|Minimum Stay||3 - 4 nights|
This unique apartment is part of a historic building with traditional wooden doors, which was recently re-certified by the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture as being emblematic of Old San Juan’s heritage. Yet it provides all the modern amenities you wish for on vacation: A/C, a fully equipped kitchen, queen size bed on a cozy Loft reached by a spiral stair, Free Wi-Fi Internet with easy-to-use Roku streaming video player and free access to Netflix, Pandora, news and other channels. It has a coin laundry right next door and parking buildings just 3 blocks south. It lies in a quiet street just steps away from the San Cristobal Fort. A tunnel used to connect this property with the fort during colonial times. The tunnel no longer remains, but part of its entrance is preserved. Some of the best restaurants in the area are just two to three blocks away. A café with the most valuable espresso machine in the entire Caribbean, and coffee which reflects that in its flavor, is just around the corner.
Some of the best and most original restaurants in the area, including The Parrot Club, Tantra, Toro Salao and many others are just a few steps away as well. The apartment is not recommended for young children.

We recently added as well apartments in the modern part of San Juan for you to visit and enjoy the "beach front" lifestyle of Puerto Rico and two "hidden get a ways" around the Island.
The apartment was perfect for two people, and it's in a fantastic location in Old San Juan! The apartment itself was cute, clean and well maintained. It definitely helped having a fully equipped kitchen for the days we decided to have a late morning and make breakfast ourselves.
What an amazing apartment! It's clean, cozy and close to all the things you want to do in Old San Juan. The street noise can be a bit distracting if a boat is in port late but can be easily controlled by closing doors & windows. Not for kids or elderly as it is a loft with tiny spiral stairs leading to it. Perfect for a vacationing couple. Highly recommended staying here.
This place was perfect for us. We loved the location, the convenience, the ease of moving around the city so easily. This restored, historical house made the trip for us. It really has everything we needed for a relaxing trip while leaving us quite independent. For a building that is several hundred years old, they have done an amazing job of preserving the history while making it suitable for the modern traveler...AC, hot shower, Wifi, Roku...The pictures and descriptions they give are very accurate. Read through them to see if its for you.
Perfect. Stay here.
I hope to come back to PR and stay here again soon.
Check in and check out was a breeze. The apartment was clean and nicely appointed. The location was the best part. We were literally steps away from great restaurants and all the action in old San Juan.
We had a Great Time in the appartment which is very Nice and ideally located in the beautiful city of Old San Juan.
One block from Plaza Colon and Fort San Cristobal was a great place to spend a week in Old San Juan. The home is just right for one or two young people but the spiral stairs to the loft bedroom were tricky for an older couple. Also, the bathroom is really small. The kitchen had all that you would need: plenty of mugs, plates, coffee filters. So many of the restaurants served such large portions that we always had doggie bags which we reheated in the microwave the next day. Loved the location and felt very safe.
Enjoyed good, inexpensive breakfast two mornings at Mallorca. Recommend Mallorciana for a splurge. It is the oldest restaurant in Old San Juan. You can walk everywhere or take the free trolley. We took the guided walking tour the first day of our vacation to get oriented. Worth the $40 cost.
The staff were easy to contact and were helpful. They even let us check out a couple of hours late (for free) to coincide better with our flight home. The apartment was roomy with a (typically) small but functional bathroom. The kitchen had been redone, but we only used the refrigerator. There was a small flat-screen TV, but it was connected to a Roku which no one thought to teach us how to use. I figured it out before I had to call for help. There were two air conditioners that were more than adequate to keep the apartment comfortable.
There were two drawbacks from our point of view. First, there were no windows with glass. Because most days were in the mid 80s F., we used the air conditioners most of the time when we were in the apartment. With no windows, it was a little like being entombed. Of course, we were not in the apartment much during the day.
The second problem was more serious and would have prevented us from renting the unit had we known about it in advance. The "bedroom" was in a second floor loft. It was necessary to climb a very tight, narrow spiral staircase to get to the loft. If you are younger (my wife and I are 68), this might not seem like much of an issue, but people our age worry about falls and breaking bones. Also, most of us need to make at least one trip per night to the bathroom. That means going down and then back up those stairs in the middle of the night. Although we survived the week without incident, we were nervous every time we used the stairs.
I think the best thing about the apartment was its location, right in the old city. We walked all over the old city to restaurants and tourist attractions. I don't understand people (Americans) who go to a place with so much history and then stay in a big American-style hotel on a beach. Why bother to leave the 50 states?
Old San Juan is the oldest city on US Territory and part of the World Heritage. It is about 8 by 8 blocks of unique colonial style architecture and offers everything from restaurants, bars, Puerto Rican coffee shops, galleries, open air music, nice paths to walk by the Port & Ocean, tourist shops to grocery store, pharmacy, Marshalls and Starbucks. The closest unofficial beach is in front of the Capitol Building in about 10-15 walking minutes from almost anywhere in Old San Juan. The nearest blue flag beach is called El Escambron and can reached in about 25-30 minutes walking along the Atlantic Ocean or in about 5 minutes by car/ taxi or bus. Old San Juan has a bus station from where you can go to Plaza Las Americas, the biggest mall in the Caribbean, to the Convention Center, as well as to Condado and Isla Verde, the other two main tourist spots along the coast of San Juan. Condado and Isla Verde are the modern parts of the city and have great beaches, hotels & casinos & much more...
