NOTE: If you don't have a 4WD vehicle, contact Island Cruisers at www.islandcruisersinc.com for a weekly rental of a full size SUV at a rate of just over $800. While driving up the pristine beach from the end of the paved road in Corolla, you will begin to feel the invigorating sea air and see pelicans, seagulls and the ubiquitous petite sandpipers on the run. Drive over the dune into Carova Beach, where all the roads are sand. When you turn into my driveway for 'Sea-Ya-Round', in Carova Beach you may be surprised to see wild horses there to greet you. Some of the mares may have their cute foals with them. The house which is located in Carova Beach is about eight and a half miles up the beach from the end of the paved highway, Route 12 in Corolla, and is accessible by four wheel drive only.
When you first enter 'Sea-Ya-Round', you will immediately relax and feel the uniqueness of this round house nestled in the dunes. There are two bedrooms on the lower level with a large full bathroom. One bedroom has a queen bed and the other has two twin beds. Large windows give wonderful views of the wild horses which meander around to the house almost everyday.
On the main level you will find a king bedroom and another large bathroom with a top-of-the-line washer/dryer. Also on the main level is your fully-equipped kitchen with an island wet bar and a dining area. You can relax and watch high definition television in both the family room and master king bedroom. You will also find a selection of DVD movies and a collection of books.
A stroll out the five foot wide runway to the elevated gazebo, with a new addition of 175 square feet of decking attached to the gazebo, will show you why you chose to have your vacation at 'Sea-Ya-Round' in Carova Beach. You will see spectacular views up and down the beach, feel the cool breezes and witness the wonders of the pelicans' flight as they glide by at your eye level. Suddenly, all the stresses of your life will disappear! Take a glass of wine and watch and savor the views for hours from the gazebo or the new decking. In the evening have your dinner in the gazebo, or on the deck and enjoy the spectacular blazing sunsets.
You will want to spend the night in the gazebo!
Awake to the wild mustangs having their morning fill of sea oats, so why not join them for breakfast in the gazebo? You can enjoy the glistening morning surf, and watch the ocean with its abundance of sea life frolicking in the morning lull. The views will be mesmerizing as you sip your morning coffee.
Direct access to Carova Beach is reached by steps from the gazebo down to the beach. Your cares will vanish while strolling along the beach perhaps looking for unusual shells or other treasures from the sea. End your day relaxing in the round hot tub. Turn off all the lights so you may take in the beautiful night skies with shooting stars. All this and more is yours while you are staying in beautiful Carova Beach and 'Sea Ya Round'.
There are many other things to do while staying in Carova Beach such as taking a hike in the False Cape State Park. This is located about 1.5 miles north of the house.
The park kiosk has a flier that will show you where walking trails are located throughout the park. There is a pristine, undisturbed beach where only nature abounds. Surf fishing is always a fun thing to do, and who knows, you may catch fresh fish for your dinner. While you fish, you can watch the seagulls and pelicans fish for their dinner. A fishing permit is required.
If you have the desire to go off the beach to the south, you will find many wonderful restaurants with all types of cuisine. Visit the shops in Corolla and Timbuck II shopping area, and don't forget to tour the restored Whale Head Club, the Currituck Lighthouse and finally the new (FREE) Wildlife Museum, which are all located together in Corolla. Driving further south will offer more to see - such as the Wright National Memorial Park where flight began in 1903, and the North Carolina Aquarium in Manteo.
But, the best place to be is at 'Sea Ya Round' in Carova Beach!
I've been a lover of Carova Beach for many years. As an artist, I love the beauty of this Beach. I've painted many landscapes in Carova and I teach plein air pastel landscape workshops around the country and abroad. I love surf fishing at the beach house, and I wish I had more time to spend in Carova. I've Traveled a lot, but there seems to be no place like Carova. I'm a pretty easy going guy and just like being alive to paint landscapes, and travel. You will see a few of my landscapes in the house. If you would like to see my art work, Google my name. OK, that's enough about me! Have a great week!!! Cheers!, Jack
Jack Pardue purchased this house in 1990
I chose Carova Beach because of its natural beauty and the remoteness, as well as, there are no paved roads. There is no better place to relax and just chill out and watch the Wild Horses and pelicans.
A place to just kick back and relax in the round!
I spent 3 weeks at See Ya Round....it was absolutely perfect. I love the Outer Banks and prefer the 4 wheel drive beach. I retired earlier this year and decided I wanted to spend at least 3 weeks at the beach. I found this home and it was exactly what I was looking for...it had every thing I needed...fully stocked kitchen, chairs, hot tub and the views from the gazebo are spectacular. Enjoyed having coffee, drinks and dinner in the gazebo. My husband spent 2 weeks and said he wanted to email his boss and tell him he was going to retire as well...lol. My sister and niece spent a week and thought it was incredible as well. Our dog also enjoyed his runs on the beach everyday. There is a lone horse that came by the house a few times and a deer appeared one time. I spent one day seeing all of the light houses in the Outer Banks, while it was a drive it was quite spectacular especially driving back to the house at night seeing horses, foxes, and a rabbit on the beach. My one regret is not meeting Jack...he is a gem. We talked several times before, during and after the trip and he has a wonderful place. Jack...thank you for the best 3 weeks. I hope to See Ya Round in the future.
We just got back from our vacation at See-Ya-Round the first week of August. The house was everything we wanted. In an area where there are mostly multi-family huge houses, this was a rare gem to find a house the perfect size for our family of 5. It was so unique to stay at a round-house. It was beautifully furnished and I enjoyed looking at all the paintings, esp. the ship-wreck one. Loved the ceiling of the house! The house had everything we needed from movies, games, puzzles, and kitchen cookery. We loved the proximity of being on the beach. We appreciated the beach chairs, and beach toys. It was nice to have hoses at different locations. I enjoyed my coffee every morning sitting on the gazebo. We also enjoyed the hot-tub.(That was my kid's favorite feature of the house!) It was amazing to walk out on the beach at night and gaze at the stars. The personal touch of having Jack call in to check in with us during our vacation was very nice. We lost power the first night and Jack was able to have the electrician come out and fix the phones right away once we realized they were not working. It was so special to see the wild horses, dolphins, and deer. EXCELLENT house=EXCELLENT Vacation! The perfect vacation destination for anyone just wanting to get away to relax at the beach!
What a perfect week! The location is perfect for a relaxing vacation. We were all sad to leave. We saw horses everyday as well as lots of dolphins and even deer! House is well equipped and we had anything we needed and more. The beds are very comfortable. There are hoses for rinsing off at all the right places! The gazebo and attached deck are perfect. The beach itself is just perfect. We had a fantastic vacation here!
PERFECT, PERFECT, PERFECT! This was our first time to Carova Beach, and See Ya Round. We were so pleased with everything that the home has to offer. It was the perfect place for the 6 of us! See ya Round was very clean and accomadating; with one exception, the kitchen needs a slotted spoon! LOL , that's pretty crazy that is the only complaint! 😊 The home owner was very attentive, he checked in when we got there onSunday to make sure we had everything we needed, and then checked back in with us on Saturday to thank us for staying . We are in LOVE with See ya Round and Carova Beach. The gazebo is the "sweet spot !" My husband and I were up every morning at 5:30 to watch the sunrise and have our morning coffee. The wild horses, and Dolphins were an added bonus on several occasions. If you are looking for the PERFECT place to stay, See ya Round, is the spot!
Looking forward to next July!
We had such a great time spending a week at “see ya round.” The house was perfect for my husband, myself, and our 2 year old, as well as friend who visited for a few days. Great convenience to come and go from the beach, wild horses roamed in the yard every morning while we drank our coffee on the decks. Red foxes foraged nearby in the yard and sand dunes, and the area was quiet and peaceful for our nice relaxing family vacation. A great place to disconnect and recharge from our busy lives. Jack’s kitchen is fully stocked so we were able to cook meals easily each day and the well water is the best tasting water we have ever drank. I would highly recommend this home for a quiet family vacation.
We stayed for a week with our daughters (6 & 3) and cockapoo (11). We had a blast. The boarded path out to the dunes was perfect for the kids. We would come in from the beach and eat lunch in the gazebo everyday to take a break from the sun. What a perfect place to enjoy the ocean! We didn't feel like we were missing out on the beach while we gave the kids a mid-day break. We also ate dinner out there almost every night. We couldn't get enough of the views and ocean! The house was the perfect size for our family (with a bedroom to spare). There were even extra towels, dog shampoo and blankets to cover the furniture for our pup, which was great. Thank you, Jack, for taking such good care of your home and your guests! We can't wait to return :)
False Cape State Park is 1.5 miles north of the house for hiking fun.
