About Mike Richards

We love to spend time as a family in southern Utah. We hope you'll experience as many precious family moments in Duck Creek Village as we have!

Mike Richards purchased this cabin in 2007

Why Mike Richards chose Utah

Our family discovered Duck Creek Village over a decade ago while exploring Bryce Canyon and Zions National Park. We fell in love with it's peaceful charm. We knew it was a place where we'd want to spend a lot of time together as a family. Building a family cabin made perfect sense. We have loved getting away to the mountain as often as possible.

What makes this cabin unique

Some things we love about the cabin are it's proximity to ATV trails that lead to fantastic overlooks and wander through beautiful national forest land. We enjoy fishing at four pristine lakes that are close by and exploring interesting places like caves, water falls, slot canyons, lakes and streams. At the end of fun filled days it's always enjoyable to sit around the camp fire and talk about the good times.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hey! We had an awesome time here! Thank you so much for the nice cabin! There were so many places for sledding, tubing, and snowmobiling here. This is a great cabin. We had tons of snow in only 4 days. we had to call the plowers 3 times because it snowed so much but it was so fun!! We sent snowmobiling for 2 days and sledded and tubed for the other 2 days. Thank you so much for letting us rent this cabin. It was amazing. The cabin was WONDERFUL!!!

Amazing

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was absolutely beautiful!

Very specious.

There was room for everyone!

The location was absolutely perfect .

We stay during the week, so we didn't get much of the noise of the quads rolling by.

Weekends the roads are busy with recreational vehicles .

The cabin was clean and smelled fresh.

Beds were comfy. At least the one in the Master bed, were we stayed, was comfy for sure.

Hubby and I totally Loved the jetted hot tub!

Cabin was well stocked with pots, pans and dishes.

Toaster, hand held blender, crock pot etc...

The coffee marker does not work. So if your into having your coffee in the morning. Bring your own coffee maker.

The fire place gave us trouble getting started. Mike was available for a phone call with in a short while to get it fixed. I loved the fact that he put so much into making sure our stay was Pleasant.

We loved having a fire to look at, In the cool of the evenings.

The grill outside is not the best for cooking with.

Our family loved staying here.

I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone that has a large group.

Thank you again Mike for assisting us with the mechanical issues . Beautiful beautiful home.

Nicely upgraded cabin

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was perfect for our annual family vacation. The rooms were clean and comfortable with linens. A few suggestions for future guests...

1. The cabin has appliances but you will need to bring spices, salt/pepper, sugar, paper towels, paper plates, ziplock bags, etc. The kitchen was not well stocked.

2. The coffee maker was cheap and took 1.5 hours to brew a pot of coffee.

3. Bring firewood and an ax. There was a small amount of firewood stacked on the side of the house but they were not chopped down for the fire pit. We had to go buy an ax.

4. The back of the house has a 4 foot hole of water that stinks. Possibly the septic tank needs maintainence.

5. I hope you like ATV noise... the cabin is located on streets that people speed down with their quads.

Overall, it was a nice vacation and our family enjoyed our time in Duck Creek. We rented a boat on Penguitch Lake and fished in Aspen Mirror Lake. We visited the ice caves and went on hikes. There was not as much wildlife as we like. The village side has many more deer, wild turkeys, and chipmunks.

Neat and cozy cabin

  • 5 of 5

We had a comfortable stay at Mike's cabin. The informational videos he sent us ahead of time made it real easy for us to find the place, turn on the heat and lights, start the fireplace and locate stuff in the house. It had snowed the night before we arrived and we called Mike as soon as we got there because we couldn't find a shovel to clear the snow on the stairway. Mike apologized, told us the nearest store to buy a shovel, and then refunded double what we spent on it. He was also kind enough to arrange with his housekeeper to ship a jacket that got left behind by a member of our group.

The kids loved playing in the outdoor "fort" and roasting marshmallows in the fire. The adults enjoyed stargazing in amazingly clear skies.

The only suggestion we have is that the badly scratched nonstick cookware be replaced.
