Yosemite West is inside Yosemite National Park. It is only a twenty minute drive from El Capitan and Yosemite Village, and all the main attractions of Yosemite National Park. This is also the closest lodging for Badger Pass Ski Area, with downhill and nordic skiing--only eight miles away from your door.

This Yosemite West home is located just a mile from the Glacier Point Road, so you are very close to Taft Point and Glacier Point, the most spectacular views of Yosemite Valley.

The Hummingbird Raven House is a newly renovated and furnished home, with a spacious deck high in the trees.

Please note that our house has a spiral staircase which may be difficult for elderly folks.

The master bedroom has a king size bed and a half bath. Upstairs are two additional bedrooms, with a queen size bed and four bunks. All beds have down comforters and pillows. A convertible sofa-bed in the office sleeps 1 to 2 more guests. Note: we cannot accommodate more than 10 guests at a time. We also have a 2 night minimum.

About Michelle and Peter

Peter and Michelle

We have visited and loved Yosemite for many years, and are thrilled to have a vacation rental in the park.

We love Yosemite for hiking, climbing, skiing, wildlife viewing and spending time in nature. Please feel free to email us with questions!

Michelle and Peter purchased this house in 2010

Why Michelle and Peter chose Yosemite Area

Hummingbird Raven is in the park, but outside the bustle of Yosemite Valley so it is quiet and peaceful. This house is ideal for groups of family and friends who want a nice house to come back to after a long day of adventure

We love Yosemite for hiking, climbing, skiing, wildlife viewing and spending time in nature.

What makes this house unique

Yosemite West is inside the Park boundaries, so it's a perfect location to enjoy Yosemite (20 minutes to Yosemite Valley and Glacier Point, and close to various trailheads). It has the advantage of being very close to the Badger Pass ski area, and being at a higher elevation than the Valley, which keeps the temperatures more comfortable in the summer months.

Good Value

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five was extremly happy with the hummingbird raven house. We thoroughly enjoyed the large deck and the grill. The property is very close to several of the park's iconic destinations. It is a very comfortable house and the kitchen was well equiped. The owners were responsive to our emails. All in all a very pleasent experience.

Beautiful home and location

  • 5 of 5

Great experience. The location is inside of Yosemite and it is totally worth it. The home has a large deck and a gas grill. We were able to grill every night after a long day of hiking. The hosts are very interested in making sure that you have a well-planned trip so that you can see the sights and plan out a reasonable day. There is plenty of tourist information inside of the house. We even watched some of their Yosemite DVDs that they had in the house. That was a nice touch! You can't go wrong with this house!

Nice cabin, but needs some TLC.

  • 3 of 5

The cabin is nice with a good kitchen. It is located in Yosemite West, which means about a 40 min drive into Yosemite Valley. If you plan on enjoying the park (I was here Sept 2016), then you really will only be eating breakfast, maybe dinner and sleeping here. The air conditioning works well. It is dead quiet in the mornings.

The only problem was that the place was dirty. Someone needs to come in and do a thorough cleaning of the place. Washing towels, linens and wiping the countertops isn't enough. The sofa and chair covers are filthy and should just be tossed. We didn't feel comfortable sitting on them and covered all the furniture with sheets to sit on them. The bathroom and kitchen floors need to be mopped. I know everyone has different standards of cleanliness, but when you walk around the house with bare feet and then your feet are dirty 1 hour later, the floors are dirty.

I know the purpose of coming here is to disconnect, but there is absolutely no cell of wifi service at this place. There is no entertainment except for dvd's and a puzzle. For the price you paying, these owners need to suck it up and get a dish to provide wifi service to their guests.

Thank you for letting us stay. Yosemite is an incredible place. Glacier point is near the house and that area is worth a day or two of exploration.

Owner's Response: We're glad you enjoyed the park and the proximity to the main tourist areas. Both Yosemite Valley and Glacier Point and magnificent natural features and we're glad you had the opportunity to enjoy them. We've contacted our housekeepers about the issues you raise, but please keep in mind that there is a very tight window between the previous guests leaving and your group arriving. Regardless, for the type of issues you discuss it would have been reasonable to have made us aware of these concerns and work toward remedying them. A few comments regarding internet access, because this raises an important topic we need our guests to be aware of. We state in the listing that there is currently no internet (and TV) access at the house, similarly there is virtually no cell reception in Yosemite West. Neither internet access nor TV reception is possible at the cabin because there is not a clear view of the southern sky, necessary for satellite reception. Further, dsl/cable has not been installed by the utility companies to Yosemite West. Regardless, internet access is something that we want at the cabin too and will get it once it becomes available.

OK, but know the limitations.

  • 2 of 5

The cabin is located in a quiet neighborhood and in a peaceful setting. It is dated and in need of a deep cleaning, but was fine for my group of 5 men who were hiking and climbing in Yosemite. I would not advise bring a wife or significant other. Do not plan on doing any involved cooking because of a lack of enough pots and pans. It would be a bit cramped for a larger group because there is only one shower/bath and it is on the top floor. The owners were easy to work with and their instructions were clear and precise.

Owner's Response: Anthony, thank you for your comments. We will address your issues with our housekeepers. We have many guests who do extensive cooking at the house, including Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, so lack of pots and pans has not been a problem, but we will discuss with our housekeepers as well.

Privacy, roomy, well appointed kitchen for cooking, wonderful deck to enjoy coffee or a meal!

  • 5 of 5

A few basic maintenance items should be addressed (basic light bulb replacement; window cranks broken; dusty shades & fans; trash removal bin access) but OVERALL extremely "CHARMING" and "COMFORTABLE" for a great journey in Yosemite National Park! Don't miss out on hiking Taft Point/Fissures and

Sentinel Dome (14 miles from the house) - short hikes with incredible vistas and also drive the two extra miles to Glacier Point! Yosemite Village is about a 20 minute drive for popular trailheads and have pizza at Denigan's " Loft" at the end of the day!! We also enjoyed hiking at Hetch Hetchy again as the waterfalls were incredible as was the Vernal/Nevada Falls trail (Mist Trail). We hope to stay at the Hummingbird Raven House again in the future - thank you!!
