About Tombo Jones

Family of four, enjoy the cabin for use ourselves as well.

Tombo Jones purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Tombo Jones chose Suches

Our cabin is located right next to the Appalachian Trail and bordering the national forest. We love hiking and decided on this location based on its proximity to the trail. It is located just off the trail in Henry Gap, which is between Woody Gap and Blood Mountain.

Spotless, perfect cabin for our hiking week on the AT

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this cabin Nov. 4-11 2017.

My husband and I wanted to hike the AT to practice for a longer hike later this year. This cabin was the perfect launching pad for different hikes each day. We took my in-laws who hung out at the cabin, and explored the area during the days we were there. Hiking was AWESOME! One day right on the trail to Preacher Rock and Woody Gap, one day left on the trail to Blood Mountain, and several other local hikes. The cabin is literally steps from really great sections of the AT, and there is a very clear map to show you how to get there, you can't miss it.

My in-laws found a trout farm just down the road, so we were able to enjoy fresh fish one night.

The cabin is well appointed and super clean. Often when we rent homes, I clean before we move our stuff in.... I definitely didn't have to clean this house. It was spotless!

Bedrooms on each of the three floors, and lots of bedding and blankets for warmth. We enjoyed the fireplace each evening and even some mornings. There was lots of firewood, and even fire starters.

The kitchen is small, but has everything you need to cook for many people. Lots of pots, pans and utensils. We used the grill outside, which was also super clean.

There were toys in the basement for all ages, as well as a good assortment of DVD's. Swing outside, and a teeter totter. ping pong table inside, and although we didn't play, it was nice to know that there was entertainment at the cabin if we had just wanted to chill there.

This is (somewhat) a dry county so BYOB. They have beer at the corner store (3.8 miles from the cabin), but minimal wine and no liquor. The closest liquor store is in Helen. So bring your own! ;)

We didn't have service at or around the cabin (AT&T), but my in-laws had one bar (Verizon). There was excellent WI-FI in the cabin, and we just switched our phones to wifi assist.

The community restaurant 'Two Wheels of Suches' has great food, and is open weekends. We enjoyed the community small town feel of this place! It may not be open all year, but it was open mid-November.

We loved everything about this cabin, and hope to be back to enjoy it again.

Girls' weekend

  • 4 of 5

Three of my classmates and I spent a great weekend here....the cabin was beautiful and well-maintained....plenty of space and bathrooms for 4 women!!!! The only thing we disliked is there are no window coverings for most of the windows which is fine for daytime hours but we didn't like it after dark.....other than that, no fault found!!!!! Great place!!!!

Owner's Response: Mrs J, Thanks so much for staying with us. To paint a clear picture for future guests, there are window shades on all the bedroom and bathroom windows. The only windows without shades are the living room. Thanks for the feedback Mrs J.

Extra clean cabin and nice owners.

  • 5 of 5

We rented this cabin for a girls weekend. The owner was very nice and eager to help with anything we might need to make our stay better. The cabin was super clean which was a big plus for us. I would love to stay here again if we come back to the area.
