About Inga Middleton
My name is Inga Middleton. I am half Icelandic, half English. I grew up in Iceland but have lived in the UK on and off over the last 20 years.
Inga Middleton purchased this Cottage in 2007
Why Inga Middleton chose Capital Region
I chose to buy a cottage near Reykjavik so we could enjoy being in the stunning and peaceful Icelandic country side, but close enough to the capital to be able to see friends and family. The cottage is also very cozy and comfortable, and the view down the valley is spectacular; on a clear day the majestic Snaefellsnes glacier can be seen in the distance. This glacier has a special place in the hearts of the nation and it is very special to have such a good view of of it.
What makes this Cottage unique
We love hiking in the mountains surrounding the cottage and fishing in the lake.It is also easy to get to all the major sights of southern Iceland and there are some fantastic swimming pools less than half and hour away. Watching the sunset from the terrace or from the rocking chair is very special, especially in the spring during lambing season (may) when the little lambs skip across the field below the cabin.
Sports & Adventure Activities
Iceland is a must see
I have never seen beauty like Iceland had to offer on so many different levels. The cottage was great, cozy and a much better option then a hotel. We did have issues with the wifi being out the whole time we were there due to weather. Though this was a damper Inga continued everyday to give updates and do everything in her power to get it up and running. She even went as far as offering a discount because of the inconvenience which shows her character. I would highly suggest this beautiful cottage as it is a great place to relax in peace and quiet after a day of adventures.
The stay at the cottage was fantastic. The location was perfect for our daytime adventures. We were out and about so much that we unfortunately did not get a chance to hike in the valleys around the cottage.
The cottage was inviting and cozy, just like the pictures. We were able to save money by cooking most of our evening meals at the cottage. There were just two of us staying there and, as women, we felt very comfortable and safe, which was important to us. Even hanging out on the deck at night...we were comfortable. We were able to view the Aurora one evening from the deck....it was fantastic. The Mosfellsbakarí was a fantastic place and an easy drive from the cottage.....highly recommended. Kaffi Kjós is only open on the weekends right now but we did eat there for our first meal in Iceland.
Inga was very responsive when we had questions. She also allowed us to go to the cottage as soon as we landed since the turnover was being done the day before we arrived. This was very much appreciated since we landed early in the morning. We were able to go directly to the cottage and rest before heading into Mosfellsbær to the grocery store and checking the area out.
Thank you for sharing such a wonderful place.
Lovely cottage in a beautiful area!
Inga's cottage was perfect for our family of four. The cottage is very quaint and cozy. Although the loft has a shorter ceiling, our teenage daughters fought over who would get to sleep there. During our stay we explored the waterfall near the cottage, the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, Golden Circle, and West Iceland. We were very lucky and saw the NorthernLights twice and several beautiful sunsets from the deck of the cottage.
Situated in an idyllic, quiet location, this well-equipped cottage has a huge deck facing a glacier-carved valley. It's within a half hour of many hiking trails and at a reasonable distance from the Golden Circle.
Our family travels frequently across North America and Europe, and this is is one of our two favourite rentals of all time. Our daughter who couldn't make it was envious when she saw the pictures!
So happy you enjoyed the cottage, our beautiful valley and the aproximity to all the major sights of the south!
Lovely cottage outside the city
Our time at the cottage was absolutely perfect. Situated about 30 minutes from Reykjavik it had the perfect mix of being close to everything yet far enough away to feel secluded. All the amenities of home.
Lovely, cosy, well equipt cottage, in a beautiful setting.. Excellent bsse to explore the West coast of this amazing country.
