the other day 3 cow elk came by with 4 babies, a bald eagle flew by, a fox trotted up the road, the sunset was amazing and there were more stars in the sky than I have ever seen before...and this is all in one day!

Guestbook comments from the owner

My husband and I came back to the cabin for a second time with a last minute decision for some R&R. We needed a getaway to relax from our busy lives and Grandma watched our one year old son so we could rest. We went sledding at White Pass Ski Area. We found a spot just for the two of us and it was sunny blue skies, absolutely beautiful. Our last run we went down together and totally wiped out. We're leaving with only a few scrapes and bruises, thank God. The highlights of our stay was watching eagles from the front deck, soaking in the hot tub and starring at the stars. We watched movies on the new flat screen TV and they have a good selection of classics and new movies and we lit a fire in the woodstove. It is the perfect setting for a romantic time for any couple, we recommend it. We cooked some great meals in the fully equipped kitchen, slept good on the comfy bed and totally relaxed. We also love just taking a walk on the property. The view of the mountains and town are really inspiring. If you hike up the driveway to the other cabins above the views of Mt Rainier are stunning. We are looking forward to coming back again next year as we would love to make this a tradition in this pristine place. Thanks again, Bob and Sybille, we had a great time. You both have done a fantastic job in building and equipping your cabins. We have and will continue to recommend your properties to all our friends. You guys are so easy to work with and your website is the best and easiest to use. The pictures do not give this place justice. Shane and Kaia

Great Property

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay. I will admit we didn't use the house much as we were on the slopes or out to eat most of the time. The property was clean and had a great view. Good location as it is tucked away but at the same time a few blocks from town.

As advertised - no complaints.

  • 5 of 5

The location was awesome for skiing at White Pass - easy 30 minute drive. Cabin was clean, convenient and a good size for our 2 adult, 2 teen family w/ small dog. While it can sleep up to 8 people, for us I think 4 or 5 people would have been the maximum before starting to feel too crowded. There's a decent grocery store nearby as well as a good pizza place. We may have to come back for a summer stay sometime to go hiking!

Great place!

  • 4 of 5

Our experience staying at this cabin was great! Upon arrival, we were pleased to see a notebook that included info on the area - hikes, etc. The cabin was as described, and included essentials in the kitchen for cooking. We would have liked to see a deadbolt on the inside front door - like hotels have, for added security. The internet speed, in general, was dial-up speed. The upload speed was zero. We loved being so close to Mt. Rainier National Park, and went there daily for hikes. We will keep this cabin in mind for future visits.

Owner's Response: Thanks for staying with us! Our lock was jammed by the previous guests so we did install new locks with a new deadbolt the day you checked out. Not sure why the internet was slow. We have never had issues. Our kids have i-phones, tablets and stream netflix at the cabin with no issues. So we just went ahead and had Century Link install a new modem, it had been a few years. Issues solved...thanks for the imput!
