About Jacqueline Pizzey

I love the outdoors and enjoy finding new discoveries in and around Courtenay!

My favorite things to do would be cross country skiing on Mount Washington, hiking & walking the trails by Nymph Falls!

Jacqueline Pizzey purchased this house in 2011

Why Jacqueline Pizzey chose Comox Valley

This river-front property is a rare find. It was constructed in 1936, renovated and expanded in 1992. Then we again renovated and decorated in 2011/12. The cottage's quaint charm is refreshing in its idyllic location. You can feel something peaceful about the cottage as you relax and enjoy the river-view through its large windows.

From past guests' comments and reviews, this cottage seems to be exactly the type of stay everyone is looking for!

What makes this house unique

It's wonderful. You can swim, fish, hike, bike, walk, ski or relax with a book or a movie. It has something.. for anyone!

Come enjoy yourself. We know you will want to come back!

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

I booked the Riverfront Sanctuary cottage for a weekend away with friends a few weeks ago - we loved staying in the beautiful cottage, which was even more charming in person than the already good pictures. The cottage was extremely clean, all the bedrooms very comfortable and well-decorated, the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals, and the living room area had a beautiful view of the river.

Our plan for the weekend was to snowshoe on Mt. Washington which was a short drive away and it was lovely to come back to the place in the evenings and have the fire on. We wished we could have stayed longer.

Jacqueline was very responsive to all my emails and questions and all in all I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone.

Very well appointed and greaat location.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the river for a couple nights in January. This home is amazing even if you can't take advantage of the kayaks and tubes. We have stayed in lots of VRBO homes and this one was by far the best appointed. They have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. The beds were fantastic and the cleaning crew had done a great job.

Such an exceptional experience

  • 5 of 5

All 5 of us loved this place. The home was lovely, the beds were comfortable, and it felt fantastic that we could make a giant feast of food and everything we needed in the kitchen was there for us. From pots and pans, to baking dishes, to garbage bags, olive oil (that we forgot), to dish soap. It felt like we didn't even leave our house everything was so accessible. We hope to come back in the summer when we can actually enjoy the kayaks (too cold).

An amazing, beautiful, spectacular, cozy, impressive, convient and well equipped, in EVERY detail, stay we have ever experienced ! TEN star rating !!! What a wonderful home away from home to spend Christmas, which included an eloquent Christmas Tree. Thank you Jacqueline for taking the time to decorate the cottage for us, we cherished each and every moment during this special time of the year -- it was a very Merry Christmas we soon will not forget ! Many thanks for your warm hospitality and kindness, Donna and Gloria (Boynton Beach, Florida)

Perfect home on the river

  • 5 of 5

What a find! This spacious and well kept house was more than perfect for the three of us for our two weeks in rainy and windy October.

A house with a character, but everything updated, with very nice hardwood floors, and not even one floor board sagging! The interior design is professionally done with nice and cozy furnishing and elegant design. The central location was excellent for daily needs and grocery shopping and downtown Courtenay is a charming place just to stroll around. It must be paradise to stay there in summer when you can use the garden, porch, the BBQ, bikes and canoes!

The kitchen where you enter the house is a warm and cozy first impression and offers everything you will need to cook. We did almost all our cooking there and very much appreciated the excellent quality of the pots and pans. There are enough dishes so that you don’t need to start the dish washer after each meal and thus can save some energy and water.

Through a hall the very large and beautifully decorated living room with a window front to the river and an electric fireplace is reached. The window front has an open view to the river (which sometimes nearly reached the house when BC Hydro opened the dams) to observe the seals. There was even enough space to move the table there when we occasionally had friends over for dinner. WiFi worked very well with few interruptions. In front of the living room there is a large porch, which we could use just once with a somehow sunny afternoon – the rest of the time it at least offered the possibility to clear it from fallen leaves and thus get a lung full of fresh air when we had to stay home because of the weather. There are brooms as well as all cleaning stuff you may need to keep the house nice and tidy.

The three bedrooms are very cozy and comfortable. Plenty of thick and soft towels are provided.

From the lateral entrance to the house and from the hall, a stair leads down to the basement with a washer and dryer, a large room that served us very well as our wet clothes and boots and waders got warm and dry there.

Contact with Jacqueline was very pleasant right from the beginning and when we occurred a problem, she solved it as soon as she heard about it. We really hope to be able to stay in this wonderful house again. The only missing thing is a covered entrance to get off the wet clothes in a dry place and to open the key box upon arriving in pouring rain, but this is a small detail. All the rest was more than convincing

The Riverfront cottage was a lovely place to stay. We even got to watch seals in the water right from the deck!
