We are the Proleika family, and we call Charlotte NC home. We purchased this sweet beach house in July 2011, and immediately started pouring ourselves into this special place. We spend as much time as we possibly can here, enjoying family time and taking trips to make improvements to the home.
We wish to open our home to vacationing families like ours, looking for a clean, nicely decorated property.
Your complete satisfaction is the single most important thing to us, so we are always accessible to you 24/7/365.
We look forward to hosting you, and hope you enjoy your stay!
Ron and Carrie Proleika purchased this house in 2011
We've vacationed at beaches all over the United States, Caribbean, etc... and think that Pleasure Island is one of the most attractive, friendliest and interesting places we've ever been. Kure Beach has a great, old-school charm about it. Reminds us of simpler times, and the house is the perfect place to disconnect from the world and reconnect with family, friends and loved ones.
For now, this is the perfect family vacation destination for us, and as we approach retirement, know this home will one day become our permanent residence.
This is a laid back, old school sort of beach. And we adore its perfect, classic simplicity. The beach near the house isn't crowded; we're 100 yards away from the nearest public access, and just 100 yards away from the nearest lifeguard. Best of both worlds!
Our kids LOVE the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher! Heck, we do too. Very educational and a great way to cool off for a few hours.
This beach is perfect for shelling. We enjoy the quick walk up to the Kure Beach Pier, restaurants, Bud & Joe's, arcade and the public park. Free summer concerts are a nice touch. It's a friendly, small town kind of feeling.
The Carolina Beach boardwalk is a short drive away, so hitting the amusement rides and playing carnival games is a must-do. Weekly summertime fireworks and movies at the lake are awesome, as is the Saturday Farmer's Market, fishing docks, etc...
The car ferry to Southport is a fun day trip and the Fort Fisher Civil War Experience is a fun family oriented thing to do on Thursdays during the summer.
It's off the island, but we love Fish Bites restaurant. Great people and super fresh seafood.
And if you somehow get tired of the beach and need to go inland, downtown Wilmington is a great diversion. Great shopping, food, galleries and nightlife!
But mostly, we enjoy the family down time, just hanging out, playing games, talking and reconnecting.
As our guests, we'll send you an email before your stay that includes a calendar of great activities and fun stuff for your family to check out during your visit.
We had a wonderful time at Your Beach House. Everything we needed, and more, was there. We used the bicycles, the fishing poles, and the beach toys. And what a pleasant surprise to find so many useful items in the kitchen - spices, oils, flour, plenty of dish soap, dishwasher detergent, etc., not to mention the very nice and complete assortment of pots and pans and dishes. The whole house was spotless, tastefully decorated, and the bedrooms were complete with comfortable beds and all the linens needed. Eight of us enjoyed the house with no crowding. We frequently commented on how thoughtful you were to supply all the necessities that vacationers would want.
Although the weather was a bit chilly for sitting on the deck, we think that the table and the comfortable furniture you've provided are a big plus. Hopefully we can return someday to log some good "deck sitting" time! I have already recommended your house to several of my friends. Thank you for everything.
Our family of 11 spent Thanksgiving 2016 weekend at Your Kure Beach House. It is a bright sunny house with a large open floor plan that is nicely furnished with comfortable seating and beds. We had 5 small children with us and really appreciated all of the baby gear and toys that were provided. Thank you to our hosts for a wonderful stay and for also recommending a very successful and fun fishing charter. Hope we get a chance to return someday.
House was exactly as described. We appreciated that the house was clean, comfortable, and spacious. The bonus of paper products, soap and detergent at the house made packing so much easier. Thank you!
What a beautiful home & the ocean view was amazing! Room for our whole extended family! Everything we needed was provided. We stopped at Trader Joes on the way in, and never left the beach house except to hang out at the beach of course! We also spent time on the covered deck! Thank you for a wonderful week! The Lane, Kinney, SanGeorge family
Thank you so much for sharing your lovely house with me and my family. The house was clean and had everything that we needed for our week at the beach. We had a wonderful time watching the sunrise, sunsets, playing in the surf, and taking walks on the beach. It felt like home. Would definitely love to rent this home again.
We walked into a very clean home that was stocked and ready to use! All of the furnishings were in great shape and we couldn't have imagined a better place to stay. We had a total of 11 in our group and at no point did we feel crowded or not have a place to relax! We would definitely recommend this beach vacation rental and wouldn't hesitate to return! A great place to vacation and clear the mind!
This was a first for our family in having a weeklong family vacation together. I am never speechless, but our week at Your Kure Beach House almost made me speechless. It was perfectly appointed (pictures actually matched reality). The only thing we needed was food. Carrie and Ron thought of everything in creating this beautiful experience. There wasn't one time when we said, "I wish we had...this or that." With 6 adults, 2 teenagers and a 4 year old, our main criteria included an actual bed for everyone and the Atlantic Ocean at our back door (plus no smoking and no animals). All these boxes were checked plus many more. The atmosphere, location, amenities and everything else exceeded our expectations many times over.
Ideally situated halfway between Kure Beach Pier and Fort Fisher, Your Kure Beach House is the ideal destination for families looking for a little fun in the sun and relaxation on the North Carolina coast.
We're just a quick drive to Carolina Beach or the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. The Southport Ferry is only a few minutes away, which makes a great day trip to Southport, Oak Island and Bald Head Island.
During the summer, enjoy movies and fireworks at the lake, and carnival rides on the boardwalk at Carolina Beach. During summer months, the boardwalk is transformed into a carnival atmosphere, fun for the whole family. More great restaurants, shops and fun await you on Carolina Beach (just a couple of miles from Your Kure Beach House).
For you American history buffs, Fort Fisher is a wonderful diversion, touring one of the last Confederate strongholds to fall as the Civil War was coming to a close.
The North Carolina Aquarium is one of the best in the country and a great place to cool off during the hot summer.
In the early 1900's, Wilmington was North Carolina's most populous city. A visit to downtown to absorb its historic charm, hit antique stores and eat the freshest seafood is must if you can drag yourselves off the beach long enough to get there!
A little closer to home, the new Kure Beach Park recently opened and there are regular concerts and activities all summer long (and during spring and fall too). The Kure Beach Pier is a fun diversion: if you're into fishing, bring a pole, grab some bait and hit the longest fishing pier on the Atlantic coast.
As far as Kure Beach dining goes, for great food, a little restaurant called Freddie's is worth checking out. From their homemade salad dressing to their amazing grilled meats and delicious (and huge!) pasta plates, Freddie's will hit the spot.
Jack Mackerel's and Big Daddy's are good seafood spots, and the little diner across from the Pier will always treat you right, whether morning, noon or night.
And be sure to grab a cold one at the legendary hole-in-the-wall Bud & Joe's bar.
Pleasure Island is a fantastic place to have some family time, with inviting beaches and a low key, fun-filled spirit.
