About Phil Wood

We are both originally from the UK, no kids but we have 2 doggies, which explains why the garden is dog safe and we welcome doggies as guests at no extra cost.

Phil Wood purchased this house in 2007

Why Phil Wood chose Castleton

We love this area of Vermont, it combines being not too far from Stamford where we live, its near(ish) for skiing, has a local airport (I fly) and there is the largest lake in Vermont (fully enclosed) .. the lake is frozen in winter, there's a beach which is great for kids in summer.

What makes this house unique

This house is our home and its your home while you are here. We make sure its well stocked with usual household staples, paper goods for bathroom and kitchen, washer dryer supplies, bedding in all combinations, lots of towels and a fully stocked kitchen that makes cooking in easy. We make sure that the staples such as condiments, butter, oil etc are always here so you don't need to bring those.

We love doggies, the garden is dog safe so this is a vacation for ALL the members of your family.

Wonderful week in a nice house in foliage season.

Immaculately clean! Comfortable beds and bedding. Every house says they have a fully stocked kitchen but this really is. (bring a sharp utility knife). Owner is very pleasant and accommodating.

Wonderful stay in Castleton

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed this comfortable, private home on our recent visit to Vermont. The kitchen was well stocked and the beds were comfortable. The location was close to some great food options such as the Birdseye Diner and the Village market just a few minutes drive away. The house had all the amenities, washer, dryer, dishwasher, large tv and easy to use Roku. Thanks for an enjoyable and relaxing stay.

This is a clean cozy home. We had six people staying but it did not seem crowded. Very dog friendly too! We may have to just rent it again!

We really loved our stay at Phil and Jayne's home.

  • 5 of 5

The house is spacious and equipped with everything you can think of. It is very close to Crystal Beach on Lake Bomoseen. This was a great place to take our two year old grandson. There are some great places to eat on the water as well as a pizza place. It is not far from Rutland and we got our groceries in Fair Haven. We had a wonderful fun-filled week and we would definitely stay at Phil's home again. It was a great Vermont vacation.

Perfect for our needs

  • 5 of 5

The house is in a lovely quiet neighborhood near Lake Bomoseen. I rented it with three friends because we were attending a week's conference at Castleton University and wanted to stay off-campus and prepare our own food. The beds were VERY comfortable which was a delight. Phil was very responsive to the couple of questions we had once we were there, speedily got the hot water fixed when we had a problem with it, and was generally very helpful. The house was very well-supplied with linens and pantry items, and was very clean.
