About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

Please read our full listing before sending a reservation request.

Yosemite West is inside Yosemite National Park. It is a 25-35 minutes drive to Yosemite Valley attractions, 30 minutes to Glacier Point and 30 minutes to Mariposa Grove and Wawona. This is also the closest lodging for Badger Pass Ski Area, with downhill and cross country skiing and snowshoeing - only eight miles away from your door.

This Yosemite West home is located close to the Glacier Point Road, so you are very close to Taft Point and Glacier Point, the most spectacular views of Yosemite Valley.

This house sleeps a maximum of 8-10 people. We cannot accommodate more than 10 guests.

Minimum age of primary renter: 25.

The Hummingbird Raven House has a spacious deck high in the trees which is a wonderful place to eat dinner and enjoy the sunset.

Please note that our house has a spiral staircase which may be difficult for elderly folks and small children. Our other Yosemite West vacation home, the Hummingbird Pines House (VRBO 470093) is more suited to elderly guests as it has only 2 steps into the house and bedrooms on the ground floor.

INTERNET AND CELL SERVICE: Please note that we do not have wifi, because trees around the house block satellite reception from the South sky. There is also no cell service in Yosemite West. Cell service is spotty in Yosemite Valley. There is paid wifi available in Yosemite Valley.

Minimum stay of 2 nights.

Up to 2 children under age 3 stay free, 10% discount on one week stays. (Please let us know if any of your children are aged 3 and under when you fill out the inquiry form.)

We accept dogs on a case by case basis. We do not automatically accept all dogs. We only accept dogs who are not left unattended in the house or on the deck. There is also a fee and pet deposit required.

The master bedroom has a king size bed and a half bath. Upstairs are two additional bedrooms, with a queen size bed and four bunks. All beds have down comforters and pillows. A convertible sofa-bed in the office sleeps 1 to 2 more guests. Note: we cannot accommodate more than 10 guests at a time.

This house is equipped with a full kitchen and a large dining table. There is a bbq and dining furniture on the deck, which is a wonderful place to enjoy dinner and watch the sunset.

Like most homes in Yosemite West, the Hummingbird Raven House does not have air conditioning. We do have individual room fans. Our location is 6,000 feet of elevation, so generally remains cooler than Yosemite Valley.

About Michelle and Peter

Peter and Michelle

We have visited and loved Yosemite for many years, and are thrilled to have vacation rental homes in the park. We love Yosemite for hiking, climbing, snow shoeing, wildlife viewing and spending time in nature. Please feel free to email us with questions!

Michelle and Peter purchased this house in 2010

Why Michelle and Peter chose Yosemite West

Hummingbird Raven is in the park, but outside the bustle of Yosemite Valley so it is quiet and peaceful. This house is ideal for groups of family and friends who want a nice house to come back to after a long day of adventure

What makes this house unique

Yosemite West is inside the Park boundaries, so it's a perfect location to enjoy Yosemite (20 minutes to Yosemite Valley and Glacier Point, and close to various trailheads). It has the advantage of being very close to the Badger Pass ski area, and being at a higher elevation than the Valley, which keeps the temperatures more comfortable in the summer months.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for letting us stay in your home. The house was wonderful and we loved staying inside the park. Easy access to the Valley! The kitchen was great to cook in with all utensils. We loved dinners on the deck with sunset view. Deer spotting a bonus!

What a beautiful cabin!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was perfect for us! There were only four of us, so plenty of extra room. The view from the back deck as we used the BBQ was awesome. I highly recommend this cabin for your Yosemite trip. 20-30 minutes from all the main trail heads.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for staying with us, Cameron! We love our deck, too - it makes you feel like you're up in the trees! Have a wonderful summer!

Wonderful cabin!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I had a great getaway at the Hummingbird Raven House. The cabin was nice and clean, and very welcoming to come back to after a day out exploring Yosemite. Peter and Michelle were very communicative and helpful in recommending fun things to do in the off season. We highly recommend this cabin, and would happily stay here again.

The place is being kept at 60 degrees at all times so I will never go back there! Outside temp. is in the 20"s at night and no fireplace.

Owner's Response: To the best of our knowledge, the heat has been working fine, but we are making a trip to the house to investigate. Mary (the guest) had our contact info, and we always ask guests to call us with any issues. We never received communication from this guest during her stay about problems with the heating, otherwise we would have immediately sent our caretaker to help. Hummingbird Raven House does not have a fireplace, but we do have two houses in Yosemite that do have fireplaces: Hummingbird Pines House in Yosemite West, and Hummingbird Pika in Wawona.

A wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Peter and Michelle's place. The place is in a great location for Yosemite - we were so thankful to be so close to everything. Its very private and peaceful. We loved spending time on the deck in the evenings and enjoying the last few hours of sunshine. The space itself is great - lots of room, we really enjoyed the open plan living area which enabled us to cook and socialise at the same time. The bedrooms were very comfortable and the whole place extremely clean. Communication with Peter and Michelle was great -informative and very clear. On their advice we shopped before entering the park and this worked perfectly, and meant we could really make the most of being in Yosemite for our entire stay. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
