About Bill Day
We're a North Carolina guy and a Kentucky girl who lives in Florida and has a beautiful home in Virginia. And yes, I have done the impossible and converted a Kentucky girl to a Tar Heel basketball fan.
Bill Day purchased this House in 2005
Why Bill Day chose Meadows of Dan
While dating, we visited a Christmas Tree farm in Meadows of Dan and loved it. We decided to get married there and in looking for a minister, we also looked for land. We wanted long range views and finally found a lot in Edgeview Estates just off Belcher Mountain Road. In 2005, I was hating my job and decided to try one more backpacking trip. Went to the Smokies and came out with a couple of days left on my vacation. I decided to go up to our lot and take a sunrise picture that I could put in my office to keep my spirits up. I drove in early one morning and set up the tripod and waited for the sun. It was okay, but not a trophy shot. Packed everything up and headed back up Belcher mountain. Between my comings and goings, someone had put a for sale sign in front of Laurel Point. I met the owners at the house and it was a glorious day. I think I could see Canada. I was known as a fierce negotiator but I was putty in their hands. I knew I had to have that house. They came down a little and I offered them my sweaty handshake. It takes nerves to buy a house without your new bride having seen it. Obviously all is well that ends well. We decided that the worst thing we could do with the house is just let it sit there. We're 11 hours away and are lucky to visit 2 or 3 times a year. So far we have had excellent guests and feel good about sharing our house. Hope you come and visit. It's beautiful during the spring, cool in the summer and spectacular in the fall. Notice I didn't mention winter. A little too cool for this Tar Heel converted Floridian. Bill
What makes this House unique
Backpacked for over 30 years and the view from the deck is in my top five favorites in the Southern Appalachians .

Great meeting place!
Laurel Point Villa was a fabulous spot with phenomenal views. The house is very comfortable and well equipped with anything one might need for the stay. Bill, the owner, was so helpful with all of the up front communication. Overall a great experience and would come back in a heartbeat. It is very comfortable for three couples. We had four couples a couple of nights and there is a 4th queen bed futon, but would be a little tight for 4 couples for a full week. Would highly recommend renting the cottage next door if the group is larger than three couples.
A Must-Have for Home Cooks
In addition to the most breathtaking view ever, we were very pleased to find such a well stocked kitchen and pantry. Every appliance you could possibly want is in this kitchen. And not only that, but the stove top was a Thermidor Induction cooktop which was a first for us. Now, we're going to have to buy one for ourselves! It's really cool!
Bill sent alot of good information prior to our arrival which helped us plan accordingly and he was always available if we needed anything. This is a great property that I would highly recommend.
Incredible Home with a view
Accommodated 3 couples beautifully. Had everything we needed. House is nicely furnished and stocked with necessities. The amazing view can be seen from every room. Loved the layout and natural light. The porch provides a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the surroundings.
This is a great place if you’re looking to get away from it all! The furnishings are very nice, amenities top grade, and the view of the Blue Ridge cannot be beat.
Fantastic home and location
This is the second year that our group has stayed at this wonderful home. The location is ideal and the views from the deck are beyond description. The kitchen is very well equipped and the home is comfortable, well maintained and private. Bill is an exceptionally good host and it is our hope to return again.
Wonderful and peaceful getaway
This was the perfect home and location for my boys and I to spend time and relax around the holidays. Will definitely go again!
