Most Fond Childhood Memories.
Summers I spent at the lake water skiing and campfires at night listening to scary stories.
My family also enjoyed very much going to the ocean.
At low tide, 5 miles out, sandbars would surface. These exposed sandbars were called the SPITS!
My mom and dad would go out to these areas and pick up Mussels and Eat right out of the water!
When you walked on the sandbars the Mussles would Close Up And Water would Spit out from the Mussles, That is how they came to be named the SPITS!
At 6:00 a.m. my dad would have me out on the flats water sking. The water was just like glass it was so smooth
At nights I would go giging for flounder, you would use a light and drag your feet on the bottom and the flounder would swim away. My dad took an old broom handle and put a long nail in the end of it, and that was my gear.

Close to Water!
A fabulous vacation home on the best part of Lake Lanier with beautiful, clear water. This house is supplied with everything you need, except for groceries and Publix is very close by. Fresh clean sheets, extra blankets and pillows, a fantastic grill, and everything you need to cook for a large or small group. Fuel dock very close by. This home has two living areas which was perfect for our older kids who wanted to stay up late. We slept 9 very comfortably. My husband was able to commute back to mid-town during the week. We typically rent homes from large property management companies, so we appreciated working with Anne. She is so helpful and was genuinely concerned that everything was just perfect for our family vacation. We hope to be back soon!
I spent a month at this fabulous house on the lake. The location was perfect and very close to atlanta! My kids loved the house and the cove was perfect for swimming. I would go back in a heartbeat.
We had perfect weather and a perfect week. Brought our boat and enjoyed the dock being so close. A little late getting this written, life is busy. But we will go back again, especially if we can continue to bring our boat.
I have been so busy since my return home from vacationing at Lake Lanier but I finally am able to take a few moments to say how my stay was with my family. We had such a wonderful time the girls are still commenting on it. There is plenty to do in the area and the atmosphere created really makes you feel right at home. We really don't fish, but the crappie and bluegill we saw made us want to and they were really big, we even saw a catfish one evening. We swam right off the dock most of the time when we weren't tubing and everyone had a blast. There is ample amount of comfortable seating inside and outside on the decks, and there is a convenient outdoor shower as well. The experience was very memorable and we will definitely be making plans to stay again. Thanks for welcoming our family with your generosity.
The Sheffield family had the pleasure to spend Thanksgivings at "Million Dollar View" lake house in 2012/2013. Mom’s angels were sitting on her shoulders, the day she found this lovely lake retreat. It was perfect for our very peculiar family! Yes, we are kind-of lake snobs since we grew on lake Lanier. We all have our own individual requirements.
A must for my older brother is a place that he can use his smoker. For turkey one night then his famous Boston-butt the next. The very large wrap around porch was able to provide Chris the location to cook his mouthwatering specialties and for us to stay out of his way.
My younger brother, likes a fire place and a separate area to watch the football games. Then at night, a large dock that will house all 5 of us while we fish. See, Michael needs running space when Mom, Judy and I lose our bait. This dock was just the right size.
Mom’s must is a huge deck to look upon the amazing lake and enjoying the quite while reading her book or to get away from us.
My sister-in-law and myself, require a small kitchen for easy clean-up, washer & dyer, a short walk unloading the car and a short walk from dock to the house for bathroom breaks while my brother baits our hooks.
This house had all of this, plus more. Did I mention, the wrap around glass window’s where you can lay on the couch and see the night stars, beautiful! Even with our large, loud family this lake retreat offer peace. I wish we were their this thanksgiving but due to other commitments the family was not able to escape to what we now call our quite lake retreat.
My husband and I stayed at this lovely home this summer, and I haven't stopped thinking about it since. The view pics here do not do it justice - and not just that, it was EVERYTHING we were looking for. Even our friends - and their parents (who are realtors) - were thrilled with this home. My guests had their own space downstairs while we had ours on the upper level, and the view down there was equally as spectacular. Their was a gift basket left for us full of necessary, often forgotten, essentials, as well as a plethora of towels and blankets and plates, etc. The quality of the furniture, the bedding, and the washer and dryer exceeded our expectations. It was such an amazing experience that we are considering buying our own pontoon boat and getting our own place on the lake...if we could ever find a view as amazing as this.
The only warning I would give is: If you have little ones, you will need to get creative or be extremely mindful when on the top-level deck. Enjoy!
