Mahaffey Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Bedroom 1, Bathroom 1, Sleeps 6

The cabin is nestled in a small peaceful community of vacation cabins located in a mature growth forest along the scenic West Branch of the Susquehanna river. You must cross a circa 1873 covered bridge to get to the cabin. The cabin is just 20-30 feet from the river which affords many recreational activities such as tubing, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, or just sitting in a folding chair in the river enjoying the babbling water. There is a screened in porch riverside with a covered deck porch cabin side. Gas grill, fire pit, picnic table, lawn chairs are all available for your use. The cabin inside includes four rooms (about 1000 sq ft), namely a fully equipped kitchen, full bathroom, large front room with satellite TV,DVD, WiFi, home phone (814-277-6149)and fireplace, and large bedroom which sleeps up to 6 comfortably. The cabin is accented with rustic barn wood, has hardwood floors, and has been modernized for your enjoyment. Although the cabin has a modern feel you will be away from the rat race as cell phone coverage is limited.

Loved it. We are in the shade and the river outside. Love that we can get to our church camp in a few minutes. This was our 3 year there.

Great cabin for a family getaway

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at this cabin for a week and we enjoyed it very much. The cabin was very clean and it was just feet away from the river where we went fishing and swimming. We would definitely recommend this place to other people and would stay here again.

Perfect Quiet Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved the cabin! We went for our honeymoon and had a wonderful time. It was quiet, peaceful, and even better than we'd hoped it would be! If you want a relaxing get away, this is it! We talk often of our stay there and how great the cabin was!

Property was clean and well kept. All the amenities worked well. The screened in porch was a great place to sit and listen to the river. The outdoor grill and fire ring were nice for cooking and relaxing outside Can't wait to come back!

Stunning, tranquil beauty!!!

  • 5 of 5

After a very rough year and a half of dealing with tough medical problems now solved, I needed to get away to somewhere really nice. Though I live in and grew up in Baltimore City, every summer of my childhood years we would go to Pennsylvania where both of my parents were from Lewisburg. I fell in love with the state and go back every year.

To make a long story shorter, this cabin was the antidote for peace and quite for the time I was there. I would go back every year, except that it is on the market, but however slim the chance is that the new owners might rent it out, I'd count on next year.

Should I not be able to make a cabin purchase in Punxsutawney work, I'd shoot for their fabulous mountain top cabin next year with a passion.

Great property owners, fantastic scenery and friendly people that I met make it worth more than money could ever buy!!

Thank you!

Private Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We rented this cute cabin as a place to stay for my aunt and uncles 50th wedding anniversary. The cabin was very private, quaint and cozy. We spent most of our time outside cooking on the grill and sitting by the river. We visited the covered bridge which was just a short walk and took a ton of pictures. On the way back from the anniversary party we stopped in to a little tavern around the corner that had karaoke. The cabin was fully stocked with everything you would need. It would be a beautiful place to spend Thanksgiving or a winter weekend get away. We loved the checkerboard table topper and played several times even though my fiance cheated! Since I have family in Cherry Tree and in Punsutawney, this was a great alternative to the boring hotel / motel stays. The river was low but the water was rushing in certain areas. We did see a few kayaks come through though. I would absolutely recommend the cabin and would plan to stay again.
