Overview

Van der Pekbuurt House Boat Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 4

A modern apartment with a romantic touch on a houseboat. Well renovated, clean and cosy. Tastefully decorated with great care for details. The apartment is equipped with all you could need to make it a home away from home.

The location is very close to the busy centre of Amsterdam but still in a quiet residential area. A nice place to return to after a day of exploring Amsterdam.

The houseboat has 2 separate double bedrooms; not many houseboats have this.

The kitchen is complete, so you can make the choice whether to eat out or make a home meal.

To get to central station takes about 10 minutes by bicycle and 15 minutes by foot. You can also take the bus for 1 stop.

Ferry free of charge taking you over 'het IJ' to central station 24/7, offering a beautiful view of the canal.

The patio was recently renewed and provides two areas to hang out; a place to eat at the picnic table and a place to enjoy your afternoon drinks.

Suitability:
  • children welcome
  • non smoking only
  • pets not allowed

Clean, bright and airy, with excellent bathroom storage and a very well equipped kitchen.

A very well presented property and in a great location. We enjoyed the ferry trip and short walk. leaving the hustle and bustle of the city behind after a busy day of sightseeing. The calm and quiet of the canal was a lovely contrast. Good internet connection. The central station had an excellent supermarket, where we bought a few supplies which we used for making evening meals on the boat, and Wagamama did a take out service which we used one night too.The kitchen was well stocked with crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment and it even had basic storecupboard ingredients.

The owner was excellent in communicating promptly and was helpful with any queries before we left home. I would definitely recommend the property to others.

If the windows had been bigger to take advantage of the views of the canal from the lounge it would have definitely been 5 star!

Awesome houseboat!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this lovely houseboat last month. It is located in North Amsterdam, and it is a very short ferry ride to the Central Station in Amsterdam. To get to the ferry station, it's about a 10-15 minute walk along the canal. The ferry is free of charge and it runs quite frequently. The houseboat is located in a residential area which was very quiet and safe. There are two grocery stores nearly. We travelled by car so parking was important to us. Parking is allowed during certain times of the day with a permit that Sanders provided, but he recommended we park at a Park & Ride (P+R Zeeburg I) which was very convenient and it only cost us 1 Euro per day. There are not too many restaurants around the area, but we did eat at the Number One Café nearby. The food selection was very good, and the food was very good.

The houseboat has two bedrooms on the top floor along with the bathroom. On the bottom floor, you have the kitchen and dining area. The kitchen was well equipped. We only used it for breakfast since we spent most of our day in Amsterdam. I believe there was a TV, but we never turned it on. The wi-fi worked well.

We rented bicycles in Amsterdam and rode them to the houseboat every day. You can take them on the ferry without any problem. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Lovely houseboat on a quiet canal

  • 5 of 5

My husband, a very good friend, and I stayed in this lovely houseboat for a week last month. It is located in north Amsterdam - a short ferry ride across from Centraal Station. It is a working canal, so it is very quiet. A pleasant 10-12 minute walk down the canal will get you to the ferry -- and they run every 5 minutes all day. There is a grocery and a great restaurant - The Number One Café nearby. We highly recommend it. Great food and wonderful service - and very reasonable.

The unit is on two floors -- the bedrooms are on the second floor as is the entrance - the salon and kitchen are on the lower floor. There is ample room for two couples, and the separate toilet room adds to privacy. The furnishings are very peasant, and the Wifii and TV worked well. The kitchen is stocked with dishes, glassware, etc. and has a small frig and dishwasher -- the owner provided coffee which was a nice touch. It was a bit chilly when we were there, so we didn't take advantage of the tables and chairs on the deck, but would have had the weather been more accommodating.

The only recommendation I might give is to have a few more clothes hooks on the bedroom walls -- there isn't much area to keep hanging garments. Sander was very accommodating and was informative when we checked in. We couldn't recommend this lovely houseboat more highly. We had a lovely time.

Lovely little property

  • 5 of 5

Houseboat was the perfect place to stay. Located in a quiet area but within a 15 minute walk of the ferry into the centre of Amsterdam, which runs every 5 minutes. The boat was comfortable, immaculate and well equipped. The owner was very flexible with regards our arrival time and refunded our deposit promptly. If we go back to Amsterdam we will definitely look to stay here again.

Gut gelegene & schöne Unterkunft!

  • 5 of 5

Car: not necessary

Located in a quiet residential area. It's a 10 minutes walk to the free ferry (runs 24 hours a day) which takes you in a couple of minutes straight to the Central station right in the middle of the city. From here all the major attractions of Amsterdam like the Anne Frank House, van Gogh museum etc. are easy to reach by bus or tram. The best way is however to rent bikes to move around like the locals.
