Bend has been my home for over 30 years and my wife and I plan on staying here indefinitely. The climate here is perfect for all the outdoor activities we like to partake in such as bicycling, skiing, golfing and playing tennis. Having a peaceful home on the river has made raising our children a wonderful experience as they have enjoyed kayaking, fishing and swimming in the river for many years. We are happy that we built a home that will make such a fantastic vacation rental and I am sure you will enjoy it as much as we have.
Doug Smith purchased this lodge in 2001
We were very pleased with the property. It was modern, clean, and loaded with amenities. Nice and large. Very convenient. The boys enjoyed the pool and ping pong table. The view was very pretty looking out over the river and trail on the opposite side. We enjoyed the paddle boards, canoe, and kayak. We also tried out the bicycles which were good quality and all in good working condition. Our only one very minor complaint - need a few new adult life jackets as the zippers were broken on 2 of them and there were no adult mediums. Highly recommend this property as we just loved it.
This home is huge! It has a well-stocked and roomy kitchen. The bedrooms are all quite comfortable, some with fantastic views of the river and rocky cliffs. I spent most of my time on the well constructed, roomy, and serene deck, but I did manage to take my grandsons fishing in alpine lakes. Others in our family found numerous hikes, museums, and shopping nearby.
On the last evening, we had a mule deer doe and her fawn walk across the lawn that borders the river. Our extended family travels to a different location each summer for a week. This was the first home that all wanted to revisit.
The house and the property in general are so amazingly beautiful!!! The house is week equipped and we wanted for nothing. He also had a great spa our back and numerous river toys. We enjoyed using those. The river is filled with slug for quite a ways out, but that's okay. Not his fault at all and didn't effect me at all becasue I didn't actually get in the water per say. We wakes up the street to right past the rapids and floated back to our house. In my float toy I didn't even touch the slug, so no big deal. The house is soooooo large and so incredible. The yard is like a beautiful park. Would definitely return.
The Home was in perfect shape and beautifully decorated, just as the pictures show. Right on the Deschutes River.
The amenities were too numerous and sporting equipment (bikes, canoe, kayak, etc)
were more than sufficient. We enjoyed the time we spent there along with the location being close to the adorable city of Bend
which offers many restaurants and shops..
Within a short ride there are numerous activities, and parks available, also so many small towns to explore.
We will be back!
Very well maintained and supplied with all the essentials. Convenient location for all Bend area attractions.
