My family and I live on site in this historical, former B&B property. We love our home and are honored to be its care takers.
Greg Harvath purchased this studio in 2005
My family and I returned to the Midwest in 2003 to raise our son near family. When the Goshorn House went on the market, we went to see her and immediately felt at home. We were looking for a place near or in walking distance to town. Luck was on our side with this one.
A great feel to this property with its courtyard, gardens, and front porch. We love to sit on the front porch and watch local passerby's and you will too!
The Goshorn House guest suite surpassed our expectations. It is immaculate and beautifully decorated. The location is quiet but within walking distance to the lake and town with great restaurants, shops, etc. Greg was friendly and extremely helpful. We highly recommend this property and hope to return next summer.

We stayed here for 2 nights and hope to be back again soon. The hosts were very nice, the studio apartment was clean and well-appointed, and the location was great. We walked to Everyday and Respite, had nice morning runs, and enjoyed the Douglas Beach. We also visited Fennville and Saugatuck while there, but were glad we had chosen to stay in Douglas.
We had a great time visiting the Goshorn house. Greg was so friendly and accommodating. We felt very at home. The place was clean, comfortable, and quiet. We walked a few minutes for coffee downtown Douglas, and enjoyed shopping and dining in nearby Saugatuck. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Thanks Greg!
It's a lovely studio in an handsome older house. The room is very large and all the furnishings are stylish and contemporary. It's about two short blocks to downtown Douglas. Greg, the host, was very helpful and friendly. We had a great stay and would love to return.
Our stay was perfect. There was plenty of room for the four of us (me, my husband, & 2 young children) and our small dog - I agree with an earlier reviewer who mentioned that the room is larger than it looks in the pictures. The room was immaculate and inviting, and had all the amenities we needed. The weather was not the greatest, but the pool was warm so we were able to swim even when it was too cool to be at the beach. We appreciated being within walking distance of shops, restaurants, a coffee shop, and parks. It was quiet and Greg was a wonderful host.
Don't tell your friends or you will NEVER be able to book this place during the summer, unless you book it around the day after you leave.. now the jokes are aside...
AMAZING. We were fortunate enough to have the pool to ourselves the ENTIRE time. We have a 6yr old boy who is in his phase of learning to swim/swimming on his own and this pool was fantastic! The room was amazing, quite (over a non-rented/occupied room) so my son could play/stomp without disturbing anyone. The weather was PERFECT, all days.. even if it were a bit chilly... the pool was heated and NICE.
The room was spacious enough for probably four people (we had three) and the stairs were nicely out of the way when you walked up to your room. You have a private entrance, TV (cable & WiFi), small microwave, electric stove top, decent size refrigerator which we stocked, nice dishes, well lite, ceiling fan and A/C! All the creature comforts of home.
Just a good stones throw from Douglas downtown for dinner(s) or walking the small shops. My boy LOVED the park and we met some really nice people from all walks of life (you have to get to Saugatuck north on Blue Star Hwy. Also, if you are into finding hidden treasures (we found two early 20th Century typewriters -1911 and 1914 then you need to stop at Saugatuck Antique Pavilion (South of Blue Star Hwy from Randolph Street).
The hosts are really nice people; honestly you cannot ask for better people.. type of people you could image being family friends, having dinners with or just being neighbors.
In the end, my wife and I only visited the St. Joseph beach once and that's when we stayed in Stevensville/St. Joseph. REASON - We did NOT want to leave our rental..
Private with some casual check-ins (e.g. everything ok, need anything) and some friendly conversation
So, yes, tell your friends, tell your extended family and prepare to make your reservations MONTHS in advance or you will be shaking it in the local best western or some no-tell-motel....
Have fun.. it's worth it... I bet its amazing in the fall and winter too!!!!
