Perfect Way to Kick-Off Our Retirement!

  • 5 of 5

This vacation was a long time coming and was just the ticket to start our retirement! We traveled all the way from California to visit a part of the country we had not seen before and we'd do it all again! The cabin is even more beautiful than the pictures show and is perfectly maintained. The first goal of our vacation was to de-stress and we sure picked the right cabin for that!! We spent the first few days just drinking in the views (and a little wine), soaking in the hot tub and breathing in the fresh air. The area was hit by a summer storm and watching it unfold in the mountains was breathtaking!! The views through the panoramic windows and from the deck are just incredible!!

When we did venture out of the cabin, new experiences awaited! Cades Cove is a must see!! From the safety of our car, we met a momma bear and her three active cubs and, for history buffs, it is a step back in time. We visited Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, both hubs of activity, but we really enjoyed the laidback vibe of Townsend and Wears Valley. We spent one day at Dollywood and really enjoyed ourselves, even w/o the kids or grandkids!

I can't say enough about this beautiful area and how wonderful the cabin was!! I did all the planning for this trip, so my husband had no idea what to expect. He though I was crazy to plan a trip so far away from home or family but he became a believer the minute we stepped into this picture perfect retreat!! Karen was wonderful to work with and made the cabin our perfect retirement retreat for the week!!

THANK YOU, Karen, for allowing us to spend this time in your vacation home....where is star #6 when you need it!?

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your comments and for taking the time to submit a review. I am so glad that you enjoyed your time. The storm that affected the electricity in the cabin also affected much of Wears Valley, Gatlinburg, and Pigeon Forge. I contacted the electric company and they said that because so many customers were affected, it took longer than they would have preferred to get everyone back up and running again. I am so glad that overall you enjoyed your time and our beautiful mountain view.

Awesome views !

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed eight nights at Mystic Sunrise and as soon as you walk into the cabin you are awestruck by the beautiful mountain views from the living room windows. The kitchen was large with plenty of counter space that I loved. We had more than plenty plates and bowls and silverware that were of very good quality along with very nice pots and pans to use. There was a drawer full of all kinds of kitchen tools. There was a vast assortment of just about anything you would need in a kitchen. Each bedroom had king size beds that were comfortable and I loved the pillows ! It was a big feather pillow that was so soft ! We had TV's in the bedrooms and there was a big tv on the lower level that my son-in-law played his xbox on. The cabin was very clean. The road getting to the cabin was steep and winding but so are all the other roads that lead up to a cabin on top of a mountain. It was not bad getting up or down. Karen gave very good directions to the cabin. We were close to Cades Cove and went there almost every day. We found that late in the evening around 7 ish seemed to bring out all the wild life. We saw two momma bears and total of 5 cubs . The cubs were always up in trees and the mommas were grazing in the fields below. One evening we saw deers, a coyote, turkeys and bears in three different areas of the Cove. It was awesome. The saddest part was seeing all the damage done from the Chimney Tops fire in November 2016. I'm glad it did not burn the homesteads in Roaring Fork in Gatlinburg although we saw homes destroyed leading up to Roaring Fork entrance along with woods and mountainsides burned inside Roaring Fork. Cobbly Nob also had so much damage. I was happy to see the Chair Lift in Gatlinburg having its opening day while we were there. There is a Dollar General very near the road you turn onto for the cabin. That was very convenient. I have stayed in a lot of cabins over the years and this by far had the best views and was the cleanest and nicest.

Beautiful view, nice cabin, well-equipped

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is fully stocked with everything you need including games and puzzles. Kids loved to play pool and foosball. The giant picture windows allow for a gorgeous view. Being part of a neighborhood, you feel a little less secluded and safe. It's about a 25 minute drive to Pigeon Forge...we didn't mind making the trip for restaurants vs. cooking all meals. Check out Smokey Mountain Brewery, it was yummy! You also pass Kroger on that same drive. The Alpine Coaster at night is all lit up and SO much fun to ride a coaster down the mountainside! Had a great experience with our family. Perfect size cabin for our two adult/two kid family! :)
