We can't begin to thank you enough for this perfect getaway. You have an amazing home, thank you for sharing that with us. this is the ideal get away I needed to take a step back from my daily life on the ground in Afghanistan. Also if you haven't taken the opportunity to go explore Pennscave, I highly reccommend it. We will definitely be reccommending your cottage to our friends. May God bless you and your family.

P.S. Please keep me in your prayers as I travel back over seas.

Beautiful Location and View of Lake

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our weekend. The cottage is beautifully decorated and was very comfortable for the two of us. I believe the arrangement of the furniture in the living room has changed slightly since the pictures were taken, but I think it's an improvement. We enjoyed eating at the small table in front of the window, but most of our time was spent outdoors enjoying the beautiful views of the lake. The owners were home, and although their house is close to the cottage, it felt quite private. We enjoyed the beautiful, quiet surroundings. Our weekend was hot but the air conditioning worked great, and the outdoor breezes kept us comfortable. We hope to return again!

Wonderful cottage

  • 4 of 5

We greatly enjoyed our stay here. The view is incredible and we enjoyed staring out at it from the porch and hot tub. The house is very close but caused no problem. Our big surprise was the kitchen- there are no pictures so we did not realize how small it was- it is basically the same size as the bathroom. There is virtually no counter space to work on (it is a galley kitchen with stove, dish drain, wide sink, then small square of counter that has coffee maker on it) so do not plan to actually make a meal here. Originally we thought there was no place to eat inside but realized later that there is a small table with 2 stools under it in the living room. This did not cause us a problem as the weather was good and they have a covered outside eating area. The loft bedroom is low- I am 5 foot and hit my head several times- (my husband decided to sleep downstairs). If you are taller than 5 foot you can enter the bedroom ducking slightly and walk straight to the bed but cannot walk around the bed. (it is A frame upstairs so the ceiling slants down on both sides. The air conditioner is in the wall but we had no trouble keeping the place cool. Bathroom is spacious and beautiful. It is well supplied with what you need. They do need to update their instructions for the fire pit but they have already replied to our note on this so are obviously very responsive.

Owner's Response: We have not responded to any guest's review for quite some time. We considered not responding to this review as it is in the minority of opinions expressed by over 90 % of the other reviews. I would like to point out however that there are (2) photos of the kitchen in the cottage portfolio of pics, not quite sure how you missed them. To my knowledge we have never had anyone decide not to sleep in the loft because of the reduced head room. I might suggest that this is not a spacious townhouse rental but rather a cottage rental which is priced accordingly. Fortunately for us most guests that have stayed in the cottage have not focused on things that you deem problems, but rather have focused on the positives.

Beautiful view and so relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I visited for our mini-honeymoon and loved the place. It was cozy inside and beautiful outside. We enjoyed sitting on the back porch listening to the rain (not even rain could ruin our time spent there!), enjoying breakfast in the nook and the beautiful views from the hot tub and fire pit.

Cozy ,Country, Radness w/ Botanical Beauty!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is beautuful inside and out. My wife and I drew so much inspiration from the decor and layout. You should find it very cozy and well equipped. We enjoyed the outside seating overlooking the lake . For those who enjoy gardening, taking a stroll around the property should give you plenty of eye candy.

Highly Recommend! Great view of the lake. Peaceful and quiet. Accommodations were perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a peaceful, quiet weekend get away...and the cottage location and amenities were perfect. Though we stayed just two short nights, we'd recommend it for any length of stay. The view of the lake was incredible, both from the front porch as well as the hot tub/outside dining area. Both the inside and outside was nicely decorated, fitting with the cottage theme. We also found the accommodations, inside and out, to be be extremely clean and well kept. As others have posted, the cottage is adjacent to the owners primary home, but we did not find this detractive to the overall environment. The cottage has its own parking area and entrance. Though aware of the home next door, we felt we had complete privacy. We did not encounter the owners the entire time we were there. There is one window that overlooks the hot tub area, but the shade was always down and lights off. Perhaps the owners might consider a removable fence panel or small tree to aid in privacy if it is a common concern. But was not an issue for us at all.

Though it rained most of the weekend we were there, we enjoyed the quite time in the hot tub and simply sitting on the porch with coffee or wine enjoying the view. The fire pit area also afforded a great view, but the rain did not make it possible for us. We also found ample things to do in town and the surrounding area. Starr Hill Vineyard and Winery was great for wine tasting. We also hiked a little at Bilger's Rocks, and found a few antique locations in town as well and a large co-op in Clearfield called Historica Plus. It is in the Clearfield business district, offering three floors of antiques showcased in a historic, former department store.

For food and groceries, we found the South Side Subs and Deli store in town to be a great local resource. We stopped in the Friday we arrived to get subs and to get and a few necessities for breakfast the next day. There is also a small grocery store in town and a few places to eat, though we found ourselves elsewhere during dinner time. We had dinner one evening at Billy's Burgerland in Clearfield. Nothing fancy, but the food was great and we enjoy seeking out places of local flavor. Highly recommend it. Clearfield seemed to have decent business district...just noting it for more rainy day options.

Jim and Karen were wonderful hosts! It was exactly the getaway we were in need of from our busy family of seven. Highly recommend the cottage!
