About Rosalind Green

I am English and moved to Italy in 2001 when we bought this apartment and had it completely renovated. We now live in the countryside 30 minutes from Porto Santo Stefano and rent out our apartment full-time. We look forward to hearing from you.

An absolutely gorgeous apartment and view await you! Located slightly uphill from the main port, this apartment gives you easy access to everything of interest (mostly restaurants, some entertainment, and a few shops). All you have to do is go down a flight of stone steps! The grocery store is only about 100m from the apartment, no stairs. There is a public pebble beach within walking distance down the hill, but a much nicer beach with 8km of sand and warm waters can be reached in 10 minutes by car (free parking on the street). The apartment itself is quite large with unbeatable views of the blue waters of the Mediterranean and the town. The beds in both bedrooms were comfortable. The linens were impeccably clean, as was the entire apartment. The kitchen was honestly the best-equipped I have ever seen in any rental property! There were two bathrooms, one with a shower/tub combo and one in the master bedroom with a shower. Supplies and small toiletries were thoughtfully laid out in both bathrooms. The one slight downside was that there was no A/C, but there were fans and nice breezes circulated when we left the doors and windows open (no bugs). The best part was the wrap-around private balcony you could access from both the living room and the master bedroom. There was no place like it to relax with a drink or enjoy a meal while admiring the view. We ate all of our meals outside and just couldn’t get enough of that view! Our host Ros was very friendly and welcoming. She thoroughly explained everything we needed to know and even gave us water and juice when we arrived knowing full well we hadn’t yet had time to buy supplies. She remained readily available throughout our stay and very easy to communicate with. Sorry it took me so long to post this review Ros! All in all I highly recommend this apartment for a memorable and relaxing vacation.

My wife and I spent a week at Casa Verde in September 2014. This large apartment is a very clean, well-maintained corner unit with many water views from the kitchen-dining-living room area, both bedrooms, and one of the 2 bathrooms. There is much light and good air circulation. The huge balcony wraps around 2 sides of the unit which allows viewing of great sunrises over the water and of amazing nightfalls as the lights come on in the city and harbor below you. Definitely feels like you are sitting in a scene worthy of a postcard. This is only the second time we have stayed in a place with insect screens in the windows and in the doors to the balcony. We did not notice any mosquitoes while sitting outside but the screens are a comfort for anyone with insect-bite sensitivities. The quality of Rosalind's furnishings is unusually high. We have enjoyed many Ikea-level rentals but Casa Verde's very high quality is another bonus. The well-stocked library has much local travel info and some language books to help you with your Italian. It is a 5 minute walk to a Conad supermarket. There is a large sapone store (bed-bath-kitchen supplies, toiletries etc) just across the street from the supermarket. The nearest train station is just outside of Orbetello. There are frequent buses to the Porto Santo Stefano waterfront that depart from directly in front of the train station for the 45 minute ride. From the waterfront it is a 10 minute local bus ride uphill that will take you the Panoramica-Lucciola stop, which is less than a 5 minute walk to Casa Verde. Rosalind was very helpful with our arrival at the Orbetello station and with orientation to the apartment and the city. It is about a 10 minute walk downhill, without luggage, to the north end of the waterfront. From there it is another 10 minute walk along the pleasant waterfront to one of the bus stops for Orbetello, in front of the post office. A few more minutes will bring you to the ferry for the one hour ride to Isola Giglio (well worth it). We are definitely old ( in our late 60s) but still found the walking and public transportation quite manageable. We have stayed in 16 other Italian rentals in the last 6 years and feel that Rosalind has the best overall value by far. She is a great host with a great place.

Traveled from Minnesota USA just to stay here!

Ros, you did it again! 4 years ago, I told you I would be back and I would bring my husband and I did. Everything was as amazing as I remembered. Now my husband it talking about coming back to Italy just to stay in your beautiful apartment again. He could not believe how nice it is. We sat on the balcony every morning and every night; there is no way to explain how gorgeous the view is, you have to see it for yourself. We were lucky that it was stormy one day; we watched the sky and sea change colors from the beautiful aqua to a deep purple, it was stunning. Now we are talking about bringing our grandchildren!

Most Americans haven’t heard about Porto Santo Stefano, but it is such a gorgeous town, I recommend to everyone who is going to Italy. Everyone thinks we were quite daring to drive in Italy, but the drive from the airport in Rome is very easy. It’s just an hour and a half from the airport. If you are going to Tuscany, don’t stay in the countryside, stay on the sea. You will love it.

Spacious Apartment with stunning views

  • 5 of 5

This is a large airy apartment with incredible views. The photos inside don't do it justice. Lots of helpful advise on the area & apartment provided with lots of helpful added extras.Books / DVDs / high speed WIFI / TV

We were a family of 4 & it was perfect for us. Kitchen is very well equipped with all the basics provided on arrival.

Sitting on the terrace enjoying a beer watching the comings & goings of super yachts was just magical.

You are high up so there are lots of steps / hills to negotiate but we saw this as a plus to burn off all that lovely food & drink !

Outside the apartment is a bit scruffy so don't panic when you first arrive ! Parking can be tricky at times but we did OK - smaller car recommended.

Local 'beaches' are a no no - go for Gianella or Feneglia

Isla da Giglio is very attractive but quite an expensive day out c120Euro for family of 4 to go to a very pretty but tiny beach.Port town is lovely for a bit of shopping / people watching

Perfect spot for a week in the sun :)

The peninsula of Monte Argentario is situated in the southernmost part of Tuscany and is connected to the mainland by two natural sandbanks - Giannella and Feniglia - offering miles of safe, sandy beaches and creating a lagoon on which the colourful town of Orbetello was built. Rent a bike and cycle through the pine woods at Feniglia or go horse riding at Giannella. Porto Santo Stefano is situated in a picturesque bay. From here you can hire a boat or take a ferry to the nearby islands of Giglio and Giannutri. On the mainland, you will find yourself quickly in the heart of the Tuscan countryside. This is the famous area of Maremma, with nature reserves, pinewood forests, vineyards, olive groves, picturesque towns, medieval villages perched on hilltops, Etruscan and Roman ruins. Don't forget to take a day trip to the spa resort at Saturnia, with its hot sulphur swimming pools - and if you make an early start, you can easily reach Siena, Pisa or Rome in time for a late breakfast.
