About Ron and Carrie Proleika
We are the Proleika family, and we call Charlotte NC home. We purchased this sweet beach house in July 2011, and immediately started pouring ourselves into this special place. We spend as much time as we possibly can here, enjoying family time and taking trips to make improvements to the home. We wish to open our home to vacationing families like ours, looking for a clean, nicely decorated property. Your complete satisfaction is the single most important thing to us, so we are always accessible to you 24/7/365. We look forward to hosting you, and hope you enjoy your stay!
Ron and Carrie Proleika purchased this House in 2011
Why Ron and Carrie Proleika chose Kure Beach
We've vacationed at beaches all over the United States, Caribbean, etc... and think that Pleasure Island is one of the most attractive, friendliest and interesting places we've ever been. Kure Beach has a great, old-school charm about it. Reminds us of simpler times, and the house is the perfect place to disconnect from the world and reconnect with family, friends and loved ones. For now, this is the perfect family vacation destination for us, and as we approach retirement, know this home will one day become our permanent residence.
What makes this House unique
This is a laid back, old school sort of beach. And we adore its perfect, classic simplicity. The beach near the house isn't crowded; we're 100 yards away from the nearest public access, and just 100 yards away from the nearest lifeguard. Best of both worlds! Our kids LOVE the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher! Heck, we do too. Very educational and a great way to cool off for a few hours. This beach is perfect for shelling. We enjoy the quick walk up to the Kure Beach Pier, restaurants, Bud & Joe's, arcade and the public park. Free summer concerts are a nice touch. It's a friendly, small town kind of feeling. The Carolina Beach boardwalk is a short drive away, so hitting the amusement rides and playing carnival games is a must-do. Weekly summertime fireworks and movies at the lake are awesome, as is the Saturday Farmer's Market, fishing docks, etc... The car ferry to Southport is a fun day trip and the Fort Fisher Civil War Experience is a fun family oriented thing to do on Thursdays during the summer. It's off the island, but we love Fish Bites restaurant. Great people and super fresh seafood. And if you somehow get tired of the beach and need to go inland, downtown Wilmington is a great diversion. Great shopping, food, galleries and nightlife! But mostly, we enjoy the family down time, just hanging out, playing games, talking and reconnecting. As our guests, we'll send you an email before your stay that includes a calendar of great activities and fun stuff for your family to check out during your visit.

Absolutely Wonderful!!! Clean! Responsive Owners! Well Stocked! Stunning Ocean View!!!
We stayed in this lovely home for a long weekend to celebrate our Daughter's Graduation from UNCW. It was a 30 min. drive to the UNCW campus for the Graduation with nearly zero traffic. Why get 4-5 hotel rooms for grandparents, siblings, uncle/aunts and cousins in Wilmington when you can stay in this beautiful home on the Ocean Front?!! It was an easy decision for us.
The home was great for hosting her graduation party. Plenty of room, great flow. The owners were very easy to communicate with. The kitchen is well stocked with most everything you need to cook. (no garlic press... I brought one with me. This wasn't my first rodeo;))
Kure is such a neat little beach town with lots of family friendly places to go and explore. I wish we could have stayed longer. A couple of local notes and suggestions: We ordered pizza from Frank's Pizza and it was delicious! an fyi for those who are Catholic... Immaculate Conception is a 13 min. drive. Sunday after church we went to Kate's for breakfast. Good food/ a little noisy.
When our family wants to get away to the beach again we will definitely come back to this home! I would like to emphasize how incredible the ocean views are. The entire back of the house is open to views of the ocean. The back deck off the main floor and the upper deck off the bedrooms are peaceful places to sit and talk or if you just want to stair off into the ocean. So very calming. Even from one of the first floor bedrooms you have a view of the ocean.
There are plenty of chairs and toys for the beach. The walkway to the beach and shower area is very nice and convenient. Everything about this home is neat, tidy and super clean!!! The first thing we all said when we walked into the home was WOW! look at the view!! and the second thing we all said was WOW! it smells so nice and it's so clean!
Seriously, if you need a place to get away and relax...Stay here!!!
Thank you Ron and Carrie Proleika for offering your home to rent and giving our family such a wonderful place to celebrate our daughter's college graduation. And a beautiful place to make memories for our family.
Great View, Great Beach Access, Great Time
Great View, Great Beach Access, Great Time
We ended up at this house September 8-11 2017, this was as Irma was landing in Florida. With that said the host were extremely good about updating us on the realisms of going at this time and that they were sure we would still enjoy our stay. Half of our original group went and the others did not. for those of us that went it was a wonderful weekend. Then house was beautiful, comfortable, and we did indeed feel as if we were staying at a friends house. We cooked almost all of our meals there, and the kitchen was supplied with every thing that we needed and more. The spices were greatly varied. The room were comfortable and our children had no issues sleeping any of the nights that we were there. There were more then enough toys for our 4 and 6 year old. As well as Lots of Beach toys. We did not use these however because the wind was extreme. The house was wonderful all around and it was so nice that we are already planning the next trip with the Grandparents!
Beautiful, extremely well-equipped house
We have stayed in many rental houses in Kure and Carolina Beach, and this is one of the best. The house was clean and extremely well-equipped (including shampoo, conditioner and body wash!). We were so happy that we did not have to cart all sand toys, beach chairs and beach towels from home, because they were all provided for us. The house is located on our favorite stretch of Kure Beach near Fort Fisher, and the beach is very wide and not at all crowded. I highly recommend this house and the responsive owners.
Great beach vacation
Thank you Ron and Carrie!
We had a marvelous vacation at your home. Our children and grandchildren accompanied us. Each, and every one, of us had a wonderful time. Your home is ever so comfortable. The beach itself is just what we had hoped it would be. There were waves to ride for all age groups, beginners to veterans!
We are from Minnesota, so we treasure the days we can spend relaxing on the beautiful Atlantic shores!
Ideally situated halfway between Kure Beach Pier and Fort Fisher, Your Kure Beach House is the ideal destination for families looking for a little fun in the sun and relaxation on the North Carolina coast.
We're just a quick drive to Carolina Beach or the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. The Southport Ferry is only a few minutes away, which makes a great day trip to Southport, Oak Island and Bald Head Island.
During the summer, enjoy movies and fireworks at the lake, and carnival rides on the boardwalk at Carolina Beach. During summer months, the boardwalk is transformed into a carnival atmosphere, fun for the whole family. More great restaurants, shops and fun await you on Carolina Beach (just a couple of miles from Your Kure Beach House).
For you American history buffs, Fort Fisher is a wonderful diversion, touring one of the last Confederate strongholds to fall as the Civil War was coming to a close.
The North Carolina Aquarium is one of the best in the country and a great place to cool off during the hot summer.
In the early 1900's, Wilmington was North Carolina's most populous city. A visit to downtown to absorb its historic charm, hit antique stores and eat the freshest seafood is must if you can drag yourselves off the beach long enough to get there!
A little closer to home, the new Kure Beach Park recently opened and there are regular concerts and activities all summer long (and during spring and fall too). The Kure Beach Pier is a fun diversion: if you're into fishing, bring a pole, grab some bait and hit the longest fishing pier on the Atlantic coast.
As far as Kure Beach dining goes, for great food, a little restaurant called Freddie's is worth checking out. From their homemade salad dressing to their amazing grilled meats and delicious (and huge!) pasta plates, Freddie's will hit the spot.
Jack Mackerel's and Big Daddy's are good seafood spots, and the little diner across from the Pier will always treat you right, whether morning, noon or night.
And be sure to grab a cold one at the legendary hole-in-the-wall Bud & Joe's bar.
Pleasure Island is a fantastic place to have some family time, with inviting beaches and a low key, fun-filled spirit.
Guarantee, you won't want to leave!
