Whether it’s you and your family, or you and your friends, we have a place that was designed for gatherings. Built in 2007, this craftsman bungalow has all the modern amenities, but with a homey nod to the past.
A long, winding driveway leads you through the woods to the house, which overlooks a pond for fishing, a grassy field for lawn games, and a fire pit for roasting marshmallows under the stars. Inside, an open floor plan lets you all be together while comfy bedrooms and an additional sitting room allow for downtime. In cooler months, hunker down by the wood-burning fireplace. Step outside to enjoy covered porches, a screened-in dining porch, grilling terrace, pergola, another fire pit, outdoor shower and walking trails.
Whether you bike, hike, swim, kayak, shop, antique, dine, gamble, golf, or just relax in the hammock, there’s always something to do. Like other guests who’ve found us, we’re sure you’ll want to return again and again.
The House: The main floor of the house is an open floor plan with the gourmet kitchen, dining room with large farmhouse table, and a living with a wood-burning fireplace. The kitchen has stainless steel appliances, granite and walnut countertops, large pantry, and a screened outdoor dining porch. Other outdoor porches have rockers, upholstered furniture, and ceiling fans. The main floor master suite includes a full bath with large shower, washer/dryer, queen size bed and french doors leading outside. The second floor has 2 bedrooms, one with a queen sized bed and the other with two twin beds. Also upstairs is a sitting room with a pull-out sofa and doors that lead out to a balcony. The second floor has a full bathroom with tub/shower.The house has all of the comforts of home, central air, wood burning fireplace, large-screen/satellite TV, Blu-ray player, DVD/CD player, and audio system with speakers throughout the inside and outside of the house. The house is secured with an alarm system.
The Land: This charming cottage, nestled in the woods of Michigan, is named for the various species of holly bushes grown on site. As you enter the private 20 acres, you are greeted by a park-like area, with flower beds and tree specimens. This area also features a fruit orchard, containing apples, peaches, and pears. The gravel driveway leads you through this open area into the woods, winding down a tree lined drive to the house, set back in the woods near the creek and stone's throw from the large pond. Walking trails radiate out from the house and circle the property. Tucked away in the woods is a third fire pit, which is in the center of an area of campsites carved from the woods.

James Hahn purchased this House in 2005
Why James Hahn chose South Haven Charter Township
James and Kyle decided to build their dream home after living on the land in a tent for the first summer. After climbing many trees on the property, they were able to survey the land and decide on the perfect location for the house and pond and they began build later that year. Doing most of the building themselves, this labor of love took them the better part of 4 years to complete, but the result is exactly what they wanted.
What makes this House unique
Why the HollyWoods? It is perfectly located for our guest to enjoy all the attractions that southwest Michigan has to offer, and yet still be far away from the crowds that take over the lovely beach community during the summer. You can enjoy the peace and quiet that 20 wooded acres gets you, the calming walks on the trails through the woods, fishing in the pond for bass and perch, and listening to the frogs, owls and crickets at night.

We stayed for the weekend in early March. Even in March before things have started to grow for spring, this property is just lovely. The home is furnished in great taste and was perfect for my wife and I and our 2 dogs. The grounds were great and provided plenty of exploration space to wander through the many trails with the dogs . We are very happy we found this gem.
It sounds like you enjoyed your stay just as much as we enjoyed having you as our guest. Thank you for your visit and look forward to seeing you again.
We absolutely loved our stay at The Hollywoods! The house was perfect and the property was amazing. Our son and dogs loved walking the trails even in the rain. The Owners were great at being in contact with us before, during and after the stay. This is the perfect quiet retreat!
The home is beautiful. The grounds are amazingly well kept and the home is great.
We had a fantastic weekend at the Hollywoods. The property is even better than the photographs. There is such attention to detail in every room of the home. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and provide a delight in every direction you look. The home is well stocked with every convenience and provided a perfect atmosphere for a relaxing weekend. Jim, the owner, made our booking process easy and he made himself available to answer every question. We truly enjoyed our time at the Hollywoods.
Beautiful home and property
Highly recommend staying here. The house and property are beautiful. Also a great location with a short drive to the beach and downtown South Haven. Great customer service from the owners.
Wonderful, relaxing family trip in an idyllic setting
We had three generations of our family and we all found things to do on the property. Fishing, walking the trails, roasting marshmallows, resting in the rocking chairs, playing games at the dining room table, enjoying the various outdoor spaces with a good book, croquet in the large field, capturing photos of the grounds; the list goes on. We also enjoyed blueberry festival and an outing picking peaches north of south haven.
We look forward to coming back!
Amazing Family Vacation!
What amazing memories we will take with us from our week at the HollyWoods! The attention to detail in the home and around the grounds is unparalleled. We love the porches, pond and fishing, trails, privacy, music and library of books. Most importantly, we leave refreshed, relaxed, and with renewed gratitude for our family. Our kids are already asking when we can return! The Greek Family -- Carmel Indiana
This house is located just outside of South Haven and is about 2 hours from Chicago and about 3 hours from Detroit. The town is known for it’s Lake Michigan beaches, it’s many festivals, farmer’s market and gracious hospitality. South Haven is halfway between the other harbor towns St. Joseph and Saugatuck/Douglas which both make for easy day-trips. The area is also known as 'Harvest Country' for it’s many u-pick fruit orchards and winery tours. Besides Lake Michigan, there are many inland lakes for fishing and rivers for canoeing and kayaking. The area has plenty of art galleries, museums and historic sites to keep the mind as well as the body occupied. Summer is abuzz with sun-soaked activities which stretch into the fall when rolling hills and woods become ablaze with color. Winter festivals, outdoor ice-skating, and snowmobiling keep folks busy in the snowy months.
