Pictures tell it all! The main room faces Magens bay. The house is located in a gated community. It's very quiet, very private. All the rooms are large. The living room is 800 square feet. It is open, airy and not cluttered with a lot of furniture. It is 46 feet wide, has an 11 foot ceiling and 9 foot windows. You don't have to sit outside to enjoy the view including the sun setting which occurs right in front of the house over the bay . The kitchen is huge and has everything you could possibly need. We spend most of our time cooking on the barbeque. The veranda is 8 feet by 30 feet with a table that seats 4 and all the chairs face the view of the bay. The shower is open at the top and covered with a mosquito screen so you can take a shower & see the stars at the same time. The property is not perfectly manicured so it doesn't look like a hotel. It's a little overgrown so you really feel like your in the tropics. There is a second bedroom with 2 twin beds that can be joined to make one queen size bed.
We have resident iguanas, parakeets, humming birds and an infinite number of birds. 'This place is nice!'
The House of Jasmine is a cozy villa surrounded by lush tropical gardens with gorgeous views of Magens Bay. It has a beautiful balcony where you can barbecue with postcard views and the house itself is a Bali inspired comfortable home with AC if needed and a kitchen with most everything you need. It is within walking distance to platform beach which is essentially an enormous swimming pool amongst small sand beaches and stunning rocks. There you can watch sea birds diving for fish no more than a few feet in front of you. The stairs to platform beach (not the owners responsibility I should add) are a little in disrepair so it's a bit of a scamble down a steep hill. We stayed with 2 couples quite comfortably. The owner really cares about his house but also about his guests and he goes out of his way to help when needed. The instructions to the house and various points are quite good but you can easily get around the island with Google if that's your thing. Don't hesitate to stay here as it's one of the best value for money villas on the island.
The house was set amongst the hills and the view knocked the wind right out of you. My husband and I booked this place based on the photos but the customer service was amazing. We got lost in the rain and the owner in New York talked us right to the front door. We stayed for a week exploring the island and loving The house. The shower is so cool, the air conditioning made it cool in the house and it's a huge property. We lived outside on the deck watching the ships!!! This property was with every penny. It has two bedrooms and the largest living room and the decor is cool!!! If your going to the Virgin Islands and want to be staying on a glorious property with no condo neighbors this is the rental property for you. Best 2016 ever!!! I would stay here again and the owner is Amazing!!! He made the trip stress free!!!!!
After researching multiple listings and reaching out to three different owners, we chose House of Jasmine. Response time to the original request was outstanding, contact with the owner was like talking with an old friend, and the rental process was quick and efficient. Upon arrival at the house, we were even more thrilled with the choice. The house is spacious, extremely clean, and in a wonderful location on the island. The house includes all the amenities needed for a relaxing week, and then some. Fully set-up kitchen, lovely bedrooms, a comfortable sofa, wonderful shower, and a beautiful deck with stunning views of Magen's Bay. Every morning we started with a walk in the local area. The fauna and flora was gorgeous as colorful caterpillars, hummingbirds, parrots, butterflies, and flowers are plentiful. The private beach was a perfect spot to start the morning watching the fish jump and birds feed in Magen's Bay. Directions provided by the owner were spot-on and we were able to easily navigate the island after the first couple of trips around. One morning we walked to the end of the peninsula from the house, about 1.3 miles each way, and had the pleasure of viewing multiple rainbows including one that straddled the peninsula with both ends flowing into the water - stunning. In all, more than 15 rainbows were visible around the island during our stay including one that appeared just as we boarded the plane to leave. I look forward to returning to St. Thomas and House of Jasmine in the future.
My husband and I just returned from our stay last week at the House of Jasmine and I miss it so much already! Being very picky about cleanliness, the House of Jasmine was so neat and clean! The pictures don't do it justice. It was so spacious, beautifully decorated, and had everything we needed for our stay. Having breakfast and coffee on the outdoor porch with the most amazing views was the best way to start every day. Dinner and Margaritas in the evening was quite a treat also. Equipped with AC, we didn't even need to use it. With the windows open and the fans going, the breeze was great. The bathroom and outdoor shower looked brand new. Relaxing in the hammock on the side deck was so peaceful and the view was so breathtaking I needed to pinch myself! This place was also in a perfect location for us. Quiet and secluded yet a very short ride to town with all kinds of shops and restaurants.. Battman has thought of everything for this place. All of his directions and recommendations were spot on and very detailed, leaving no question on how to get anywhere or where to go. We snorkeled at Coki Beach and swam in Magens Bay. We also ventured down to the East side of the Island to a food truck called Off The Grid for an amazing BBQ lunch with breathtaking views. Being in St. Thomas for a wedding, I am so happy that my husband and I decided to forgo the usual hotel experience and get the full island experience by staying at House of Jasmine. All that room to move around and relax and cook and drink at our leisure, the peace and quiet, the wildlife, etc. I could go on and on! My husband and I would absolutely stay in this home when we visit St. Thomas again and we would definitely recommend the House of Jasmine to friends and relatives! (As long as it's not when I'm there! )
after a winter from hell... actually, at the tail end of an extended winter from hell, we took a week at alan's home on st. thomas and it was perfect. the small public beach we love the most was a short hike down the road and some stairs, and then a vigorous wade around some rocks, our exercise at the beginning and in the middle of each day. and well worth it.
we had total privacy, nestled down the hill from the road by a short set of steps, and could relax comfortably inside and out. meals were easy with the grill and kitchen, and access to our friends across the bay an easy fast ride in the car.
thanks, alan, for sharing your home with us. you've treated us like friends who were guests from the beginning of the rental process all the way through, and i've already recommended your place to others.
This was our first time renting a home for a vacation. We were pleasantly surprised at the ease of working with this owner and found the house to be as beautiful, if not more, than the pictures. The location was perfect for our visit. We were able to relax at the house and local beach as well as explore the island, hang out with locals, enjoy great food, and local beaches. The views from the house were breath-taking. Watching the yachts come in and out of the bay were spectacular. We look forward to making a return trip.
Five minutes from Magens Bay (one of the Top ten beaches in the world) 15 Minutes from Charlotte Amalie the downtown shopping & Historic District.
