Cabin is located about mid-way between Franklin NC and Bryson City NC, about six miles off of HWY 28N. It is above the Telico Trout Farm and near the Telico Gap. Great place for hiking and it is possible to walk up to the Appalacian Trail from the cabin site. One of the major attractions is Cherokee, NC. The cabin is some what remote so you will need plenty of provisions since trips to town are a time consuming event usually an hour round trip. We are closer to Bryson City than Franklin but the road to BC is very winding, at some spots you can see your own tail lights.

There are so many things to do here, such as rafting down the Nanahala Gorge, hiking to the Teleco Gap observation tower, hunting gems at the many gem mines in the area, mountain biking, and the kids really love going to the Fun Factory in town. Franklin also has a new Performing Arts center. And if you are brave enough to head for the deep woods in the winter time there is sledding and skiing (sleds provided!)

I would go back. First, let's point out the negatives of the rental from my point of view. I really didn't like the long ride up to the cabin, there is no cellular service (AT&T and Verizon) , and there is only one T.V. which is life changing in the eyes of a teenager. If you're looking for a vacation that takes you away from the everyday stressors and encourages a good book and lots family time , this is it.

We had absolutely no service on our cellular devices at this house, which was a great chance to bring in the board games and family movie nights. There is a creek right behind the house which was an amazing sound that you could easily hear from the porch that only brought on relaxing thoughts. The fire pit overlooks the trail that leads to the creek and was a great background for roasting marshmallows. Okay, I loved the creek.

We have visited this area several times and this was different from the cabins that we have rented in the past, however we wanted to stay longer than usual and the price was perfect. I'll admit, I was a little nervous and skeptical until I arrived and settled in .

I found the advertisement to be honest and clear and the property manager was pleasant and helpful. There was a land line phone and a simple house manual that answers all of your questions. The house was clean and well stocked, including games and puzzles. I saw no bugs or spiders inside the home which is a big thumbs up for my son who is scared to death of spiders (don't tell him I told you that).

I found myself very rested and relaxed and we all enjoyed everyday of our vacation. My son loved the loft and thought the space was "pretty cool" . My husband is a police officer and I am a nurse, we needed this.

I'm not a judgmental or critical person so my views are mine and honest. We would definitely stay here again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your thoughtful comments. We are happy that things worked out. After many years we would think that cell phone coverage would expand to cover our remote area, but so far no luck. Maybe for the better, since it is a place to get away from it all. Thanks for staying with us and thank you and your wife for the service to keep us safe and well.

It's WAY out there. My kids loved the firepit and the creek next to the cabin. Was further away from civilization than expected. Loved having coffee on the deck in the mornings. Beautiful!
