This Cottage style home has just been lovingly revived using the talents of award-winning architect William McCullom to create a warm and comfortable retreat that shares the same historical reverence and eclectic artistry as its locale, downtown Three Oaks. Simply walk to the Acorn Theater and Vickers Theatre. Get spirited at the Journeyman Distillery. Stroll through boutique shopping, antique shops and galleries or venture out of town a bit to the shores of Lake Michigan with Warren Dunes State Park just minutes away. Explore farms and vineyards or visit the neighboring towns of Harbor Country. After you day's adventures settle back in to this warm and cozy home, noshing in the great room-style kitchen, night-capping in the 'Dining Study' or nestle up to the fireplace with a great book. Just 90 minutes from Chicago and 40 minutes from South Bend, making it a quick and easy mental refresh, plant yourself here for awhile.
The home is cozy enough for a couples or solo escape yet big enough for a group.
This is the 3rd time we've rented the home and we will be back . The only issue we had was regulating the water temperature and pressure in the showers.
We stayed here for our daughter's November 2016 wedding which was held at neighboring Journeyman Distillery.
Plenty of room for 5 adults and an infant! Room to spread out, get ready and relax between events.
Very pleased with the accommodations and amenities provided.
The home has been remodeled emphasizing its historic past but adding great modern features. The kitchen is well equipped. The decorations are charming. The natural light is amazing.
Everything worked well and was comfortable. The gas fireplace in the living room is a nice touch as well.
Would definitely recommend for local weddings, site seeing or just relaxing and enjoying all the area has to offer.
This charming house is well situated for quick access to the southwestern coast of Michigan. It is also right on the main street running through Three Oaks, where you can easily walk to any restaurant or shop in town. It is also next door to the Journeyman Distillery and terrific Staymaker restaurant (although they are fortunately set quite far back on their property.) We found the house to be charming, very clean and well-stocked with kitchen equipment, books and magazines and games. However, there was no soap in the shower or tub and no Kleenex in any bathroom, which was slightly inconvenient. Overall we enjoyed our stay. The gas fireplace and vintage decor were a plus.
We rented The Fourth Oak the weekend (10-08-16) of my son's wedding at The Acorn Theater. The wedding party stayed there both Friday and Saturday nights. It was so convienient for the bride and her bridesmaids to get ready there and then walk over to the theater. The house was easy to get into and the owner was prompt getting back to my questions. The house is adorable. Every room that we went into we would gasp or sigh. There are a lot of homey touches everywhere. All kitchen utensils and supplies are provided. You just need to bring the food. I would mostly definitely recommend this house to anyone interested staying in the area.
I thought it was beautiful. It was a bit to big for a couple. And the hot water was a bit flaky. The beads were great and all the amenities one would want. Didn't use the car all weekend walked all about town.
We found everything as we hoped it would be, clean and everything functioning. Fit our needs well. Thanks, hope to do it again.
