Your host, Ron, has decades of experience in hospitality, as the owner of one of Seattle's most beloved restaurants. I expanded into home renovation during 2010 as general contractor as my wife and I brought our 1967 home into the 21st century. We updated every inch of the home and are comfortable on the first and second floors of this three story home. We especially love the location, the feeling of being in the forest as we gaze out on the wooded garden and watch the birds.
Ron purchased this apartment in 2010
We have lived in Northeast Seattle for years, but especially enjoy this home for its tranquil setting combined with easy access to everything we love. We can be in the Cascade or Olympic Mountains, on Puget Sound, or the San Juan Islands in no time. Our community is diverse, urban, literate and comfortable.
We adopted the Pacific Northwest as our home many years ago, have raised our children here, and are now ready to share our community with visitors. We trust you will leave Seattle as smitten as we are!
This was our second time staying here and it was just as great as the first. The owner is very accommodating and helpful. The unit is well kept and nicely appointed. The backyard is beautiful and the Burke-Gilman trail is right behind the unit and easy to access from down the street.
It's location is close to the University of Washington which fit our needs perfectly. It is also not difficult to get downtown on the light link rail (there is a new station next to Husky Stadium).
We'll definitely stay here again and recommend it to all our friends.
We wholeheartedly agree with the reviews we had read before booking this rental in that it was even better than what we thought it would be. Ron was extremely hospitable and showed us around the place which was extremely clean, comfortable, well-supplied, and very nice. The kids loved the fire pit and making smores in the backyard. They seemed to think of everything here and supplied so many little extras from laundry detergent to a few Seattle chocolates to enjoy. We very much enjoyed our first visit to Seattle and would enthusiastically recommend this rental.
Ron's place is beautiful. The gardens are stunning. The apartment is modern, clean and comfortable. Ron is a wonderful host. I would highly recommend this VRBO location.
We had high expectations for this property based on all the reviews, and everything was even better than expected! Ron was a great host and was very informative and helpful. The property itself is very clean and well maintained, both inside and outside. The beds were very comfortable and it was very quiet at night. Our kids loved the outdoor fire pit and making s'mores every night after our trips out to see the sights. We highly recommend Ron and his home if you're planning a visit to Seattle. We are already planning our next trip back and will definitely stay here again!
We stayed at Ron's property over Memorial Day Weekend 2016 while we were in town for a volleyball tournament. We have stayed in many rentals from VRBO over the past 10 years and I have to say this one ranks right at the top. The location to the University was perfect, there was covered parking so we didn't have to park on the street, the accommodations were comfortable and the apartment was furnished beautifully. The back yard is to die for and we thoroughly enjoyed the fire pit! But the very best thing is the attention to detail. I always lug all the little supplies with me since they aren't normally provided, but Ron provided it all!! From Keurig cups to face wipes, Ron didn't miss a detail! Those little things really make a guest feel welcome and at home. The kitchen is stocked so don't bring a thing! Need a crockpot? Check. Pie plate? Check. Every utensil you could possibly need- yep, it's there. We loved it and we will definitely be back. Thank you Ron for being such a great host! And thank you for leaving my daughter's pillow out for us. You can imagine her panic at 5pm as we started to head out of Seattle! And by the way... we won the tournament!! See you next year!
The name "Urban Woodland Retreat" is a perfect description. This home has everything one needs and wants. It is extraordinarily clean. Ron is a gracious host. We were close to the UW campus, University Village, and an easy train ride into the city. It is lovely having the Burke Gilman trail right there for long walks and bike rides. Then coming home and sitting by the gas fire in the beautiful garden watching a variety of birds is relaxing. I would certainly recommend this retreat and we will definitely stay there again!
Burke-Gilman trail is only steps away, providing easy access for walkers, runners and bicyclists to nearby Seattle Children's Medical Center, University Village, University of Washington, Ballard and Kenmore, all while enjoying views of Lake Washington , Lake Union, and Puget Sound.
Within a half mile are shopping, restaurants, spas, a gourmet supermarket and natural food store. Within a mile is Magnuson Park, on Lake Washington, which boasts a beach, picnic areas, playfields, restored wetlands, a kite hill, a boat ramp and miles of walking trails.
Northeast Seattle provides community centers, public libraries, schools and churches, all located in a convenient, safe family neighborhood. The University District has a vibrant year-round farmer's market, museums, movie theatres and clubs.
