A fantastic property, well worth the money

  • 5 of 5

We had a group stay at Villa Fontaine for my husband's 40 birthday recently and absolutely loved it. The property is stunning, meticulously maintained, and had a lot of room for our group to spread out or come together. Terry and Karen could not have been more accommodating in helping us think through our trip and how to make the most of it. Nathalie brought amazing pastries every day, and cooked homemade pizzas for us in the wood fired oven by the pool that were spectacular. It was a bit tricky to find at first, but Karen gave us careful directions. They are wonderful hosts, and everyone in our group left wanting to stay longer and thinking of ways to come back another summer.

Owner's Response: One of the pleasures of a property like Villa Fontaine is the opportunity to meet some of its interesting and special guests, Bill and his friends did not disappoint. It was our pleasure hosting them and hope that they return in the future.

Wonderful place for a large group!

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful place to stay!

Hidden away but close to Aix, it is one of the nicest places we have ever stayed at - especially with a larger group.

We stayed at Villa Fontaine with 3 families, 12 people in total. The property is well suited for such a group. The garden is beautiful with more than plenty of room for all the kids to roam around and play any games they want. The pool and poolhouse are lovely - even if the water was still quite chilly in early May!

One night we made our own pizzas in the pizza oven which was good fun, AND very yummy to boot. The bedrooms are all very nice and the beds are very comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need (having two dishwashers is very handy for a large group!), and we also used the BBQ, and one night even the fireplace when it was a bit chilly. The wine cellar is a lovely idea and allows you to try different wines especially if you are not too familiar with French wines - there is so much choice! We organised our own Kids Games and the kids did obstacle courses in the garden, races, penalty shoot-outs, water balloon fights by the pool, and more! :-)

The housekeeper Nathalie was there every day for a few hours and was most helpful with anything we wanted to ask or have her help us with. We definitely hope to be back at this villa in the future!

Owner's Response: This group consisted of three couples with six children from the Netherlands visiting to participate in the Ironman competition held each year in Aix . Initially I was concerned six children can be a handful. Karen and I were pleasantly surprised, it worked out beautifully. Lovely people, it was our pleasure to host them.

This is an amazing property (bi-lingual review)

我們太喜歡這個房子了!我們全家從世界各地第一次在普羅旺斯聚會,太開心了。非常謝謝屋主Terry, Karen 還有管家 Erwan, Christel 的悉心照顧,一切美輪美奐。

This was an extraordinary property with owners and on-site staff who cared a lot about the property and wanted to make sure we enjoyed every day of our trip. Although we stayed for only one week, we wished we stayed for two weeks or even a month. We brought family from the U.S., Asia and Europe together and everything was amazing, from the surroundings to the villages nearby. Most importantly, Terry and Karen were most helpful from the day we made the booking. Furthermore, Erwan and Christel are able to provide a wide range of services which we wished we had utilized more, they are an amazing couple and would come to our aid anytime. The meals they prepared and the trip they took us on were far better than our trying to venture out by ourselves (and some of us we spoke French, so it was not for the lack of trying). The one piece of advice which we should have taken is to let Erwan and Chirstel pick us up. We insisted on driving there by ourselves (in three cars) and we were very disappointed with the cars Avis gave us, and even after spending an hour programming the address into the GPS, the house was impossible to find. We want to return to this property and enjoy it again soon and will stay in the house much more next time. Thank you Karen and Terry!

This property exceeded our expectations!!

  • 5 of 5

We have been using HomeAway for a few years and have never been disappointed, but this year, at Villa Fontaine, we found a little piece of paradise in Aix-en-Provence. This property was everything the owner said it was and more. The property was impeccably maintained and absolutely gorgeous and lacked nothing as far as amenities. We invited two other couples to join us and they too were wowed by the property. And what put it over the top was the concierge Erwan and his wife Christel. Erwan met us at the airport and then went back the next day to pick up our delayed luggage. If anyone even mentioned wanting something, it was there the next day. They did every from showing us the beautiful countryside of Provence to Christel cooking an amazing dinner for my 60th birthday. Erwan even helped us create some fantastic pizzas in the outdoor pizza oven. All of this helped make this a magical time in Provence that none of us will ever forget. We have already discussed going back again!! We have recommended this property to every we know.

Magnificent Villa!

  • 5 of 5

We are a group of 5 couples that rented Villa Fontaine for one week and wished it could have been for two weeks! The Villa is magnificent. It is nestled in the countryside yet close to several towns/villages. We took short trips to Aix, L’isle Sur La Sorgue, Bonnieux, Roussilon, Gordes, Les Baux, Moustier, St Remy and Lourmarin. The best part of every day was coming back to the villa to enjoy the pool, cook a meal together, drink wine and relax amongst this beautiful estate. One evening we baked pizza in the wood-fire oven at the pool house and another evening we had the pleasure of having Chef Ronald cook a meal for us. What a treat! The photos on the website are very accurate. The home is impeccable. The beds and furnishings are very comfortable. The decor and artwork are amazing. The air conditioners worked very well. We all highly recommend that you stay at Villa Fontaine to take in the scent of lavender and feel the peacefulness of the countryside around you.

A fantastic experience!

  • 5 of 5

The listing description of the Villa Fontaine does not do it justice. It was way beyond our expectations, a magnificent house with age, charm, and character. Our family of nine, assembled for a special birthday celebration, were pleased with their comfortable and beautifully decorated rooms, each with its own bath. The dining room, living room, and side rooms were spacious, yet welcoming, and the large pool was perfect for the various ages of our family. It was difficult to leave our temporary home, even to visit the delightful towns of Avignon, Arles, and Aix en Provence, and some of us elected to stay at the villa most of our visit. The grounds are well maintained and magnificent, even with a distant view of Mount Saint Victoire. One of the best features of our stay was the staff - Erwan and Kristel, the caring concierges, who saw to it that we had baguettes and croissants not to mention a large variety of cheeses for breakfast and were available for a variety of services. We asked Ronald, the chef, to cook us a special birthday dinner, which turned out to be the best meal we had in France! We will never forget our family visit to Villa Fontaine and the people who made our stay so memorable. We have already recommended this extraordinary villa to several of our friends.
