As hardcore NYC foodies they know the importance of an amazing meal and have provided every necessary item to allow you to cook healthy and naturally with grown on-site herbs and vegetables.
Setara was literally born into the hospitality industry residing first in her families hotel in Cornwall St Ives and later in their two hotels in central London. She is formally trained as a fine artist and is an avid practitioner and certified instructor of yoga.
Michael grew up on Long Island in a historic house from the 1800's that was part of the Burr family estate. His hands-on experience coupled with his appreciation for character and detail led him to develop into a real estate renaissance man.
Together Setara and Michael are committed to make your stay a truly unique and rewarding experience,

We just had a 10 person family reunion & this was a nice house with a lot of property. The ceiling fans were nice because it was hot/humid. After we moved our luggage from the cars, we noticed a few things that became really inconvenient for us. The 1st was when we opened the windows and noticed some didn't have screens to keep out the millions of mosquitos & some windows/patio doors had large rips/holes in the screens. We ended up hunting down the mosquitos in the house all week because they kept biting us day & night. The 2nd was the blinds were missing in the bedroom. Even though there was nothing but forest in our back yard, it still felt a little weird when you slept & it got really bright so the kids couldn't sleep past 7am. The 3rd was an open loft directly above the kitchen area, but there were no railings surrounding it & was easily accessible from the stairs & the hallway/bathroom. The owners did email me the night before we checked in with a little warning about this loft area. Since we had 5 little kids with us on this trip, it became a task for us to prevent them from going there & falling off. The last thing that I didn't enjoy was the shower especially the 1st night. There was good water pressure & it was hot but we were shocked when the hot water ran out in the middle of our showers (imagine like little kids screaming when it turned ice cold). It’s understandable that the hot water can run out especially if we were using it but we didn't think it would take over 3 hrs to get the water to stay warm for another shower. At 11pm, we couldn't wait any longer and boiled a couple of pots of water on the stove and poured it in the tub so we could bathe the kids. The rest of us took icy cold showers that night (it was also the fastest showers that we had ever taken). For the rest of the week, we came up with this strategy. The 1st was that we had to lather up with soap/shampoo while the water is off and only turn it on to rinse. The 2nd was that the kids took showers first. The 3rd was that we don’t use the hot water for anything like washing dishes/hands. Our strategy seemed to work but was definitely inconvenient. There were some other minor things like the patio doors not locking (we are from NYC and we lock everything) and the dryer taking 75 mins to dry our summer clothes (without towels). The good news is that these problems can be easily fixed & that the Catskills/Hudson Valley is a really nice place for a getaway.
The house was pretty, but in need of preparation for guests. The landscape was overgrown, front door not closing properly, bugs in the house, downstairs shower not working properly, upstairs shower backed up, not sufficient glassware or dishes & we had a breaker tripped during out stay. The barn was locked & had broken glass on the ground & a lot of trash that was left out from a previos guest that was ripped open. The house has good bones, but needs some updates to accommodate guests.
We had 8 adults / 3 children for 6 nights at Christmas. The overall impression was that the owners don't have much connection with the house. There are amenities in the description that simply do not exist, specifically the exercise barn, beds for 14, and a "fully equipped" kitchen. I'm surprised they felt comfortable advertising an exercise barn when it is nothing like that at all. It's just a big locked barn. Unfortunately it was that feature that swayed us to choose this property over others.
Very nicely renovated.
Amazing woods to walk in.
Spacious great room.
Nice wood stoves (bring your own wood, kindling, matches).
Each bedroom has its own heat control (except one which was broken).
Lots of wine glasses.
No written instructions for arrival / departure procedures. (A pro if you don't like to be hemmed in by rules, and don't mind figuring things out as you go (like how to use a wood stove, how to get the french doors to close properly, etc.)
At least 5 large bags of trash sitting out on the property.
Only 8 bath towels (most of which were wet in the dryer when we arrived).
No bath mats, hand towels, or small cloths.
No serving dishes in kitchen.
Not enough glassware if all 11 guests wanted a non-alcoholic drink at once.
Kitchen only had basics. Not what you need to cook for a large group.
No heat in one bedroom.
A lot of trash on the property (presumably from previous renters).
Some signs of vandalism to the barn.
No functioning exercise barn, not even close.
Refrigerator did not cool properly.
No assistance (or even apology) from owner when contacted about these problems (we eventually bought our own towels, resorted to keeping food in coolers, and used a space heater in unheated bedroom).
The office was too full of stored furniture to use.
Downstairs shower doesn't work well.
No closets in bedrooms (minor).
We could only sleep 11 comfortably by using our air mattresses. The sleeper sofas mentioned in the reviews are not wide enough for 2 adults.
No written instructions for arrival / departure procedures. (A con because it seemed like the owners didn't care as usually owners are very specific: where to put trash, heat settings, doors to lock, sheets / towels, etc.).
Considering the price of the rental, the problems we had, and most importantly the lack of response we received from the owners, I feel it only deserves 2 stars.
The house is great for a group of friends traveling together. It was really clean and cozy! The wood burning stoves warmed the whole house and the open concept kept everyone feeling together and the cooks never felt left out. The beds were really comfortable and everyone slept great! The property was huge and we were able to do lots of hiking right from the backyard. The only reason why I didn't give the house 5 stars was because the gym/yoga room isn't done and there is no way to access it. It wasn't
A big deal for our group. ..we just hiked instead! The hot tub was great but it took a long time to warm up. I think the water was just changed so it was fine with us. Overall it was a great stay and I wouldn't hesitate to return!
Amazing house! My group truly had a wonderful time!
The listing description was very accurate except the photos did not do the house justice! The home was very clean and well maintained with plenty of clean sheets and towels. I was with a group of 10 and the home had more then enough space. The hot tub was fantastic and a nice treat after a day on the slopes. The kitchen/dining/living room space was open and perfect for entertaining. The foodies in my group were thrilled, the kitchen had everything they needed and more.
The owners were extremely helpful throughout the entire planning stage and stay. We had an issue with the cable in the living room, I called the owner and it was fixed within the hour.
I will definitely recommend this property to my friends and family!
