Welcome to 51 Seagull Lane, located just north of Bethany Beach, Delaware, in Gulls Nest, a gated ocean-side community. Just steps from the private beach and Atlantic Ocean, Gulls Nest offers sun and sand in the summer months, and a quiet, tranquil getaway in the off season. And with beds for 12, (2 queens and 4 doubles) and three full baths, this home is perfect for large groups of family and friends (including pets!).
The Great Room, spanning almost the entire length of the house, is perfect for entertaining large groups. With a large dining room table and bar at one end, and a smaller card table at the other, there is space to feed all of your guests and visitors. There's also a 48" HD TV and high speed Internet access for those (hopefully few) rainy days.
The kitchen has newer appliances and there are two outdoor showers.
Clean, spacious, peaceful home away from home located in a gated, private community and beach. Large dining room/family room allows for family dining/game night and plenty of rooms for down time(for quiet time if needed). The private beach was also a plus. Our family will definitely come back again.
My family rented this house for a week, with my family coming in from DC, Massachusetts and California. The house is in a fantastic location - convenient to everything we could need or want (great grocery stores, Bethany Beach boardwalk, Ocean City, Rehoboth Beach), yet, secluded enough to feel like we could get away from it all. The proximity to the beach is great - a 30 second walk on the path right outside the house.
The house itself is due for some updating, but its comfortable and has a great layout. The kitchen is well-stocked with the necessary dishes and cooking items.
We were a bit disappointed in a few things. First, there were many minor issues regarding basic maintenance that needs attention - the windows in the kitchen did not close all the way and you could open them all the way without going outside and manually pulling them open. There were numerous holes in some of the sliding screen doors, which let in a lot of flies. The first floor bathroom is in dire need of repair/cleaning and there appeared to be some black mold. Many of the screens in the windows were bent, and therefore lets bugs/flys in. We had some nice cool nights and it would have been nice to go without the air conditioning and take advantage of the cool air. Also, there were no instructions with the house at all - we had no idea when trash/recyciling was picked up, who we should have called if there were any issues, anything we needed to do upon check-out, etc. Not that's its a big deal, because we didn't go to the beach to watch TV, but the TV is NOT a 48" TV, as described in the listing. With a little attention to minor repairs and a little effort into making guests feel a little more informed about the house, this would be an outstanding rental.
A couple other things to note: The private beach is great - not at all crowded(in June, anyway). The sign says no dogs May 1-September 30, but the unwritten rule seems to be that dogs are allowed before 9am and after 5pm. Dolphins could be seen swimming by daily. The Harris Teeter, open 24 hours a day, is only about 2 miles away and had everything we needed for the week. The Penguin Diner in downtown Bethany Beach was a great location for our 2 year old niece's birthday.
