Cozy mountain cabin retreat, remote with view of large creek, complete with trout, that runs through the property. Hiking, fishing, whitewater rafting, mountain biking, wildlife viewing, gem hunting, all in the immediate area. Cabin has open floor plan so the cook is always part of the party. Outdoors is a large deck overlooking the creek and the distant mountains. Why go inside when you have a setting like this?
We wanted to let everyone know that we just got back home from staying in this wonderful cabin. We all had a blast and the cabin is beautiful. The kids loved playing in the creek and cooking smores on the firepit. My husband and I enjoyed sitting on the deck listening to the creek. The weather was great while we were there and we were able to sleep at night with the sliding glass doors open. Mr. Tripp and his wife were awesome and assisted us with anything we needed. We look forward to coming back and staying again. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful place with us!!!!!
As usual we had a great time. We have stayed there several times and have never had any problems. The dogs love it. I guess the only thing is I had a terrible time getting those sticker bugs out of my dog's. I think they still have some LOL. All in all Lois thank you so much for letting us stay at your place.
We love this place for a great getaway! Thank you Jack and Lois!
Home was very nice . Secluded area. Really need high clearance vehicle to access, but overall very nice experience. Family had a very nice time here. Would recommend.
This was the best stocked rental we have ever had with the exception of washcloths. However the avaiable condiments, paper supplies more than made up for this lack. The washer and drier with soap etc really made it almost non existent.
The cabin is so cozy, decorated nicely and had a homey, calming effect. The kitchen is so easy and efficient and meals were easy to prepare.
The refrigerator is new and large and really helped us keep stocked up.
We did not mind the trip to town on paved and no paved roads as the scenery is so beautiful. We knew in advance that we would not go to town everyday, as our purpose of going to a cabin was to slow down, enjoy our scenery and to spend time with one another.
What a treat to leave 90 plus decrees in Florida and have low 80's and even 79 in our cabin in the woods. The dog even enjoyed exploring the creek
.How lovely to open the slider in the bedroom and hear the creek gurgling outside. The porch off the downstairs bedroom is a delight to sit on anytime of the day. We did not have another couple with us to share the wonderful upstairs sitting area and bedroom, but it was so inviting and lovely.
Yes we did go to the casino, worked the ruby mine mud for treasure,.fished the trout pound for five nice fish, met friends in Franklin, had a great social time along with out time together. Thanks for the use of the cabin.
We hated to see our week in the woods end and say goodbye to peace, quiet and mother nature at its best.
I noticed there haven't been any recent reviews so I just want to say having stayed here I think at least 5 times maybe more it is our go to place. Our most recent trip was in March this year and have stayed a few more times prior to this. We are actually booked to come back next week. Lois the owner has always been very helpful with getting us booked and the cabin is well stocked except for food and even then there might be a snack or two there. Greg the property manager is very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. We have never had a reason to call him for repair or any other problems but I'm sure he would be on top of it if needed. I think the listing description is accurate. Road can be a little rough but I have a Jeep. My son visited one day we were here and had no problem with his Altima sedan and there was a bit of rain washout on the road up close to end that day. If your looking for a clean, comfortable and secluded stay with lots of woods and streams to explore this might be for you. Great fishing and water sports are nearby.
Lois, thanks for sharing your home with us.

Cabin is located about mid-way between Franklin NC and Bryson City NC, about six miles off of HWY 28N. It is above the Telico Trout Farm and near the Telico Gap. Great place for hiking and it is possible to walk up to the Appalacian Trail from the cabin site. One of the major attractions is Cherokee, NC. The cabin is some what remote so you will need plenty of provisions since trips to town are a time consuming event usually an hour round trip. We are closer to Bryson City than Franklin but the road to BC is very winding, at some spots you can see your own tail lights.
There are so many things to do here, such as rafting down the Nanahala Gorge, hiking to the Teleco Gap observation tower, hunting gems at the many gem mines in the area, mountain biking, and the kids really love going to the Fun Factory in town. Franklin also has a new Performing Arts center. And if you are brave enough to head for the deep woods in the winter time there is sledding and skiing (sleds provided!)
