About Phil Wood

We are both originally from the UK, no kids but we have 2 doggies, which explains why the garden is dog safe and we welcome doggies as guests at no extra cost.

Phil Wood purchased this house in 2007

Why Phil Wood chose Castleton

We love this area of Vermont, it combines being not too far from Stamford where we live, its near(ish) for skiing, has a local airport (I fly) and there is the largest lake in Vermont (fully enclosed) .. the lake is frozen in winter, there's a beach which is great for kids in summer.

What makes this house unique

This house is our home and its your home while you are here. We make sure its well stocked with usual household staples, paper goods for bathroom and kitchen, washer dryer supplies, bedding in all combinations, lots of towels and a fully stocked kitchen that makes cooking in easy. We make sure that the staples such as condiments, butter, oil etc are always here so you don't need to bring those.

We love doggies, the garden is dog safe so this is a vacation for ALL the members of your family.

Great Place for Family Holiday

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here with my mom, husband and our 4 month old son over Christmas holiday. I was nervous about finding a place that allowed us to put our baby to sleep at an early time while everyone else hung out. But, it was the perfect set up with enough rooms and space for us to stretch out. we even brought our two dogs who enjoyed playing in the snow yard!

Phil was a wonderful host and offered great directions and information about the home. Everything was easy to find and use, and the house was stocked with everything you might need to cook or bake! It really felt like "home" for the few days we were there.

A bonus was the cozy beds...they were probably the most comfortable beds I've slept in! We hope to stay again in the summer to check out great lake activities.

Really cute cabin close to the lake

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is the perfect size! The owners have thought of everything. Phil made sure to leave in depth instructions in case we had questions as well. It's a 5 minite walk to the lake and a gorgeous area for walking around and exploring. The bedrooms were a great size and beds super comfy. We would stay there again in a heart beat and recommend to anyone that needs a place!

Great place

  • 4 of 5

Our family has enjoyed many vacations to Vermont over the past 15+ years. This was the first time we stayed at this house... Phil was very helpful & attentive. House was as described and close to great restaurants & beautiful foliage & lake scenery. It was very nice having a place to make breakfast before starting our days. We would definitely stay again!

Fabulous location

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful summer stay at Phil’s place near Lake Bomoseen in Castleton. The house was very clean and comfortable. It has a quiet, shady front yard/garden for enjoying the outdoors during the afternoon. The back patio, complete with tiki torches and grill, make for a great evening spot for cocktails and outdoor dinners.

The location was perfect. We could walk to Crystal Beach for a swim or to the Lakehouse Restaurant for the Wednesday night fresh lobster special. It was quick drive to Half Moon Pond State Park or Lake Bomoseen State Park for great hiking trails, or to the D&H rail trail for an incredible bike ride. Summer free concerts at Castleton University were also a treat. We were within a 30 minute drive of Middlebury, Rutland, and Pittsford. We loved our stay in Castleton!
