We have just returned from our annual holiday and once again we have had a perfect stay in the comfortable, clean and spacious flat at Bay House on Bonchurch foreshore.
With the fantastic views over the English Channel, swimming in the sea, the lovely walk into Ventnor or to Shanklin and the friendliness of Jan and Dave and their family, this makes for a perfect holiday and we will be returning in 2017.
Just come back from a perfect holiday at Bay House. This was our second visit and we have already booked for next year.
The flat is excellent, very comfortable, spacious, clean and well equipped. The sun lounge is a real bonus where you can relax and admire the wonderful scenery. The pretty garden also gives the opportunity to take in the atmosphere and uninterrupted views of the sea, which genuinely is a stones throw away.
You will receive a very warm welcome from Jan and Dave, who are friendly, kind and helpful and will do all they can to ensure you have a wonderful holiday. Being Islanders they can tell you anything you want to know about the island and its attractions.
From this quiet location a short, flat walk along the front takes you to Ventnor where you will find a variety of shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants.
We would highly recommend taking a holiday at Bay House.
We had a wonderful holiday in Bonchurch and can think of no better place to relax and unwind. The flat is spacious and clean, with everything that you could need, and Jan and Dave are very welcoming and friendly.
Bonchurch is very quiet, but it is a pleasant and easy walk to Ventnor where there are lovely restaurants and shops. We have already booked for next year and can't wait to return.
we have been to bay house many times and have already booked for next year.
once again the flat was excellent, clean and spacious.
we had really good weather this time so was able to swim in the sea without leaving bags etc on the beach, as the flat is so close .
a most relaxing holiday and good to meet jan and dave again.
We have recently spent a week at Bay House and it certainly lived up to our expectations. Jan and Dave were very welcoming, and yes, we did take advantage of having a freshly prepared crab ! We were very comfortable there and the apartment is beautifully decorated. It was really nice to sit in the sun room in the evening reading and looking out for passing ships. We hardly had the telly on !
We spent an enjoyable day at the Steam Railway, also Calbourne Mill and Arreton Old Village where we found stationary engines and other objects of interest. One evening we went to the Shanklin Theatre where we enjoyed The Best of the West End.
We certainly hope to return in the future.
My parents have been coming to Bay House for years and coming home raving about it. Last year due to illness my father was unable to go on holiday so I went with mum - I now understnd why they kept returning and this year my husband and I will be returning with mum.
Jan, Dave and extended family were all so welcoming, the location peaceful a bit like you are floating on the sea when the tide is in (you will have to visit to see what I mean). Mum and took wine down onto the beech each evening and played bools, I cant believe I actully swam in the sea, it was actually warn or was that the wine.
We ate breakfast on the patio or in the conservatory on cooler days taking in the view. Walked some lovely walks and found some great pubs and cafes. When we ate at home (thats what the flat quickly feels like) we had fantastic lobster expertly prepared by Jan so we didnt even have to cook when we stayed in!
Looking forward to returning in June.
Bonchurch is a small charismatic village with undulating narrow streets and varied scenery. There is a village pond, the Pond Café, and the Bonchurch Inn all within a 15 minute walk. There are many other cafes, restaurants, and traditional pubs set within the surrounding villages of Ventnor and Shanklin. There is easy access to great walking along the flat esplanade to Ventnor, and to Bonchurch Down where more challenging hill walks with picturesque views can be experienced. Further South Wight coastal path routes also offer opportunities to explore this Lovely Island and historical interests. There are also many children's attractions available on the Island.
The beach is made up of shingle and sand, and set within a quiet location; perfect for relaxing and whiling away the hours swimming and sunbathing. At low tide the rock pools provide opportunities to explore.
