Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

LATE AUGUST, LABOR DAY WEEKEND AND SEPTEMBER DATES STILL AVAILABLE! Please check availability on our calendar before inquiring about dates.

Yosemite West is inside Yosemite National Park. It is a 25-35 minutes drive to Yosemite Valley attractions, 30 minutes to Glacier Point and 30 minutes to Mariposa Grove and Wawona. This is also the closest lodging for Badger Pass Ski Area, with downhill and cross country skiing and snowshoeing - only eight miles away from your door.

This Yosemite West home is located close to the Glacier Point Road, so you are very close to Taft Point and Glacier Point, the most spectacular views of Yosemite Valley.

This house sleeps a maximum of 8-10 people. We cannot accommodate more than 10 guests.

Minimum age of primary renter: 25.

The Hummingbird Raven House has a spacious deck high in the trees which is a wonderful place to eat dinner and enjoy the sunset.

Please note that our house has a spiral staircase which may be difficult for elderly folks and small children. Our other Yosemite West vacation home, the Hummingbird Pines House (VRBO 470093) is more suited to elderly guests as it has only 2 steps into the house and bedrooms on the ground floor.

INTERNET AND CELL SERVICE: Please note that we do not have wifi, because trees around the house block satellite reception from the South sky. There is also no cell service in Yosemite West. Cell service is spotty in Yosemite Valley. There is paid wifi available in Yosemite Valley.

Minimum stay of 2 nights.

Up to 2 children under age 3 stay free, 10% discount on one week stays. (Please let us know if any of your children are aged 3 and under when you fill out the inquiry form.)

We accept dogs on a case by case basis. We do not automatically accept all dogs. We only accept dogs who are not left unattended in the house or on the deck. There is also a fee and a non-refundable pet deposit required.

The master bedroom has a king size bed and a half bath. Upstairs are two additional bedrooms, with a queen size bed and four bunks. All beds have down comforters and pillows. A convertible sofa-bed in the office sleeps 1 to 2 more guests. Note: we cannot accommodate more than 10 guests at a time.

This house is equipped with a full kitchen and a large dining table. There is a bbq and dining furniture on the deck, which is a wonderful place to enjoy dinner and watch the sunset.

Like most homes in Yosemite West, the Hummingbird Raven House does not have air conditioning. We do have individual room fans. Our location is 6,000 feet of elevation, so generally remains cooler than Yosemite Valley.

About Michelle and Peter

Peter and Michelle

We have visited and loved Yosemite for many years, and are thrilled to have vacation rental homes in the park. We love Yosemite for hiking, climbing, snow shoeing, wildlife viewing and spending time in nature. Please feel free to email us with questions!

Michelle and Peter purchased this house in 2010

Why Michelle and Peter chose California

Hummingbird Raven is in the park, but outside the bustle of Yosemite Valley so it is quiet and peaceful. This house is ideal for groups of family and friends who want a nice house to come back to after a long day of adventure

What makes this house unique

Yosemite West is inside the Park boundaries, so it's a perfect location to enjoy Yosemite (20 minutes to Yosemite Valley and Glacier Point, and close to various trailheads). It has the advantage of being very close to the Badger Pass ski area, and being at a higher elevation than the Valley, which keeps the temperatures more comfortable in the summer months.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for letting us stay in your home. The house was wonderful and we loved staying inside the park. Easy access to the Valley! The kitchen was great to cook in with all utensils. We loved dinners on the deck with sunset view. Deer spotting a bonus!

What a beautiful cabin!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was perfect for us! There were only four of us, so plenty of extra room. The view from the back deck as we used the BBQ was awesome. I highly recommend this cabin for your Yosemite trip. 20-30 minutes from all the main trail heads.

Wonderful cabin in Yosemite West!

  • 5 of 5

Our experience at the Hummingbird Raven house was absolutely outstanding! This was my parents first trip to Yosemite, and the cabin was easily accessible, clean and comfortable, and a perfect distance from the Valley floor. I highly recommend these accommodations.

Great cabin in a great location. Everything we needed for a weekend getaway.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was neat and clean. We were glad for the ceiling fan since it was warm in Yosemite. It has all the utilities we needed for the family gathering with lots of bowls and dishes and all cooking equipments. We couldn't get the BBQ to work but it was fine. The cabin is situated in a great location, and it was easy to find. Our pets loved the cabin since there was enough room to run around. Great communication with the hosts throughout who provide clear instruction on check in/out process. Would definitely stay here again.

Great location; wish we had phone/wifi/tv

  • 4 of 5

We love being in that cluster of VRBO's near Yosemite valley. Beautiful in the trees. Also, great to begin the visit with an excursion to Glacier Point overlooking the valley -- with the road entry close to the homes in "West Yosemite."

As other reviews have mentioned, shortcomings for our fullest satisfaction: 2nd bedroom downstairs was much less appealing, less furnished, bit musty smelling (perhaps after the winter rains), and with toilet down the long hall. Also, surprised not to find a welcome letter/note from the owners as we've had in at least a dozen VRBO's. Also regret there was no wifi not connection to TV; and to learn in the limited info that the only way to contact owner or phone out was to buy a phone card in Oakhurst many miles back outside the park. We took too much for granted.

Maybe other visitors won't find these 'deficiencies' a shortcoming.

Next time we'll search for other VRBO's in that nice cluster of homes and check the info more carefully.

Owner's Response: Hi Herb - thanks for your review and for staying with us. We're a little confused because the toilet downstairs isn't down a long hall, it's adjacent to the downstairs master bedroom. We aren't able to get wifi at Hummingbird Raven House because wifi in Yosemite West is satellite, and trees around the house block a clear view of the South sky. We explain this in our listing as we want guests to know before booking that we don't have wifi. We really hope that in the future Yosemite West will have DSL as we want wifi, too! The store in Yosemite Village does carry phone cards, and although there is no cell coverage in Yosemite West there is cell coverage in Yosemite Valley.

We had a wonderful time at Pine Arbor Retreat. Highly recommended!

  • 5 of 5

Our two families of 4 had a wonderful time at Pine Arbor Retreat. The house was spacious and clean, and the surrounding area is beautiful. It's a 20-30 minute drive to Badger Pass and Yosemite Valley. Because Yosemite West is at a higher elevation, there is always more snow there in the winter than in the Valley or Wawona. Perfect because the kids love playing in the snow! Owners were always very responsive to my inquiries. We highly recommend it!
