Mo's Place in Shelburne Falls, owner-occupied by Maureen (''Mo'') Moore, is a vintage, 1870s home offering a fully furnished second floor apartment with private entrance for travelers seeking a respite from life. Bounded by a lovely garden and views of the Berkshire hills, the home is a short walk down tree-lined streets to the village center, which is well-stocked with all the basic amenities, vibrant with the arts, blessed with great restaurants and coffee house, and rightly touted for its beautiful Bridge of Flowers that spans the Deerfield River. Despite its tiny size, the village has two bookstores, a wine merchant, a health food store and a grocery, a movie house specializing in vintage films as well as simulcast productions from the Metropolitan Opera and the London stage.
Minimum is one week , but extended stay is preferred over Fall-Winter (ie Sept-May) at special rates making it ideal for students, artists and writers over the winter months.
Located just off the scenic Mohawk Trail, it is conveniently located to the area's many attractions.
For outdoor enthusiasts there is easy access to snow sports at Berkshire East (10 minutes) and Mount Snow, VT (30-40 minutes), as well as hiking, biking, swimming, rafting, kayaking, rock-climbing and zip-lining in the milder months. It is equally well placed for exploring the cultural events in Amherst and Northampton,in Brattleboro, Vt, and in the Stockbridge area where you will find the Norman Rockwell Museum, Shakespeare and Company, and Jacob's Pillow--all convenient for day-tripping. Guests here can be as busy, or as quiet, as desired while enjoying the calm pace of an old-fashioned village.
Although there is no laundry on site, there is a conveniently located Laundromat in the village, just a minute or two away.
Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property. Small, well supervised pets might be considered.
I'm an artist, watercolors, and book designer and Shelburne Falls is a very artist friendly town, so I love it dearly. I reside and garden here with my buddy, Rufus a redhaired feline.
Maureen Moore Moore purchased this apartment in 2005
Dear Mo It was a lovey stay! Thank you for being so considerate of us. It definitely felt like home here. I love the art and decorations here, you have such great taste. I will miss being here and hope we will be back. thank you from Ika, Kim and Liu
This was our 2nd year in a row staying at Mo's Place. Cozy with it's own charm. The area is very nice. I91 is just about 10 miles away to the East for easy access to the North and South.
The only down side was that a bedroom disappeared from our first year and we had to use a cot. other than that, everything was great.
We recommend this rental. Dave and Carol Castagna.
Mo's place was clean and well-organized for guests to enjoy a private apartment and beautiful gardens. Filled with original art, antique furnishings, colorful rugs on the handsomely refinished wide-board floors; this guest apartment is charming. Natural soaps and creams, local gourmet coffee, a full compliment of cooking utensils; Mo thought of everything to make us feel at home. The Historic Village of Shelburne Falls is a short and pleasant walk and there's plenty of restaurants and sightseeing along the riverfront. Although there's a flight of stairs up, we enjoyed the separate entrance with convenient parking right in front. We'll plan to stay longer next time; as we'll surely be back!
Everything about your home was just as described. We couldn't have asked for better accommodations. The rental was clean as a whistle. Easy access from I-91.
We basically commuted to central Connecticut to visit friends and relatives though we did explore the area a little. The Connecticut river is nearby with a good boat launch.
Our hosts were great. We may be staying there next year (2016) if the timing is right and we have no problems recommending this rental to anyone
Arrived in Shelburne Falls feeling like an over-wound watch spring (by the way, does anyone actually remember ever having to wind a watch?), left one week later feeling relaxed, relieved and refreshed thanks to the ambiance of this quaint New England village. A wide variety of arts, shops and eateries abound, truly remarkable for a town of this size! Mo's place was our zen center for this wonderful sojurn and we recommend that you make it yours as well. Sincerest thanks to Maureen for sharing her amazing home with us. Vic & Erin
Thank you Mo for making our stay so comfortable. This was one of the best vacations we have had. The location of the property is ideal with access to everything you would need in walking distance.
The house had everything we need and more in terms of the Kitchen appliances.
Would definitely reccomend this to our friends and relatives.
We stayed for 10 days in July 2012. Just loved the upstairs apt. The place is adorable. Had everything we needed, kitchen is well stocked. There are ceiling fans and AC when needed. The town is wonderful, and wished we could move here! Thank you!!
