About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, Sleeps 7

This alpine cabin features a private hot tub, wood stove, deck, and tree-lined views. And it's dog friendly, too!

Located less than seven miles from Purgatory Resort and less than 22 miles from Durango, the home is perfectly set for Rocky Mountain fun and relaxation.

This contemporary cabin boasts an open-concept main living area with picture windows. Unwind on the comfy couches and see what's on the flatscreen cable TV, or cuddle up and watch a movie on the provided DVD player. WiFi is also available if you'd like to upload photos from the day's adventures or surf the net. If you'd rather disconnect, curl up in front of the wood stove with stone hearth and watch the fire.

Step out onto the deck and take in the mountain air and picturesque pine views. In summer months, fire up the grill for a proper BBQ. Patio furniture is provided for lounging or al fresco dining. After dinner, take a relaxing soak in the hot tub under the timber pergola while stargazing.

If you'd prefer to cook in the kitchen, this home has all the essentials including a microwave as well as a dishwasher for easy cleanup. There is a breakfast nook for the morning, and a dining table for group dinners.

This three-bedroom, two-bathroom home easily sleeps up to seven guests. Two dogs are also welcome for a small nightly fee. The master bedroom provides a king bed and an en suite bathroom, complete with jetted tub for soaking after an exciting day on the slopes. A second bedroom provides two extra-long twin beds that can convert into a king-size bed if needed. The third bedroom has a twin-over-double bunk bed. There's also a private washer and dryer.

Purgatory Resort is just down the road for winter sports galore, while Durango town is an easy drive for shopping and dining. Durango also offers dinner theatre, a historical museum, and scenic rides to Silverton on the Narrow Gauge Railroad. Electra Lake is just a quick hike away for boating and picnics. Do some exploring at Mesa Verde, visit a local vineyard or micro-brewery, or take a mountain trail ride.

Whatever kind of Rocky Mountain adventure you might like awaits at this centrally located cabin, don't miss out!

About Vacasa of Southwest Colorado

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

Guestbook comments from the manager

Roughlyy my "dozenth" trip to the Durango/San Juan area for summer activities and R & R. The Spruce Mesa Mountain Cabin is a genuine oasis and located perfectly for the best activities.

Hiking and Mountain Biking: On Lime Creek, make sure to go roughly 1 mile past Spud Lake for some breathtaking views of Lime Creek and surrounds.

Downtown Durango: ...Don't miss the Strater Hotel Bar and the old player piano... Feels as though Wild Bill could walk in at anytime.

Can't wait for lucky summer trip in 2013.

Perfect home in the perfect location.

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four with a dog stayed over this Memorial Day weekend. This home had everything we needed. We loved the location. Secluded in a beautiful area, yet only a few minutes outside of Durango. Being so close to a number of lakes allowed us plenty of options for fishing. We were also able to drive up to Silverton for a day trip and enjoy a ATV adventure with San Juan Backcountry. Loved everything about the place. I would only note that there is no fenced area for the pets so we had to keep a close watch on our dog in the event that he would wander off to far on his own. The hot tub was just what we needed and made our stay that much more lovely. Gorgeous setting. Highly recommend to anyone who is looking. Smooth and simple process. Great communication.

Wonderful stay!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was great! When we arrived, it was clean, fully stocked, and there was even a gift basket for us. There were many small details that made our trip very enjoyable (lots of propane for the grill, fire wood, hot tub towels, etc). We really enjoyed our time here and would highly recommend this vacation rental.
