Very well-appointed, clean casita in a great location.

  • 4 of 5

My brother and I had a great week staying at Carella's casita. The place is well-appointed with everything one would need, including extras like water bottles and a cooler. We even took advantage of the DVD collection and library on our nights in. Carella is attentive, communicative and makes sure that you have everything you need. The back patio is great for morning sun and watching the hummingbirds as well as an evening fire. It was too cold to use the unheated pool during our February stay unfortunately, but we did enjoy some afternoon sun sitting next to it. Note that the pool is shared between the casita and the main house. Also, if you're not a fan of little dogs, this might not be the neighborhood for you as we heard a handful during our stay, including little Maisie at the main house-- she's cute, but she'll let you know that she's around. ;) Carella is very attentive to her barking though. All in all, I'd recommend the property. Thanks Carella for a great stay!

Perfect Place for R & R

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent three weeks in Tucson. It is the longest vacation we have ever taken and we felt right at home in this lovely setting. The house was beautifully appointed, and the owner thought of everything from coffee grinder and slow cooker to hiking sticks and sun hats. The bird feeders in the backyard attracted all kinds of beautiful birds and wildlife as did the zen garden in front. Even the orange trees , although sour, were the perfect addition to ice tea. The entertainment center was far reaching (Netflix, Amazon), as was the video library. It was the perfect place for us to soak up some sun, relax and escape a very cold and rainy Seattle winter.

Absolutely beautiful casita in the desert

  • 5 of 5

Carella's property is one of the most comfortable houses we have ever rented. It is perfect for one or two couples. It is very private and quiet with all of the amenities one could wish for. The desert is all around -- beautifully landscaped. There are bird feeders in the back yard, and the bird life is amazing. It is well situated for visits to Saguaro NP, and the wonderful Sweetwater Wetlands are only about 5 mi away if you are interested in more amazing birding. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Calm and peaceful retreat

  • 5 of 5

This home was so nice and out where you can enjoy the desert, see wildlife and be totally relaxed. Carella is so kind and always there if you need anything. I had my family there so we used every inch of the home. It is perfect also for a couple just wanting some time away from all the hustle. It is so private. You won't be sorry you booked this charming home.

Wonderful! Exceptional!! Forever Memories!!!

  • 5 of 5

We feel bad that we didn’t submit this review earlier. But now, as we reflect on what was a memorable experience, we’re sending it, and doing it with boundless smiles.

In September, my husband and I stayed at Carella’s casita. It proved to be the perfect spot for what we were looking for—peace and relaxation. We can say without hesitation that after staying at other vacation rentals, none could compare to our experience at Carella’s.

Carella was extremely friendly, and there with helpful information and suggestions.

The house itself is the perfect size with a very comfortable kickback at-home feel to it. The back of the house opens to the desert beauty with a magnificent view Catalina Mountains.

The back veranda area was a favorite spot. Sitting there watching the sun rise over the Catalinas proved to be a special moment, and something we did every morning during our stay. To feel the cool desert night open up to a new day; the sun rising with the increased activity of bird songs was a perfect way to start the morning.

Carella provides a plethora of information on Tucson and the surrounding area that covers any imaginable subject of interest. There’s also an extensive library. We used both. So much so that when we returned home, we purchased one of the books we used there, Birds of Southeastern Arizona.

Birds were daily companions, seeing a variety of birds from songbirds to mourning doves to gambel’s quails, and hummingbirds. One morning we experienced a low-flying hawk, swooping just five feet above our heads. Close enough to hear the flap of the wings, and leaving us with the held breath of awe as it winged away.

We didn’t see any four-legged wildlife, but they were there. After we left, Carella was kind enough to share a photo from a neighbor who spied a bobcat and her offspring sitting on the wall of their back porch.

The swimming pool offered a pleasant cool from the heat. A nice respite after hiking and exploring.

The house is situated at a good get-off spot to experience the area, whether it be the Saguaros or the Catalinas, or Tucson itself.

During our stay, there was road construction going on at Ina, but Carella’s excellent directions to avoid it worked out great.

It was a wonderful stay, and a great memory. Thanks, Carella!
