Stunning Oceanfront Cottage in Private Setting with views of Acadia Natl' Park

Overview

About the property

sleeps 4 maximum

This beautiful, family owned, oceanfront property boasts 400ft of private ocean frontage and is situated on 3 wooded acres. Dayton Point Cottage was purchased by my grandparents (the Daytons) in 1958 when they began summering here from Cheshire, Connecticut. . Though smaller than a house, it has all the comforts and charm of a home. It sits on its own little peninsula along one side of a cove on Western Bay, overlooking the mountains of Acadia National Park.

We recently updated the cottage with all new windows (each with an amazing ocean view), new bathroom and floors.

We limit our guest capacity to 4. We are very protective of our special cottage!

The cottage sits (literally) 20 feet from the high tide mark. One can watch the tide come and go with its ever changing color and wildlife. The cove is home to many loons, osprey, eagles, seals, and porpoise. At low tide, the careful observer can see crabs, anemones, sea stars, hermit crabs, and an array of other tide pool dwellers.

Kayaks can be launched right at the beach which is down a well kept (mowed) sloping path from the cottage. Bring your own, or local rentals will deliver right to the cottage.

We are only able to offer a few available weeks per year as most are reserved for those who return to Dayton Point annually. We invite those of you have not yet been to be our guests!

Beautiful!!!

  • 5 of 5

I have never written a review before but I had to say something about this vacation. I don't believe we could have had a better view anywhere else than at Dayton Point house. It is like being in your own paradise, loved the privacy, loved the cottage, it felt like home, the fresh flowers around the house are a very nice touch. We did a lot of hiking, one in particular is Acadia Mountain Trail, this is a very strenuous trail, a lot of climbing rocks but so worth it once you get to the peak. The Shore Walk at the Bar Harbor pier is a very easy walk and beautiful don't miss that one. The owners made us feel very welcome, we enjoyed meeting Audrey and John, they gave us a few good tips. The house is full of family treasures that I just loved, each day I saw something new and interesting, very much enjoyed the homey feel. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed staying here, the only problem we had was we just didn't get enough time to enjoy the house, so many things to do and see.

Spectacular and Romantic Honeymoon Getaway!!

  • 5 of 5

After viewing the enticing pictures on this site, we knew this the perfect honeymoon getaway! Upon arrival, we were both completely stunned by the amazing and expansive views! At this point, we realized that the beauty of the cottage and the setting could simply not be captured on camera and we were going to have the most AMAZING and ROMANTIC Honeymoon! After we explored and absorbed some of the scenery, we went inside to unpack and settle in. The cottage was very clean and comfortable and had everything that we needed! We cooked the majority of our meals in the cottage- the views from the dining table were greater than any restaraunt you could pick. We spent hours watching the everchanging views of the water- breathtaking sunrises, rolling fog, loons and even a few seals swimming around. They have a nice pair of binoculars also to use! Also, exploring the tidal pools at low tide is a fun adventure! We enjoyed the variety of games and played scrabble and yahtzee. When we had any need, the owner/manager was very responsive, kind and caring! They brought us a lovely gift basket for our honeymoon also! Our favorite activities were hiking up Acadia, driving around Desert Island, Kayaking at Long Pond (amazing views here also), walking around Downtown Bar Harbor on a rainy day. We did not eat out much but we did find a neat bar to get some interesting drinks @ Cottage Street Pub.

We will definitley be coming back regularly for our anniversary! We look forward bringing our future children to this special peice of paradise and to creating many memories here at Dayton Point Cottage in the many years to come!!

If your looking for a romantic, private, unforgettable getaway and you love nature- DPC is the place to be!

A little bit of heaven!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was wonderful. It was clean, cozy, and the location was perfect. It was close enough to Acadia national park that we didn't feel like we were driving for hours and yet secluded enough that we felt we were away from the touristy attractions.

Can't say enough..........a favorite!

The best spot ever. Really unbelievable location right on the water with views from every window. Cottage is very well stocked and well decorated. Lots of towels, kitchen supplies etc. Owners are very accommodating. Went to both Bangor and Bar Harbor and each are an easy drive. Loved Acadia and hiked everyday.

Relaxing and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

Cottage is just plain wonderful, beautiful private location on the water. Clean, comfortable and has everything you need. Close enough to Bar Harbor and Acadia yet, far enough away for peace and quiet. The owners were more than helpful with questions and area information. Well worth our 400 mile drive. We hated to leave but, had an awesome week. Beautiful full moon, deer in the yard on our first morning - just great. Looking forward to returning next year.

Heaven!!!

  • 5 of 5

The pictures on this site are great, but once you arrive and see the "big picture" you will understand our headline. The property is meticulously kept up and clean. The owners are great, personable people that we have had the pleasure of meeting and talking with. This was our second year at Dayton Point (we've already booked our 3rd) and though there are plenty of activities and restaurants in the area we chose to stick at the cottage and enjoy the views, kayak the bay and island, wade in the ocean, explore the sea shore, and eat in (love to BBQ). We would and have recommended this piece of "heaven" to friends.
