About Martha Howard, Gulf Coast Keyholders and Exit Realty, Gulf Shores
New owners George and Trudi bought this cottage with an eye to retire here in a few years. Until then they want to share it with others who want to get away for some quiet time near the water. As the "parents" of fuzzy four legged "children" hey know just how hard it can be to find a pet friendly place to spend a vacation.
Martha Howard, Gulf Coast Keyholders and Exit Realty, Gulf Shores purchased this Cottage in 2017
Why Martha Howard, Gulf Coast Keyholders and Exit Realty, Gulf Shores chose Gulf Shores
Trudi and George have a daughter, son-law-and beautiful grandchildren in Gulf Shores and they love to visit as often as possible. As for the home, there is not a more beautiful spot on the bay - the view, the old oaks with Spanish moss hanging from their limbs, the gentle lap of the water, the spacious yard, the quiet setting and peaceful surroundings simply spoke of home. The large yard and distance from the busy highway also made this home a perfect spot for children and pets.
What makes this Cottage unique
This property offers a guest a different view of Gulf Shores. Quiet and secluded under old oaks this home is far away from the vacation rental crowd. Guests experience what it is like to live along the bay on the island's Ft Morgan peninsula. Sunsets are unparalleled from the pier it shares with its two neighbors. For those who want to play in the Gulf waters the beach at the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge is almost across the street. A two minute drive will take you to its pristine shore where you can swim, fish, walk, shell and bask in the rays. Located about nine miles from town it is a quick trip to the center of the action, shops, restaurants, and attractions if you can tear yourself away from the front porch.

Heaven on Earth!
We chose the Bay Leave cottage as a short retreat for my post-tax season and my husband's completion of 3 art commissions. We were not disappointed when we arrived and even more impressed when we walked in!
The house is comfortably furnished and the grounds are so serene. The kitchen is huge and has every cooking utensil and vessel one would ever need. The house was extremely clean and again, super comfortable!
There is a fenced year for furry friends and our pug/boxer mix enjoying being able to run around the yard in the morning and evenings.
The house is located a short-drive from town. It is far enough away from the hustle and bustle of town but a short-enough distance so that driving in to pick something up was not a problem.
All in all, the Bay Leave cottage was everything we were looking for in a rental! I would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone that is looking for relaxation and serenity! We would definitely like to come back!
Super cabin and setting
We enjoyed our stay so much. The cabin was perfect...so clean and roomy. Sitting on the screened in porch in the evening and enjoying the view was super relaxing! Also, perfect for our "fur-baby" who was welcomed as well. We enjoyed walking down the lovely drive each morning. Great place to stay!
Our family of four (and Golden!) had a wonderful time in this comfortable and well-appointed cottage on the bay. We enjoyed the pier for sunning and sunsets, and hiking through Bon Secour Wildlife Preserve to the gulf. Highly recommend a trip to Fort Morgan if you have an off weather day or want to take a break from the sun. Another really great place was the zoo in Gulf Shores. Get there when they open and see all the animals out for breakfast. Martha was great, and made the rental very easy!
GIRLS trip in Gulf Shores!
Met the BFFs in this gorgeous part of Alabama. House couldn't have been more perfect - spacious, clean & great sunsets off the fishing pier. Azaleas blooming everywhere and so peaceful. Great home base for us to run to Fairhope, Orange Beach, FLORA BAMA ;) Martha was responsive & helpful. Will definitely return!
Clean, quiet, comfortable and dog friendly with good access to beaches and birding
We enjoyed our one week stay at Bay Leave cottage very much (March 1-8, 2018) We are a party of two adults and two dogs. Our young adult daughter was with us part of the time.
The cottage was very comfortable -both furniture and beds – and the large kitchen was well stocked with the essentials. It has a nice view of Bon Secour Bay from the screened porch. We enjoyed watching sunsets from the dock, which is a very short walk from the cottage. The fenced yard includes the porch; nice for the dogs to be able to go up and down freely.
The cottage is in a quiet shady location among the live oak trees, about a 12 minute drive from Gulf Shores. There is beach access and parking very close by at Bon Secour refuge, or not much farther, at Fort Morgan beach, which is dog friendly. Lots of stores and restaurants in Gulf Shores. There are a couple of small general stores and restaurants closer by the cottage.
We enjoyed hiking and birdwatching on the trails at Bon Secour, the Fort Morgan State Historic Park is very interesting, and the beaches are FANTASTIC!
The manager, Martha, was very responsive and helpful with any questions or issues. She and the owner made us and our pooches feel very welcome, and we would return in a second. It was the perfect escape from a chilly Michigan winter.
Very comfortable and peaceful!
This was our first month away trip since retiring. Also first trip to Alabama. We loved the area, Gulf State Park was unbelievable. After a day of hiking and biking it was great to return to this cozy home, it was clean and comfortable. Our dog loved it too. Thank you.
