About the owner: After living near the ocean in the Myrtle Beach area, it is wonderful to swim in a freshwater lake. No sand, no hurricanes, no traffic, the life is easy and the climate mild. Plus, there aren't any alligators in the water!

Lake Gaston is a well kept secret. When traveling on I-85, one crosses the lake at an unscenic location. When one is traveling on I-95, there is no hint that a gorgeous lake is just to the west. Even within North Carolina, people do not know about Lake Gaston. It is a pleasure living here and enjoying the perfect climate.

A unique destination is the Sylvan Heights Waterfowl Park, 4963 Hwy 258 Scotland Neck, NC. There are waterfowl from every continent at this park. It is an hour from the house, but well worth the visit.
Adam Fields' Wakeboard School (AF Wake) is 6 miles by car, less than 4 by water. Enroll in day/week classes. Adam also rents a variety of items--paddle boards, wakeboards, tubes, skis, etc.
WakeSurfNC is 17 miles by car, much less by water. Enroll in day/week classes.
Our second year here at Lakeside Leisure and we had a wonderful time! We shared the week with family & friends enjoying the water for tubing, knee boarding, wake boarding, swimming and fishing. We have been coming to Lake Gaston for 7 or 8 years to now & this seems to be the most accommodating one so far. You've thought of just about everything that a family needs to have a pleasant stay. We especially enjoyed the time we turned off the TV and played family games "Catch Phrase," a game my brother-in-law's family always brings, kept us in stitches. My daughter's boyfriend caught a 5 lb. bass & was excited! (He later left to go to a fishing tournament & he felt the fish brought him good luck.) As usual, we took the last night to eat at Watersview & watch the sun go down. Thank you so much for the use of your lovely home. We hope to continue coming to the lake & making more family memories with future "children," in-laws & hopefully grandchildren. May god Bless You all.
What a wonderful time we had at your house! It was a beautifully appointed house. We had so much to do there, like ping pong, swimming, boating, air hockey, pool, and Foosball, not mention the workout equipment too. The neighborhood was quiet and the neighbors that we did see were very friendly. We were able to have peaceful walks through the neighborhood during the morning and after dark too. Jackie was so nice and pleasant to work with. Thanks for sharing your house with us! The weather, by the way, was in the 80s for most of the week so we were able to swim almost every day. Thanks again and we hope to be back again next fall.
We enjoyed a relaxing week at the lake house. We had five twenty-somethings with us and they made daily use of the pool table, not to mention that we were all in the water, all day, every day. Boat rental was convenient and the kids loved tubing. We fished from the dock and caught several varieties of fish. If you look past the lack of curb appeal, Casa Mia is a great place for pizza. The rest of the dining options included decent food and beautiful views. The local Food Lion was clean and well-stocked.. The owners of this rental are very user friendly and supplied many little extras which made us comfortable here. My only constructive comments would include having a newer mattress in the master bedroom and less worn couches in the living room. These minor things would not prevent me from returning for another visit.
Great experience. Jackie provided excellent customer service from start to finish! The home was very clean and very comfortable too. Beautiful view out of the sliding glass doors on each level. Kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, etc. Garage had lots of workout equipment, as well as a foosball table and air hockey, that the kids thoroughly enjoyed playing, when they weren't in the lake. Nice lake location for swimming and playing in the water, but also easy to get out to the "big water" for boating, etc. I would definitely recommend this home to others and hope we will have the opportunity to go back!
First of all I want to say how helpful Jackie was when I requested more info on this house as well as pictures of the boat ramp that is only 2 lots away from the home. She didn't hesitate to send me all the info I needed so I could be sure that this home was what we were looking for. Lakeside Leisure was everything we hoped it would be for our family vacation. The view was fantastic of Lizard Creek where we enjoyed water sports but the house is set back in a small cove making it a great place to swim and not worry about boat traffic. The house had everything you could need or want and was well maintained. Indoors the pool table and ping pong were a big hit with everyone. This is the third home we've rented at Lake Gaston and has become our favorite. We hope to return to Lakeside Leisure again next summer.
This home is wonderful! The owners have lots of little details covered, so you don't have to run to the store right away. The home was even decorated for the Christmas holidays, which was a delightful treat. In case we wanted to have a rainy day activity that everyone could participate in, Jackie left us a new jigsaw puzzle with a bow on it.
Although Jackie was on vacation during our stay, she was still available by cell phone to answer all of our questions. In addition, when the gas ran out on the barbecue grill, Jackie made arrangements to immediately bring over and install a new propane tank.
I would definitely stay here again...
1 1/2 hrs. from Richmond, VA & Raleigh, NC, between I-95 & I-85. Grocery shopping is a convenient 3.5 miles away. Bring your water toys and boats. It is easy to board with 2 boat slips and multiple cleats for PWCs on the dock. Rent a variety of boats from a marina--there are 2 marinas with rentals (Morningstar & Stonehouse Timber Lodge) that are 7-10 miles by car. Two schools for learning to wakeboard or wakesurf are near. Adam Fields' Wakeboard School is 6 miles by car, closer by water. WakeSurfNC is across the lake, about 17 miles by car (a lot less by water). Garage has play and exercise equipment. For someone wanting a gym, Lake Gaston Fitness is 3 miles away and sells day passes. Healing Kneads (massages) and Fresh Faces (facials/manicures) are separate local businesses that are a few miles away. All of these businesses may require appointments made in advance.
