A beautiful mix of old and modern
This craftsman style home maintains its originality yet the owners were able to update with modern conveniences in a way that kept with the beauty of the era. You honestly feel like you are brought back in history. We loved our stay and will be back.
Three blocks from the center of town, we were able to walk each day for shopping and eat at great restaurants.
Rental Property 953063 Prescott, AZ
As follows: Location very undesirable neighborhood - trailer park in front of home and on left side of home. House on the right of home - yard full of junk and old vehicles, grass uncut, two dogs tied up in front yard. Front door of the rental needing paint and repair and back door - only security screen could be locked, not the door itself.
Outside of house greatly in need of repair - screens dirty, side walkway broken - no landscaping, back yard just weeds and mud, roof sagging.
Interior of house clean and quite comfortable, but couch broken and sagging, no dishwasher or disposal. The only tv available was Roku - no local news, or CNN, Fox, NBC.
We have rented often in several parts of the country, mostly through VRBO and this is the first real disappointment. We don't feel that the cost of this rental was in any way justified given the state of disrepair, especially the outside of the house. In fact, when we pulled up in front, my husband wanted to leave. We only stayed because the rental was only for one week. I have taken photos of the situation and will attempt to forward them asap.
This is the first time I have complained about the condition of a rental property, but based on the photos on your website, I feel that the real situation was not disclosed.

Your comments are inaccurate and false. The pictures associated with the house are very accurate. The yard is well maintained and has routine maintenance every 2 weeks. The back door has working locks both on the main door and security door. The front door was repainted last spring. The cottage was built in 1936. It is an original cottage for the area and is in great condition. The area is the original homestead neighborhood and is the best place to live in Prescott.
As for your complaint of Bob the next door neighbor. Bob is 94 years old and he is a war hero. He does not have any dogs. He does have a truck, but he doesn’t drive much anymore. The Boy Scouts cut his grass about once a month. Sometimes when it rains heavy it gets long, Bob does the best he can. Your criticism of him is completely out of line.
I spoke with your husband on several occasions he never once expressed any problems or concerns. He did ask how to use the television and I explained it to him. He also asked about how to connect to the internet and I explained that also. Never once did he mention he was unsatisfied or unhappy. We have amazon prime, Netflix, and MLB channel. There are apps for Fox, CNN and other news on the TV. I explained this to your husband and he said he had it working. Again he told me he had the TV working for you to watch Fox News, if he wasn’t truthful with me, there is nothing I can do about that.
We have had 100’s of guest. We always try to meet their needs. If you had communicated any needs we would have tried to met yours. We value our guest and there experience. Prescott is a small town, and we love it. We want our guest to love prescott as much as we do and we work hard to make them happy.
We'll be back!
Really enjoyed our stay in the cottage! This place is very quaint, well equipped and comfortable. Slept great each night in the beds.
It's so close to Whiskey Row and all the downtown cafes and shops. Eric and Alisa were great hosts, we never saw them, but were a phone call away. They checked in on us to ask if there was anything we needed to make our stay even better. Safeway is a few blocks away, which was really convenient. We loved our stay and will stay there again!

My family and I loved our stay at Granite Cottage
It truly is a home away from home. Everything from clean and quaintly decorated bedrooms, to a kitchen stocked with everything to prepare home cooked meals. Great patio for entertaing and relaxing, BBQ grill and fire ring included, this place offers many amenities. All you need to bring is your clothing, tooth brush and a few personal toiletries because this place has nearly everything you need. Within walking distance to Wiskey Row night life and many shops as well as Resterants. This was our first experience with home away and we definitely will do this again.
Our experience was not the best
I have mixed feelings regarding our stay. While the house itself has been renovated and is comfortable, the location was of concern. The house sits next to a run-down trailer park of which we were subject to cigarette smoke coming into the house, cussing, and yelling. We did not feel safe and even purchased a lock for the gate at the entrance to the property. We were also the victims of a skunk episode underneath the house and underneath the bedroom where we slept, which caused us to leave early. We had to throw away our special pillows and some clothing. We had to travel home to Washington State with the skunk odor in our car. The owner reimbursed us for two nights, which they should, but did not offer to reimburse for our loss, which is interesting because if we had damaged their property, we would have had to pay. We did not ask for any reimbursement , thinking that it should have been offered without asking when they were told of our loss. We spent many days at home, airing everything that we brought home. The experience has certainly left us hesitant about renting places in the future. We do feel sorry for the owners to have to deal with these two major problems: the trailer park next door and the skunk issue. We are not trying to cause any more problems for the owners by writing this review, but since we count on reviews to give us some insight into properties we are thinking of renting, we think it is very important to share our concerns and experiences.
This house was very warm and cozy!
This house had just about everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Large bath, well stocked kitchen and plenty of room in the house overall. Felt right at home the minute we got there.
