Wow!

  • 5 of 5

Although we had a good idea of what to expect from reading numerous VRBO reviews, upon our arrival at "house Oliver" we were more than pleasantly surprised. Walking up the few steps to the house we were taken back by the sheer beauty of the views. Their were gorgeous views that stretched from Minori on the left to shimmering blue waters on the right. Breathtaking! Entering the house, we set eyes on a tastefully furnished apartment with three levels, all spotlessly clean. The kitchen was well stocked and we shared a glass of Prosecca while Oliver shared his ideas for places to eat and things to do. It was a great first day.

Beautiful and quite functional, the home was tastefully furnished. The kitchen, modern and clean is actually co-located with the upstairs master suite. Don’t ask me how they pulled this off but it fits perfectly and works very well when transporting coffee from the kitchen to the porch for an early morning viewing of the sunrise.

One must keep in mind that Amalfi Drive is RIGHT beneath the gate to House Oliver. Each time you leave you must proceed with some caution. Walking along the Amalfi Drive can be daunting at first but after a few days you will likely find it fun, interesting and great exercise. We did.

The view! You must see it to believe it. Enough said.

Now for what makes the visit a truly pleasurable experience: Oliver and his wife Lele (sp). They sparkle with enthusiasm for their beautiful home. They are proud of their country and the wonderful area they call home and rightfully so. Gracious, friendly and helpful they were available when we needed them and went quietly about their business when we didn’t. Indeed, it was because of this exuberance that we took him up on his “Boat Ride”. An experience for the ages. Seeing the Amalfi Coastline from the water was worth every penny. Oliver showed us sights we would never have seen on our own then took a slow cruise to a restaurant where my wife and I shared “Jackie’s Favorite” pasta. We swam twice and thoroughly enjoyed the day. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

During our stay we had but few moments to talk with Lele. We would have loved more time with her.

I give House Oliver every bit of five stars in my rating. They work hard to earn that rating and all their efforts translate into a vacation experience that you will never forget.

PS: If you need a driver, ask for Claudio. He is something special!

Wonderful Experience

  • 5 of 5

House Oliver is a fantastic place to stay. Oliver and Lella are very gracious hosts who go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The house is updated and very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and Ferraras supply some dry goods and several refrigerated foods for your use. They even have wines available for purchase! The bathrooms have very modern fixtures including rain showers and are well stocked with soaps, conditioners, etc. The view from the terrace is incredible!! We enjoyed relaxing on the patio in the morning with coffee watching the sunrise and with wine in the evenings for the sunsets. We wish we could have stayed longer. You cannot go wrong with this rental!!!!

Breathtaking is an understatement

  • 5 of 5

This property and more importantly the owner are wonderful. We stayed 4 nights and upon arrival Olivier meets you and shares a bottle of wine as he gets you settled in. He has some food in the refrigerator and some snacks already supplied when you arrive. He is very pleasant and the property is magnificent. It has lots of character and charm with a view that is awesome. He also offers a private boat ride which we highly suggest. On the cruise he supplies food and drinks with a guided tour up and down the coast. He also allows time to just sit and enjoy or swim too.

The best part about the experience besides the view is Olivier himself, he makes the whole experience wonderful and we feel we have a friend in Amalfi forever.

A very special stay at House Oliver on the Almalfi Coast

  • 5 of 5

We originally booked House Oliver because of its location and amazing reviews, we were not disappointed. Oliver welcomed us warmly on arrival with a drink and information regarding best places to visit and to eat. We were grateful for the food items provided as it meant we didn’t have to rush out for provisions.

We chose our rooms with the toss of a coin. Our friends had the room on the lower level that opens up on to the sitting room with views over the sea, and we had the room up a level with doors that opened on to the lovely terrace. This room also accommodates the compact kitchen that is separated from the bedroom by folding doors. Yes, it does sound a bit bizarre but it really does work.

The early October evenings tended to be a bit chilly for alfresco dining, so we chose to eat out at lunch time and enjoy antipasti in the evening around the coffee table in the sitting room. One evening we decided to cook spaghetti and needed to sit at a high table. There is a folding table in the bedroom(with the kitchen). When four people are seated it was a ‘tiny bit cosy’. As it turned out it wasn’t a problem, the quirkiness of the house just adds to its appeal. As the terrace faces east, every morning was warm enough to breakfast on the terrace.

Walking from the house may appear not to be for the feint hearted, but our experience was that it’s fine to walk to Minori, Atrani or Amalfi, but you must obey the rule to always only walk on the seaward side of the road – very important! Oliver does supply torches for walking at night.

We had a fabulous day on Oliver’s boat trip along the Amalfi coast so do go along if you can, we loved it. Claudio, the local driver arranged via Oliver, is a very safe driver and took us on a day trip to Pompeii via the coastal road to Salerno. On arrival in Pompeii he arranged a personal guide for us. Later after a wine tasting with lunch, we returned via Sorrento along the coast road to Positano and Amalfi! With an evening return flight, Claudio picked us (and luggage) up from the house at 9.30, drove us to Herculaneum. Later, lunch at ‘the best Pizza Restaurant in Napoli’. The queue confirmed Claudio’s choice, fantastic pizzas! After a short tour of the sights of Naples we were dropped at the airport.

We found that Oliver and Lella were very genuine people focussed on ensuring our stay was a very pleasurable experience.

Thanks again to Oliver & Lella

Ciao.

A sepcial time with Oliver

  • 5 of 5

The location of Oliver's apartment is wonderful - we were able to walk into Minori and Amalfi and up to Ravello and the views are indeed breathtaking. Oliver and Lella have thought of everything you could possible need during your stay. And if you are able to take advantage of a boat trip with Oliver it is an experience you will never forget!

Wow!! You will not be disappointed!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at House Oliver. It was like staying in a 5 star hotel without all the fuss and bother. The accommodations were as advertised. We stayed with 2 couples, we each had our own bedroom and bathroom areas with plenty of space. Everything was very well maintained and all the amenities you could want were available. One of the best features was a cleaning service every day! The location was excellent, easily walkable to Miniori and Atrani, although you had to be careful when you exited the property because you were on a main road. There was a driver, Claudio, available to take you anywhere you wanted to go, including a transfer from Rome Fiumincino airport.

Oliver and Lella were unbelievable hosts! Oliver was there to welcome us upon arrival with sparkling wine and conversation. He provided us with some excellent recommendations for activities and restaurants. We spent a wonderful day on his lovely boat touring the coast. We only wish we could have spent more time with Lella!

We have already recommended house Oliver to friends and plan on returning in the future!!
