We keep going back!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have been visiting Channel House now for 6 years (I first reviewed it here in 2011).

First, I love Lopez Island. It is a laid-back, quiet, beautiful, relaxing place to be. We have so much fun visiting here. This trip we hiked to 4 different beaches; Shark Reef park has lots of seals and sea lions barking on the rocks and playing in the water, Watmough Bay hike is so peaceful and tranquil with the most beautiful, cyan bay you'll ever see, and we spent time searching the beach for agates at Agate Beach before hiking out to Iceberg Point. We also wandered through town and even though it's not very big we were able to waste hours in the shops like Paper Scissors on the Rock and the bookstore. And believe it or not my son loves to go to the dump on weekends where they have the island version of "one persons trash is another persons treasure".

Second, I decided it was time update my review of the house since so much has changed and all for the better. The owners have done a remarkable job of renovating the kitchen area - it is well stocked from crockpot to knives. The island is huge and the two dishwashers make cleaning up after a crowd a breeze. Between the table and the island it is easy for feed a group - I was here last spring with a ladies group of 12 - and set a beautiful table. The bathrooms have been upgraded and the rooms all have comfortable bedding and fun decor. The new hot-tub (a couple years ago) was a welcome upgrade, the kids could spend all day in it. There is a huge yard - perfect for all kinds of games. But the best is wandering down to the beach for a stroll either north to Big Rock or south to the boulders (turn them over to see the little crabs scurry), then head back for a cocktail on the wrap-around sunny deck and enjoy the sunset.

Comfortable large estate

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time. Everyone was very comfortable. The art/decorations were very nicely done and brought us back to a bygone era. Hot tub worked great. Would love to come back again.

Great house, great location

  • 5 of 5

The house was great for our family vacation with 6 adults and one child, and would comfortably fit a couple more if needed. There is beach access. There is a local property manager who was very friendly and helpful and made sure we had everything we needed.

Wonderful Retreat

  • 5 of 5

This upscale home affords panoramic sunset views over San Juan Channel. The house itself is perfect for a group. Plenty of room to gather and beautiful big kitchen that is well stocked with all the dishes you'll need for your gathering, also bedrooms and bunk room and decks that allow everyone to find their quiet space as needed. The property manager, Terry, was attentive and helpful while giving us our privacy. We'll definitely be back!

What a relaxing beautiful place

  • 5 of 5

We stayed over a weekend with 3 other couples. What a great place to relax, dine, play games, go for a beach walk and explore the island. Love the Lopez wave. I love the big island with chairs all around. You can participate in helping to make meals or just sit and watch. We ended up having a couple of meals there and then used the long more formal table for the other meals. It's a super comfortable home. The best part is the view and the sunsets are awesome. There's a resident eagle's nest not far away so you are almost guaranteed seeing them. We plugged our IPhone's in the Bose set up and had music to fit the mood! The beds and linens were super comfy. The décor is also classy and well done. Would highly recommend. Go make memories and relax. I would also like to comment on the review that suggested there were bats or bed bugs..... The house is spotless and there are no bed bugs or bats!!

Most beautiful place in all the world

  • 5 of 5

We celebrated the 20th annual ladies kayak adventure aka Peggy's Passionate Paddling Pals this weekend and stayed at the Channel House on Lopez Island. It was such a wonderful place for all the ladies to have a large place to gather and celebrate this annual event. The layout of the house gave large areas to share and more quiet spaces for reading and journaling. There was plenty of room and comfortable clean beds with soft sheets! The house was spotless and just about every amenity one could hope for including two dishwashers !! The hot tub was clean and such a wonderful place to relax after a long day of kayaking. The huge deck view was so beautiful and just a long stair case away from the beach. Interesting and eclectic art filled the walls! Terry the manager was accessible to meet our needs. I was also able to access the owners while seeking information about if this house would meet our needs. There was an informational notebook to tell us about the house and all the cool things to do while on Lopez.I felt like I was sharing such a special place with my friends which will never be forgotten by all the gals. We have rented many houses over the years but never one as awesome as the Channel House. We hope to return next year and hope all of you reading this will have a chance to rent this most beautiful slice of paradise!
