Beautiful, multi-level, post & beam log Sleeps Up to 6. Home was built for a couple, but ideally we would like to accommodate a party of 2 to 4. (Sometimes we can allow up to 6 guests, you must inquire first). This rustic but elegant log home was built with pine trees harvested from the property. Designed and built by hand, you will appreciate the workmanship and unique qualities the house affords. Centrally located so you can enjoy all the White Mountains have to offer!
No smoking anywhere on the premises.
Pets - OK with owner's permission & pet fee.
Our property consists of about five acres, located on a cul de sac with four other houses on the road. Our property is privately situated on a small hill. No other homes can see into our home or vice-versa. Very private! We also have another guest house on the property so please inquire if you have a larger party; otherwise, the guest house may be rented separately.
We have a huge groomed front lawn perfect for pets, kids and it makes a terrific sledding hill. The bonus is the location to the town of Littleton. We are about a 5 min. drive to a full array of shops, restaurants, movie theaters, grocery stores, gas & pharmacy.
In the summer enjoy several public golf courses, horseback riding, canoeing, fishing, boating, world-class hiking, & biking. Three ski resorts to choose from (Cannon Mt, Bretton Woods or Loon Mt.), snowshoe, ice fish & ice skate. Enjoy tax-free shopping in downtown Littleton year-around.
Great dining options are available in Littleton and surrounding villages. We will provide you with a list of recommendations.
Dear Susan and Chris,
Thank you for sharing your home with us. It was perfect! We enjoyed the
beautiful setting, and your decor just made it so warm and relaxing. We
actually looked forward to getting back to the house at the end of our daily
activities...so much better than a hotel!
We all had a amazing time at Chris and Susan's home. It is very clean and it feels like you are home. The beds are very comfortable too. Everything you need is there was provided. We had a wonderful time. We watched the snow fall from the windows it was a beautiful sight on the trees and mountains. We will go back .
House is set in a beautiful location, with stunning mountain and valley views. It has an open floor plan, with one large sun room, dining room, living area, and kitchen on the second level. The house features large windows and a second-level deck along one side. We stayed for four days in mid-October, so fall color was at its peak. Kitchen was well-stocked and well organized; the house was spotless upon our arrival. There were several shelves of bath towels and, although not immediately visible as they are at hotels, numerous bath and shower items logically organized.
The area near the house features some of the best hiking, cycling, and scenic drives in New Hampshire. Franconia Notch is a short drive away, as are Loon Mountain and Cannon Mountain. The weather was turning cold, so a morning walk beside Echo Lake was bracing. We had not been to the area for seven years, so a few things were surprising. First, some of the hiking trails are more challenging than we had remembered. Wear good boots. Second, the White Mountain region seems to have been "discovered" since our last visit. Weekend traffic on the Kancamagus Highway was stop-and-go from Lincoln almost all the way to Conway. The parking lots for the popular trails were full; as a result, cars were parked alongside the road on both sides. I suspect that the crowds had something to do with the scarcity of wildlife. A good alternative for animal sightings is to take Route 3 north towards Canada. It's a beautiful drive, scenic and isolated.
The town of Littleton has good restaurants, a movie theatre, and many interesting shops. There is a large grocery store at the edge of town as well as a pharmacy and other retail establishments. The house is quiet and away from any main road, but urban amenities are not far away. We certainly recommend this property and would stay there again. One final note: should there be a skiing or cycling mishap of some sort, Littleton Regional Hospital is just down the road from the house, about a three minute drive away.
We visited Littleton, N.H for a week of hiking the White Mountains with friends and decided a house fit our needs better than hotel rooms. We were so happy to be in this beautiful home. Susan has thought of everything you could need and was easy to reach if you had any questions or concerns which she addressed immediately. The beds were super comfy after a hard day of hiking! The towels were big , fluffy and plentiful! We were there during peak leaf color and had perfect weather which made sitting out at night and having a campfire so much fun. The house is tucked away from everything so there was no ambient light to interfere with the starry filled night sky! I don't think I've ever seen so many stars! Even though it's tucked away and private it is so close to everything and easy to navigate the area. The house had a big basket full of brochures of things to do in the area which was very helpful too. We enjoyed dinners at the Littleton Dinner, Grille One Eleven and twice at Shilling Brew Company which is next to the covered bridge. Shilling had the best stromboli, wood fire pizza and of course great craft brews! When we visit the area again, this is the house where we would stay, it did not disappoint!
We have stayed twice in this lovely home and look forward to going back. It's close to 93 (so, perfect for a quick day hike somewhere) and the adorable town of Littleton (we recommend the appetizer plate at Schilling). The owners are very responsive and helpful. I have two recommendations: 1) that they put more floor lamps in the living space (especially in the sunroom) for those of us who like to read and need lots of light; and 2) that they put a table on the deck near the grill for eating outside when the weather is nice. Otherwise, this home is perfect!
My wife and I just spent a wonderful week at Susan and Chris' rustic and charming home in the Mountains of northern New Hampshire. We have been using homeaway as our go to source for accommodations for over a decade now. We travel all over the U.S. and Europe, and have never stayed in a place that was as well equipped. From the very comfortable open plan living space, to the well set up kitchen, spacious bedrooms with tons of storage, generously stocked bathrooms and washer/dryer space, the place was the perfect answer for us. We truly enjoyed that we were able to bring our two older Labs along with us for long day hikes, and the return home after very warm time on the trail was most welcoming thanks to the air conditioner! It not only helped cool down our tired dogs, but made our lower floor bedroom a true oasis of comfort from the unexpectedly hot temperatures.
Oh yes, the views from the deck are fantastic, grilling out there is a pleasure.
Thanks for allowing us to spend time in your beautiful home. Hope to visit again sometime.
i cannot say enough about our stay at this beautiful home....we arrived late fri eve and the owners (who were staying in adjacent apt) left the lights on for us. the home was perfect!...very clean, spacious, we were not lacking in any way! the owners chris and susan were very helpful with advance info they had provided on things to do , eateries, etc. our evenings spent with our family around the fire pit were memorable! i would highly recommend this property and look forward to coming back! thanks chris & susan for an awesome stay!!
