Lake Norman is the largest lake in North Carolina, with over 520 miles of shoreline.
The warm water is perfect for swimming, boating, fishing and relaxing. The house is located on a quiet cove on the northeast side of the lake, easy to access from Interstate 77, about 40 miles north of Charlotte, just minutes from Lake Norman State Park.
Easy day trips can be made to Charlotte, Hickory, Lowe's Motor Speedway, Paramount's Carowinds Theme Park, the Biltmore Estate, and many other local attractions. There are also nearby restaurants, shopping, go-karts, and plenty of other activities, if you want to stay busy.
The house sits on a large .7 acre wooded lot and is a perfect getaway any time of year. The lake water is perfect for swimming from May thru September, with canoeing, kayaking, sailing, boating and fishing available all year.
The outdoor fire pit is a hit all year as well, while the 2 indoor stone fireplaces make everyone warm and toasty from fall through early spring. The hot tub is fun all year too.
Inside the house, the loft overlooks the great room, which has a soaring cathedral ceiling and a big stone fireplace. The master bedroom, with a private master bath, is also located on the 1st floor, along with a 2nd bedroom and another full bath. Completing the 1st floor are the dining room, screened porch/outdoor dining room, and complete kitchen with electric range and oven, refrigerator with ice maker, microwave, coffee maker, blender, toaster oven, mixer, and more.
The loft has 3 single beds, which are comfortable for kids or adults. Access is up a fairly steep stairway/ladder, so be careful. It's a great hang-out for kids, and a place for them to escape from their parents.
The lower level has 2 more bedrooms and a 3rd full bath. It also has a large family room with a wet bar and another big stone fireplace. There's a wrap-around couch in front of the fireplace and TV, and also a futon for additional seating or sleeping.
The deck that spans the 1st floor in back of the house has a steel cable rail, so it doesn't block views of the private dock and the lake. The hot tub, with wrap-around deck and steps, is nestled in overhanging dogwood trees overlooking the lake. A few steps away is the large fire pit, great for cooking hotdogs or marshmallows, or warming up on a cool fall day.
The deep water dock averages 11 feet of depth, and even had 8 feet of water under it during the 2007 drought, so we could take boats out while many others were aground. Rent a boat nearby, or bring your own - the community boat ramp is about 150 yards down the street.
The dock also has 4 canvas swinging chairs (with cup holders) mounted on springs and swivels. Sitting in one of those chairs, sipping your favorite beverage, a cool breeze in the air...there just isn't a better way to relax. But if you have to work during your escape, don't worry...THE SECURE WIRELESS NETWORK WORKS AT THE DOCK!
Weekly rentals during the summer go from Sunday to Sunday. The rest of the year you can check in and check out whatever day you'd like, as long as you're able to stay at least two days. Please click the Calendar link to see if our house will fit your vacation.

This home offers room for 15 with places for privacy and multiple indoor and outdoor gathering areas. 2 families rented this with teens, a baby, a young coyple , and older couple. Kitchen is great for gourmet meals with plenty of room for helpers. Owner has a stash of basic needs like salt and pepper. Brightly lit card table for 4 makes inside games fun. Screened dining for 10 along with indoor round table and breakfast bar for 6 makes serving meals diverse, along with outside picnic table. Beds are very comfortable and upkeep is easy with wood floors and granite surfaces. Master suite is exceptional for such a relaxed, affordable home. Lake slide, kayaks, and boat dock kept us busy. We rented a pontoon and was able to dock it there along with free docking while visiting Queens Landing. Loft is entire secret play place for young children and room for 3 to sleep in beds, more on floor if needed. We will be back. Hot tub, fire pit and view are the best feature.
The house and area was terrific! 5 stars all the way around! Mike was very prompt in responding to my questions from beginning to end, extra materials sent to me that were extremely helpful about the surrounding area, clear instructions, accommodating neighbors, wonderful neighborhood. My only complaint was the stairs to and from the dock are steep, but it was clearly stated before we rented so it wasn't unexpected and they even put in a little bench halfway to give you a moment to rest, which I recommend taking to enjoy the gorgeous view of the water. Our group was thrilled with the property and really gave us all the relaxation and taste of luxury we were looking for. More than enough sleeping space and plenty of little extra details that made the house very comfortable to live in for a few days. The kayaks were wonderful, I had never been on one before so I had to try it, Mid-October the water was a hair chilly but you barely get wet in the kayak as long as you don't flip and it was pretty easy to keep your balance after you relaxed. Stop looking now, this is your dream vacation.
We loved this house! The 17 year olds loved the apartment-like basement, the young working adults loved the fire pit and kayaks, and us older adults loved the hanging chairs at the dock. We fished, rented a boat to tube, rented SUPs, went to Carowinds, and pub trivia night with our daughter who lives in Charlotte. Used the hot tub and fire pit almost daily, and spent many afternoons on the hanging chairs. Our kids had friends who had not experienced water sports, all loved exploring the coves and islands on kayaks, tubing on the main channel, and paddle boarding. The only things missing were a Keurig( I had checked with Mike first so we packed our own), a cookie sheet, and a place to buy souvenirs. We spent our one day of rain trying to get something that said Lake Norman, even in Mooresville, and couldn't find anything. Twice we were told to try a gas station, but we didn't do that. Seemed wrong. Mike was easy to work with, quick to respond, even during our visit. Be aware, the hot tub maintenance guy comes on Monday-the girls were using it and he startled them. I just received a thank you note from one of the friends that my daughter brought-saying it was exceptional and she loved every day of the trip. We all did!
5 stars! The lake house was everything I expected and more. The renter was fantastic to correspond with and made sure we had the best stay possible. The crowd favorite was definitely the swinging chairs at the dock. You can sick and relax in those all day. We will be returning next summer!
We had a great time during our visit to lake norman. The house was well maintained, came with very clear instructions and was located in a wonderful spot on the river. We spent most of the time on the dock and were very lucky to have nearly perfect weather. The homeowner was very responsive to our questions and very detailed and timely in his responses. Thanks for a great weekend!
This house far exceeded our expectations. The furnishings and home floor plan were incredible. We loved the kitchen and all the accessories that allowed us to prepare all of our meals and not worry about dining out. The outdoor decks, hot tub, fire pit and private dock were the highlight of our weekend. Our extended families from PA and NJ are eager to return.
First I have to compliment Mike, the owner, he is great to work with and the property is exactly like the photos with only one exception. That is the long hike to the water & dock. It is not quite apparent in the photos. There are 114 stairs from the house to the dock and it will be a challenge for anyone not in shape. You learn really quickly that you do not want to forget something when you head down to the water. With that being said the rest of the property is just as advertised. It worked out perfectly for our family and Mike made the rental process simple & convenient.
All the bedrooms were quite comfortable, the kitchen had all the necessary items to make my wife happy, the dock had space to park our boat, the kids loved the kayaks, hanging chairs & water slide. We were too tired from being on the water all day to take advantage of the hot tub or fire, but we did light the tiki torches most nights.
Property in located on Lake Norman, a few miles north of Lake Norman State Park. The park has a beach, hiking and a lot of bike trails. There is nearby grocery shopping: 7 minutes to Food Lion in Troutman, and 20 minutes to Harris Teeter and Super Target in Mooresville. There are also a lot of small cozy restaurants and bigger national restaurants in Troutman and in Mooresville.
