Great location in a restricted area, via dè guicciardini is the connection from Pitti Palace and Ponte vecchio , really center of the city. All the major sightseeing in florence are one minute walk, restaurants, grocery, shops and museum out of the door.Located in a gallery , the most famous gallery where 'Machiavelli' wrote the Prince and died, an internal courtyard rich of ceramic pieces, is your view from the balcony. The ceramic shop on the ground floor is full of colours that represents Tuscany, this region so admired and rich.
Stayed here with my parents on a whim, Mery was such a pleasure! She advised us on great local places to eat, and things to see. Location is great just maybe 100 yds to the bridge. The apt. has an elevator that can accommodate 3 people which is great because we walked a LOT! Wifi tv, and lots of travel books! The place was clean, and warm, but could use some updating, especially the beds. Of the 3 bedrooms, 2 of them had single cot like beds which were uncomfortable, and quite noisy / squeaky. Those 2 bedrooms are on the street side of the property, i.e street noise which if you are a light sleeper maybe a factor. That said the location superseded the noise! This place is a gem, the double locking gates make you feel quite safe and secure. The proximity to everything is amazing, and again Mery is just the nicest. I would stay there again in a heartbeat if they change out the beds in one of the other rooms!
Communication with Mattia is friendly and efficient. Mattia is responsive and helpful. We were met upon our arrival to the apartment. She showed us around and helped us to settle in. The three bedroom apartment is tidy with a homey feel. The furnishings and interior are very basic, but more than adequate. The two bathrooms are clean, but very small. There is a nice little kitchen which we did not really use except to rinse a few dishes and store some wine. We had plenty of towels and blankets. The apartment is on the fourth floor which is reached via a winding staircase or "vintage" elevator. There is not really a living room, only a small futon and a TV. There is a small dining table with chairs also. The location is really great. It is situated just down the street from the Point Vecchio Bridge. There are lots of shops and cafes nearby. Additionally, We enjoyed visiting Mattia's ceramic shop located just underneath the apartment. Overall, we were very happy with this property. It is not fancy, but it is safe and comfortable. We gladly recommend this property for your stay.
We just returned from a 9 day stay in Florence where my family of 4 stayed at Mery's apartment. As noted below, the apartment is not luxurious but it more than met our family needs. The three bedrooms gave everyone a cool place to rest and sleep. You have to pass through two heavy, locked iron gates to gain entry into the apartment building at night which made it feel very secure. The kitchen is small but perfect to store provisions and make coffee. The highlights of the apartment are the location-about a 5 minute walk to all of the major sites and the fact that Mery is available daily as she owns and works in the first floor ceramic shop. The first day, the water heater was not working and Mery fixed it by the time we returned from sightseeing. When we needed to book a taxi for our return trip to the airport, Mery helped us immediately. She also gave great recommendations for restaurants and Gelateria. One note of caution, the apartment is on the 4th floor. There is a small elevator, but it is not the most reliable, so be prepared to climb stairs. I would recommend this apartment to any family looking for a clean, safe place to stay during their visit. WE would definitely return. Mille grazie, Mery for a wonderful family trip!!!
Our family needed a place to stay for the night and this was perfect - neat and clean and quiet while only a block from the Ponte Vecchio, and very reasonably priced. The owner Mari was so kind and helpful. When we showed up at her lovely ceramic shop, she stopped everything, locked up the shop and took us to the apartment above her shop. We are a family of 6, but it could sleep 8 easily. What a deal for the price! Do not expect the Pitti Palace..this is a modest place that is a bit Spartan, but it is clean and comfortable, safe, and incredibly quiet for where it is located. Mari was so nice that she even kept our bags way past checkout time so that we could wander a bit more around Florence. I gave it 4 stars because it was just right for us. I would give 5 stars for Mari!
Accommodated 6 adults well. Mary was very helpful. Very good restaurant
next door. Loved the area!
Location. Location. Location. When the taxi dropped us off from the airport, some of my family thought that we had been abandoned in the heart of Florence. It turns out that we were "close to everything." Stick your head out the window and see Ponte Vecchio down the street! Our host, Mery, runs the ceramic shop downstairs and subsequently was always there when we needed anything. It turned out that the only thing we needed was tourist info (dining, museums, tickets ....). Mery was very nice as well as helpful. We were a family of 6. The apartment was clean and large enough for all of us. The kitchen was adequately stocked with cooking supplies. It was hot so closing the window blinds during the day and running the ceiling fans at night was a must. You are in the centuries-old downtown and as a result there will be a lot of people in the region. When it's hot and windows are open you may hear people in the street. We walked to all the attractions we visited and anywhere we ate. Would definitely return.
