About Jacqueline Pizzey

I love the outdoors and enjoy finding new discoveries in and around Courtenay!

My favorite things to do would be cross country skiing on Mount Washington, hiking & walking the trails by Nymph Falls!

Jacqueline Pizzey purchased this house in 2011

Why Jacqueline Pizzey chose Comox Valley

This river-front property is a rare find. It was constructed in 1936, renovated and expanded in 1992. Then we again renovated and decorated in 2011/12. The cottage's quaint charm is refreshing in its idyllic location. You can feel something peaceful about the cottage as you relax and enjoy the river-view through its large windows.

From past guests' comments and reviews, this cottage seems to be exactly the type of stay everyone is looking for!

What makes this house unique

It's wonderful. You can swim, fish, hike, bike, walk, ski or relax with a book or a movie. It has something.. for anyone!

Come enjoy yourself. We know you will want to come back!

Amazing location to chill out on hot summer days

  • 5 of 5

The cottage has all you need and is very comfortable. We enjoyed picking some wonderful peaches and eating our meals on the back porch deck - overseeing the river. This is a great central location, less then 15 min from Vineyards, beaches, trails and at walking distance from downtown shops. The weather was in the 30 deg C for most of the week we spent here, so tubing on the river was fabulous. We fell in love with the area and plan on returning soon. Thank you Jacqueline for allowing us to relax and enjoy.

Beautiful property in a stunning setting

  • 5 of 5

Spent a wonderful week in this beautiful property, the house was even nicer in reality than in the pictures. It is very well looked after and immaculately clean. We loved all the extra touches like the soaps and shower gels in the bathrooms. Our son loved the heated toilet seat. There is so much room and extra storage space down stairs. The gardens are beautifully kept and were full of raspberries and ripe peaches while we were there.

One of the highlights of our week was spending our evenings sitting on the front deck watching the sun go down and the seals playing in the river. Our two children loved swimming and snorkelling in the river each day and using the kayaks. They did find it a little hard work on the rubber rings, they needed an adult with them for safety even though they are teenagers and good swimmers. My son and I also took a lovely ride along the cycle track into the countryside. We would recommend the very short walk across the bridge to the other side of the river to swim from the bigger beach rather than the small one outside the garden gate as it is less muddy and shallower.

The house is in easy walking distance of the lovely town of Courtney, with lots of nice restaurants, cafes and gift shops. I would also recommend a look around the town museum, which although it is small is very informative and interesting, a must for anyone with children who love dinosaurs! We also enjoyed a long wander around the huge Walmart store on the outskirts of town.

We were lucky enough to see lots of wildlife from seals to otters, we loved the binoculars and bird book left out to help you identify species. The highlight of the whole trip for my daughter was have to stop the car on the highway to let a black bear cross in front of us!

Thank you for the fantastic week in your lovely home.

The Courtenay river cottage is a fantastic vacation rental. My wife and I have stayed here 3 times, we plan to return next year. It is a very relaxing place to stay and explore the comic valley.

Yet another return visit with the family

  • 5 of 5

In mid-June, I brought my young family, my mother, and my sister-in-law with me back to this cottage, which we've visited once or twice a year for, well...since it became available! My mother-in-law lives very close-by and it really does seem to be the best lodging option in Courtenay. We've come in the winter, but the summer just rocks. The river is awesome, for us and the kids, and there's a water park within walking distance for the kids. (Along with a truly--and surprisingly-- outstanding Indian restaurant, also within walking distance...if you aren't a walking wimp http://manvirrosindiangrill.com/). The cottage is well enough organized and structured that we fit all 6 of us in there quite nicely, and we cooked meals almost every night.

A hidden treasure oasis in Courtenay, British Columbia

  • 5 of 5

My family were in Courtenay to attend my niece's wedding in the nearby town of Comox. This " Courtenay River Cottage" was recommended by my sister who lives in town, as she had a houseful and couldn't accommodate all of us of course. We had beautiful weather and we really enjoyed sitting on the big deck overlooking the river, having coffee in the morning and relaxing with cocktails at night. It was peaceful and very picturesque. The house comfortably slept 6 of us and we enjoyed the conveniences of laundry and a great kitchen. It did take us awhile to figure out the coffee maker then finally found the instruction pamphlet. It is about 2 blocks from the main street in Courtenay and 2 festivals were on in town the week we were there June 1, 2016. We really liked that there were different areas around the house outside to sit as well, in the front with the flowers and morning sunshine. We highly recommend this very large and beautiful Courtenay Cottage.

Great for shopping, eating and skiing!

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at this property during a February long weekend to accommodate all our family. We were 2 adults, 2 kids and 2 small dogs. The location allowed the boys in the family to easily go skiing each day, whilst the close location to the town offered easy walking to visit shops/cafes and restaurants (great if you don;t have a car). There are walking trails nearby, so perfect for non skiers and dogs! The property is excellent - well equipped and comfortable. The owners have thought of everything and you'll not want for anything. The view of the river is very relaxing and it was great to watch the wildlife/birds arriving to feed each day. The heated/light toilet seat was a hit with the kids as was the availability of kayaks. The current was rather strong and so not really recommended for kids to paddle but my husband coped ok. Plenty of funky restaurants nearby, so if you don't want to cook you'll have a good selection. Most shops are owner owned, so plenty of interesting finds for those that love to shop. Highly recommend this property and we certainly hope to return in the future.
