We LOVE the quiet natural beauty of this area and we find it a very restful get away from our hectic chaotic lifestyle plus we enjoy the modern & comfortable lodge-like feeling of this home. When we are here we go 'off schedule', reading, napping & watching the 'river parade' and doing whatever suits us whenever we feel like it.
Donna purchased this house in 1995
So many of the homes along the river are jammed together but this great place sits on over 4 acres, is nestled in the trees and feels secluded and private.
Thank you so much for letting my family and I stay in this wonderful home! I would love to live in this house. The scenery is breathtaking. One of my favorite things about this house is how much space there is! I would definitely recomment this for a vacation get away.
What a great place to stay. We found nothing lacking in making our stay enjoyable. Excellent views, clean, well maintained. Instructions for all activities well documented. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone. Donna kept in touch with us to insure we were settled and had plenty of suggestions for activities. Longview and Kelso had very good restaurants and shopping.
My second year in a row returning to "Peace of the River" did not disappoint me. A first class two story home located in a prime location on the bank of the beautiful Kalama River. All the creature comforts are there for rest and relaxation between steelhead and salmon sorties. Every bedroom and living area is spotless. I became addicted to fly fishing the Kalama back in 1978. Found this location to be perfect now that I am doing Pacific NorthWest pilgrimages again. My second year in a row here. God willing, next year will see me again at this cabin and chatting with my friends on the river.

Our family stayed here at this beautiful home on the river, we enjoyed every minute. The home was perfect for our visit with our son and his family. The home was well equipped with everything you could possibly need in the kitchen. The views from the deck and even the lower level were just beautiful, and the sound of the river was so relaxing. When we hiked down to the river, we were able to see some salmon. My husband and son enjoyed doing a little fishing, although they were unable bring home their catch, as the fish were not biting. We highly recommend a stay here, as it is a very peaceful spot for a nice vacation. Working with the homeowner was wonderful, Donna goes above and beyond, and made our vacation a breeze to arrange. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us! We hope to visit again some day.
We had an awesome extended weekend staying in this home. It was stocked with everything we needed...plenty of towels and blankets and a completely stocked kitchen! There was plenty of room for our group of 5, especially the 3 bathrooms! The view from the deck of the river is awesome! We visited nearby Ape Caves and Tree House Island ziplining adventures.
This is a lovely, large 2 storey, home in the forest overlooking the river. The house is very well equipped with everything you could want with amazing views of the Pacific Northwest forest right outside. Great location for tubing down the river as well as a (pre-booked) visit to the sloth sanctuary in nearby Rainier. Very cool.
We had an awesome family vacation staying in this home. It was stocked with everything we needed...plenty of towels and blankets and a completely stocked kitchen! There was plenty of room for our family of 4 and the views from the deck are awesome! We spent some time floating down the river, we had a deer with her baby's come and eat berries off the bushes in the yard every evening! There are some fun things to do within 1 hour drive time. We went to Astoria, the Ape caves, we hiked the falls on the Columbia river, and hiked Beacon Rock. This house was cleaned and maintained. Donna was quick to respond to messages and I would recommend this rental to friends and family. Thanks so much!!
We often see herons fishing the shoals below, eagles flying overhead and once we saw an elk herd on the ridge across the river! And as noted by VRBO...Relax and Unwind in Southwest Washington. The scenic area of southwest Washington offers breathtaking scenery, sandy beaches, small port towns and all the activities of the Northern Cascade Mountains close by. The area is known for its fertile estuaries and centuries-old landmarks. Charted by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark in 1805, southwest Washington was considered the most desirable area to settle west of the Rocky Mountains. It now offers a delightful escape from city life for vacationers looking to relax and enjoy the spectacular local scenery.
