About Phil Wood

We are both originally from the UK, no kids but we have 2 doggies, which explains why the garden is dog safe and we welcome doggies as guests at no extra cost.

Phil Wood purchased this house in 2007

Why Phil Wood chose Castleton

We love this area of Vermont, it combines being not too far from Stamford where we live, its near(ish) for skiing, has a local airport (I fly) and there is the largest lake in Vermont (fully enclosed) .. the lake is frozen in winter, there's a beach which is great for kids in summer.

What makes this house unique

This house is our home and its your home while you are here. We make sure its well stocked with usual household staples, paper goods for bathroom and kitchen, washer dryer supplies, bedding in all combinations, lots of towels and a fully stocked kitchen that makes cooking in easy. We make sure that the staples such as condiments, butter, oil etc are always here so you don't need to bring those.

We love doggies, the garden is dog safe so this is a vacation for ALL the members of your family.

Perfect for our needs

  • 5 of 5

The house is in a lovely quiet neighborhood near Lake Bomoseen. I rented it with three friends because we were attending a week's conference at Castleton University and wanted to stay off-campus and prepare our own food. The beds were VERY comfortable which was a delight. Phil was very responsive to the couple of questions we had once we were there, speedily got the hot water fixed when we had a problem with it, and was generally very helpful. The house was very well-supplied with linens and pantry items, and was very clean.

Everything included

  • 5 of 5

Although not on the water we still loved this charming cottage. Well stocked with everything you could think of and fenced in yard was prefect for our dog. Phil checked in by text and phone to make sure we were happy with everything. Would rent from him again in the future.

Great stay and convenient location! Will be back!

  • 4 of 5

I very much enjoyed my stay at this house. The backyard was great for my 5 yr old son to play in, and the house had everything I needed to just unwind and relax. The house is well stocked with towels and any supplies you might need. The owner was very nice and responded quickly to questions I had. The location is very quiet and peaceful, and I really enjoyed the new firepit that was just installed! The only reason I didn't give this rental 5 stars was because it wasn't quite ready at the 4pm check in time. All in all, it was a great stay and I will likely rent this home again. :)

Owner's Response: Hi Tricia, thank you for the lovely review and for staying with us. I am sorry about the late readiness, on the plus side I did get the fire pit assembled and up and running for your arrival .. hope to see you again .. P

Total Relaxation

  • 5 of 5

My Husband and I arrived after a 13 hour drive to find a warm cozy house. Phil had been by and started a fire for us, how fabulous is that!! The house was clean and had all we needed to make the stay go smoothly. Phil made sure we knew he was available to answer any questions and responded quickly when we did. The Lake is a short walk from the house and we enjoyed walking daily while we were there. We ate at several of the places Phil recommended and we enjoyed each one. The surrounding area is beautiful no matter which direction you head. If my husband and I make it back to that area of Vt we would absolutely stay there again. It was a perfect get away experience. Thanks for sharing Phil!!
