This comfortable, cozy cabin is conveniently located off Hwy 267, in the lovely Kingswood Estates neighborhood. The stone fireplace is outfitted with a gas insert, for quick warmth and ambiance at the touch of a button. The upgraded kitchen is fully equipped with a restored, 1946 O'Keefe & Merritt range, Sub-Zero refrigerator, KitchenAid dishwasher, stainless GE wall oven/microwave, and countertops of Granite & Caesarstone with a tumbled marble backsplash. The bathrooms are all upgraded and improved, with granite tops, slate tile flooring and rustic tile showers. No room has gone untouched!

The property backs up to the national forest for a peaceful and relaxing setting. Cross country ski, or snowshoe, out the back door in winter, and hike, bike or jog through North Tahoe Regional Park in the summer. The bike/ski trail is accessed via a pathway through the forest behind the home. The 400-square foot deck boasts a stainless steel gas grill and a cable railing for unobstructed views of the tranquil forest.

Brockway Golf Course, Lake Front Beaches, Northstar Resort, and the North Shore Casinos are all just minutes away. For additional shopping and fine dining, the charming town of Truckee is a 15 minute drive, Tahoe City a 20 minute drive, or Incline Village a 10 minute drive.

The one and a half story home will sleep eight comfortably (maximum 8 guests total allowed). There are two queen bedrooms on the ground floor, including a new master suite, with private bath. The second queen room has a cozy feel, with a four-poster pine & iron bed and beamed ceiling. Across the hall is a fully renovated bath with a large glassed in shower. There are two bedrooms upstairs; one with a Lodgepole Pine queen bed and the second with 3 twin beds. An updated, shared tub/shower bathroom is between.

About Stacy

As native Californians, we have been coming up to the Tahoe area for many years. We love the smell of the mountain air, and the natural beauty of the lake and forest. We decided it was time to upgrade from years of one day ski trips and summer camping at the State Parks, to comfortable beds and indoor plumbing!

Stacy purchased this house in 2005

Why Stacy chose Lake Tahoe North Shore

We've been hiking, biking, and skiing the north shore for over 30 years, and just love the area. When we began our home search, we just happened upon the Kingswood Estates neighborhood, and found this little gem (diamond in the rough) waiting by the forest. It's a quiet, quality neighborhood within a short drive to Truckee, Tahoe City, or Incline Village.

What makes this house unique

The National Forest view from the large back deck is one of the best features of our mountain get away. It's quiet and relaxing, and a great place to read a book, enjoy happy hour, or BBQ and dine outside with friends. You can also hike, bike or cross country ski right out the back door. Several ski areas, restaurants, and casinos are all within a 5-15 minute drive from the property.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This is a wonderful and cozy cabin! We had a terrific time playing games, enjoying the fire, and skiing. Hopefully we will get the chance to return next year. Thanks Again!

Excellent home for Thanksgiving getaway!

  • 5 of 5

The Forest Retreat exceeded our expectations all around! The house was perfect for our two families celebrating Thanksgiving. Having two separate bedroom spaces was a wonderful split for two families, one stayed on the second floor, the other on the first floor. The common areas were large and open allowing us to hang out and relax. We enjoyed watching movies on Netflix, playing with the provided board games and cooking and baking. The ping pong table in the garage and hot tub on the back deck were enjoyable as well. While it felt like a true getaway, conveniences were close - the Safeway and restaurants were a few miles down the road. We had six children with us and they couldn't get enough of the backyard! They spent hours outside playing in the wooded space building forts, collecting pinecones and just being kids! All around, it was an amazing escape from our hectic lives in Silicon Valley.

Great House, Great Location

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect for our group. I particularly enjoyed the open layout on the main level. It made entertaining and hanging out very easy as a group. The house was extremely clean and tidy when we arrived. The only thing I wish was that the air conditioning worked better. The house was very warm during the days. But overall, a great experience. Highly recommend!!

Owner's Response: So glad to hear that you enjoyed your time at Forest Retreat! It is a wonderful house and in a beautiful location. I just wanted to clarify that none of the homes in the Tahoe area have air conditioning (only furnaces), as we have very few days when air conditioning is needed. Instead, we say that our "air conditioning" comes on around 10pm and goes off about 8am on those days! I hope you found the fans that were provided in the house to help circulate air and draw in cooler air at night? We do look forward to having you back!

Lovely home, very clean and the pictures of the home are exactly as the home looks. The living room has a blueray player which was great for watching movies as well as streaming Netflix. The home was very comfortable and cozy for us and our 2 year old. The deck out back was wonderful as well as the short walking trails right out back. All of the amenities were very nice and the home is within a mile of Safeway which was really nice. The pots and pans could use an upgrade. The neighborhood is very quite and the home is about 10 min drive to Tahoe city. Stacy was great to work with and the booking of the home was effortless. Loved it we will return!

A home away from home.

  • 5 of 5

I've had the opportunity to stay in this beautiful home before and after the complete renovation.

It was very inviting each time. I would highly recommend it to anyone. It is very clean, warm, cozy

and relaxing. It's close to several ski areas, hiking, biking and the lake. With the 3 bathrooms and 4 bedrooms, it accommodates a family group comfortably. It backs up to the forest. With no homes built behindit, the deck affords privacy. In the warmer weather the deck is the perfect place for reading, escaping, breakfast, lunch, dinner or cocktails (or all of the mentioned). You have to experience this home for yourself. The pictures do not do it justice.

February 28,2010We have been spending Ski Week in Lake Tahoe for more than ten years and have rented various homes during this time. This beautiful home in Kingswood Estates is the ultimate mountain getaway; it surpasses in quality and comfort any other vacation home we have rented. The owners have updated this home and no detail has been overlooked. There is a generous, yet cozy great room on the lower level with ample dining space and a well-stocked, gourmet kitchen. The two lower level bedrooms, including the master suite exude luxury and the bathrooms are of spa quality. The upper level has two “bunk rooms,” that afford abundant space; each of these rooms is uniquely decorated. The interior design and attention to detail in the layout of the home and each of its rooms is superb. The quality of the furnishings, linens, etc. is superior and lends to the feeling of being pampered. There is expansive decking on the back of the home that overlooks a beautiful open space in this tranquil neighborhood. We really appreciated the flat driveway and the spacious two car garage. We can’t thank you enough for the wonderful stay. If you are looking for a top-notch vacation rental, then look no further. We hope to visit again soon!Eric & NancySacramento, CA
