2 bedroom, 1 bathroom cabin on forested lot at the base of Mount Pisgah
Rustic and inviting cabin along a lovely mountain creek, borders Pisgah National Forest. You will love relaxing on the deck under the trees listening to the peaceful sounds of our creek. Inside your private retreat you will find a full kitchen, loft with queen size bed and full size bed in the downstairs bedroom. Comfortable dining and living areas with TV, Blue Ray player and free high-speed wireless Internet access. Spend the cool evenings in front of a cozy fire.
Nestled at the base of Mount Pisgah, your backyard is over 80,000 acres of protected National Forest. Enjoy hiking, mountain biking, and long nature walks just outside the front door. Take a leisurely drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway, just four miles from the cabin. At Creekstone Cabin you're only a 20-minute drive to Asheville and the best the area has to offer in attractions, entertainment, dining, shopping, outdoor activities, and more.
INSIDE THE CABIN
The upstairs loft is accessed by a narrow spiral staircase to the catwalk (see pictures) leading to the bed area at one end and and the dressing area at the other. Please mind your head up here as the ceiling is vaulted and the highest clearance is only 6 feet. The queen size bed faces creek side, letting you drift off to sleep to its soothing sound. When you awaken, you will find yourself just below canopy level looking down on the moss and rhododendron-covered back yard; a great way to greet your day. The downstairs bedroom has a full size bed that also faces creek side so everyone gets lulled to sleep by the burbling creek.
The kitchen is fully equipped with cookware, bakeware and your serving/dining needs. The kitchen has a microwave, toaster, mixer, utensils, paper and cleaning products, and full sized stove and range; everything you need to prepare a great meal. In the cabinet above the microwave you will find growlers to a couple of our local breweries and we hope you put them to good use!
The living area is a great place to relax for conversation or a good book in front of a crackling fire. Enjoy a movie from our library or stream from the cabin's Netflix account or your own streaming service via ROKU. Use your mobile device to stream your own music playlists through the Bluetooth equipped surround sound system. My cabin provides a great blend of rustic feel with the modern conveniences of the digital age.
The well lit bathroom has modern fixtures, and offers a shower/tub combination. While small it has what you need, including hair dryer, soaps and shampoo in case you run short, and all your linen/paper needs.
The three season deck is just about every guest's favorite feature; a spacious 16' x 20' with gas grill, teak furniture, tiki torches and deck umbrella complete with lights! Great for entertaining, reading, watching the humming birds, goldfinches, and cardinals all to the backdrop of the burbling creek. To sit out here wrapped in the nurturing embrace of the woods will renew your strength and replenish your spirit.
Off the back side of the deck is a path that leads across the creek and into the national forest. Enjoy a short hike to Stony Fork Creek (1/3 mile) or a 3 mile round trip journey up to the abandoned logging road on the ridge line above the cabin. Take a walk down the road and explore the modest homes and cabins in the area.
The Pisgah National Forest and DuPont Forest in the area offer more hiking than a person could possibly do in a lifetime. You will find hiking guide books and maps at the cabin that can help you decide which hikes are right for you. The Blue Ridge Parkway is 4 miles up the road from the cabin offering breath taking views, scenic drives, and (you guessed it!) plenty of hiking.
I'd like to say thank you for taking the time to consider booking my cabin. This truly is a special place that is precious to me; I miss living here every single day. My intent is to return and make Creekstone Cabin my permanent residence in 2020, maybe earlier if I'm very lucky. It has been a joy for me to share the cabin with like-minded people, looking for respite from life's demands. I am truly grateful to all my guests; you make it possible for me to hold on to this rustic gem.

I grew up in a navy family, living all across the US; from Hawaii to Florida. While serving my country, I was able to continue my travels and experience different cultures and visit many amazing places. I have a great appreciation of life's simple pleasures and I believe Creekstone Cabin is one of those special places where you can reconnect with nature and truly relax.
John purchased this Cabin in 1998
Why John chose Candler
The cabin was my primary residence for many years. I've since moved to Raleigh to pursue career opportunities but I could not bring myself to sell the cabin. One stay and you'll understand why; it's a small slice of heaven complete with a babbling brook to lull you to sleep. This truly is a rustic gem and I hope that all who stay at Creekstone Cabin will love it as much as I do.
What makes this Cabin unique
Enjoy the big stone fireplace with wood burning stove to warm up by. Upstairs loft-style bedroom feels like your staying in a tree house and both bedrooms face the creek side of the house. The deck is perfect for enjoying your favorite beverage while watching the hummingbirds and goldfinches. Take a hike in the Pisgah National Forest following the path right from the deck! There are modern touches that I've done my best to merge with the rustic - Surround sound with blue tooth connectivity, high speed wireless internet, LED TV, and all modern appliances.

Absolutely wonderful weekend
Absolutely loved the cabin!!! Everything was well stocked and the cabin was very cozy... Would recommend the cabin to everyone.. Wonderful walking trails also just right outside the back..Very quiet and peaceful...
Glad you had a wonderful time, Tangy!
Thank you for choosing my cabin as your getaway destination. Hope to have you back on your next visit to the Asheville area.
Had a great time
Glad you had a great time, Raul & we’d love to have you back as our guest.
Cute cabin & great host
The cabin was perfect! And John was a great host; the email before we arrived with local information and recommendations was very helpful and appreciated.
Perfect cabin for a girls getaway!
The cabin was very cozy and clean. It had everything that we needed. We didn't get to enjoy the trail through the Pisgah forest due to inclement weather. John provided us with a lot of helpful information about the area. The cabin was very easy to find. We stayed for 3 nights and had a great time. The spiral staircase was a little scary at first. One suggestion for making the cabin even better is to replace the 2 couches as they were older and not very comfortable. That's why I rated it 4 stars. Other than that the cabin was perfect for us. Thank you John and Beth!
Perfect cabin in the woods for a getaway
Had a great time in this beautiful cabin and the surrounding woods with our girls. Look forward to getting back sometime soon.
A Charming, Cozy Cabin in a Great Location
What a wonderful stay this was! The cabin is nestled in a little valley just a few miles down from the Blue Ridge Parkway, which puts it far enough away from Asheville that the only sounds you hear are from the brook in the back yard (but still close enough for you to drive in for dinner). The cabin and property are lovely. I was geeking out over the spiral staircase and bridge in the upper loft, which were really unique touches.
The cabin is VERY well-stocked, to the point where we ended up with plenty of bonus leftovers. Most places will include some pots and pans, but I was very pleasantly surprised to find multiple types of dishes, spices, oils, cleaning supplies, and other amenities. The kitchen was great to use as a result. It was also such a relief having access to a washer and dryer (going home with clean clothes just takes an extra bit of the mental load off). The wifi was strong for streaming videos off Netflix. The Bluetooth adapter for the speakers was a great touch, and we used it to play Spotify while we lounged around. Speaking of lounging: The little wood fireplace was such a warm and cozy touch! We loved using it each night.
The surrounding property is also wonderful and charming. The brook out back produces just the most relaxing natural noises, and I loved falling asleep to the sound each night. A small trail out back leads to a larger trail, and if you're willing to step a few yards off that one, a vigorous little stream. I was able to set up my tripod in the middle of it and snap a few photos and videos.
When you're not enjoying the cabin or property, I suggest taking a right at the end of the road and driving up the steep, winding road to the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are spectacular views at the closest pull-offs, and you're less than three miles either way from some excellent hikes. I recommend the Frying Pan Mountain Lookout Tower (turn right on the BRP; about a mile or two down, look for a gate on the right side of the road). If you need a hiking pack or walking stick, each are thoughtfully provided at the cabin.
All-in-all, this was a wonderful cabin, property, location, and trip. I'm already scheming to figure out how I can make my way back to the area so we can stay here again!
Thank you, Michael!
I'm so glad you made the most of your visit, making good use of the all the cabin amenities and taking the time to hike & explore the area. The stream you photographed behing the cabin is called Stony Fork; great photos - thanks for sharing! I'd love to be your host on future trips to the Asheville area. Thanks again for choosing my cabin.
