Wow!

  • 5 of 5

Although we had a good idea of what to expect from reading numerous VRBO reviews, upon our arrival at "house Oliver" we were more than pleasantly surprised. Walking up the few steps to the house we were taken back by the sheer beauty of the views. Their were gorgeous views that stretched from Minori on the left to shimmering blue waters on the right. Breathtaking! Entering the house, we set eyes on a tastefully furnished apartment with three levels, all spotlessly clean. The kitchen was well stocked and we shared a glass of Prosecca while Oliver shared his ideas for places to eat and things to do. It was a great first day.

Beautiful and quite functional, the home was tastefully furnished. The kitchen, modern and clean is actually co-located with the upstairs master suite. Don’t ask me how they pulled this off but it fits perfectly and works very well when transporting coffee from the kitchen to the porch for an early morning viewing of the sunrise.

One must keep in mind that Amalfi Drive is RIGHT beneath the gate to House Oliver. Each time you leave you must proceed with some caution. Walking along the Amalfi Drive can be daunting at first but after a few days you will likely find it fun, interesting and great exercise. We did.

The view! You must see it to believe it. Enough said.

Now for what makes the visit a truly pleasurable experience: Oliver and his wife Lele (sp). They sparkle with enthusiasm for their beautiful home. They are proud of their country and the wonderful area they call home and rightfully so. Gracious, friendly and helpful they were available when we needed them and went quietly about their business when we didn’t. Indeed, it was because of this exuberance that we took him up on his “Boat Ride”. An experience for the ages. Seeing the Amalfi Coastline from the water was worth every penny. Oliver showed us sights we would never have seen on our own then took a slow cruise to a restaurant where my wife and I shared “Jackie’s Favorite” pasta. We swam twice and thoroughly enjoyed the day. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

During our stay we had but few moments to talk with Lele. We would have loved more time with her.

I give House Oliver every bit of five stars in my rating. They work hard to earn that rating and all their efforts translate into a vacation experience that you will never forget.

PS: If you need a driver, ask for Claudio. He is something special!

House Oliver is perfection. The house is clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. Oliver and his wife are warm and very welcoming. They have thought of every little detail to make your stay wonderful. The view from the house is breathtaking! It is an unobstructed view of the sea and the towns of Minori and Maiori. The location is very convenient. It an easy walk into Atrani, Amalfi, Minori and Maiori. I would highly recommend this place.

We loved our stay at House Oliver and it's stunning location perched above the sea!

  • 5 of 5

Our experience at House Oliver was everything we expected and more! Before we arrived Oliver helped arrange a wonderful driver, Claudio to pick us up from the train. He was prompt, a great driver AND the Mercedes was a plus! We arrived at the villa, had our luggage carried for us. Upon entering the beautiful space a sumptuous platter of fresh fruit was set along with a pantry and fridge stocked with local items like eggs, milk, yogurt, cheese, cookies , crackers and coffee. We shared a delicious welcome aperitif with Oliver and chatted about local sites. The beds are perfect, the decor tasteful and interesting and the setting was stunning. Not to be missed was the once in a lifetime cruise on Oliver's yacht complete with swimming and more great eating. We can't say enough about our special stay with wonderful hosts Oliver and Lela. It was PERFECT!

Wow! Absolutely Perfect!!

  • 5 of 5

WOW!! This is the best way to sum up our stay at House Oliver in the Amalfi Coast. Our holiday was beyond our expectations.

Oliver and Lella thought of everything to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. From the moment we arrived until departure we felt at home. The villa is simply and perfectly appointed for two couples travelling together or a family of five. The view from all windows and balconies was magnificent. Oliver will greet you, arrange to have your luggage taken up to the villa and have the kitchen stocked with fresh food and wine. Contrary to other posts about the location of the kitchen, discretely tucked into one of the bedrooms. We found this to be a brilliant use of space and extremely convenient with everything that you will need. There are local grocery stores where you can buy fresh and delicious foods, although we highly recommend dining at the places suggested by Oliver.

Oliver provided assistance with transportation and spot on advice about where to visit and how to get there safely. The house is within walking distance to Minori (20 min) and Atrani (15 min) and even the city of Amalfi only another 10 min past Atrani and through the air-conditioned mountain tunnel. The food and drink were amazing so you will be thankful for the walking. If you take the bus be sure to wave at the driver so he stops to pick you up! You can get to Ravello, a must see, by arranging a ride with one of the drivers working with Oliver. The coastline views are spectacular! The hidden little beach at Atrani is worth the walk and of course the stairs. The restaurant Mistral in Atrani is also easily missed but well worth the walk once you have arrived. In Minori the restaurant Il Giardiniello was another favourite. The food and the ambience are all fantastic.

You can take a ferry with ease from Minori to Amalfi, Positano, Sorrento and even the island of Capri. Stay at least one week as there are many sites to see, food to eat and beaches to enjoy. Let Oliver and Lella be your guides and trust that they will steer you in the right direction to make your Amalfi holiday a memorable one.

Seriously consider booking the coastline boat tour with Oliver and his first mate Pietro. You will have no regrets and we are confident it will be one of the many highlights of your stay.

Thank you Oliver and Lella for making our holiday so wonderful. We will book House Oliver again without hesitation.

Owner's Response: We always ask our guests to write honestly their experience at our Home, that can help others to choose well, that's why we want answer to your review in order to clarify: 1- We never wrote that there was direct access to the beach but that it needs to walk on foot to reach it 2- The kitchen is enclosed in a wooden box in one of the rooms and is provided with a regular extractor fun 3- On our home site is clearly written that parking is chargeable and is 200 meters away from the property

Beyond Fabulous!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at House Oliver was beyond our expectations. Oliver and Lela were such gracious hosts. We arrived to a fully stocked home (fruits from Oliver's garden, cereals, coffee, milk, juice, water). There was not one household item missing ie iron, ironing board, hair dryer -- very important for three woman travelling together!! -- full kitchen etc). Oliver greeted us with a bottle of proseco and he and Lela came over our last day with coffee and beautiful lemon soaps for each of us. The views are breathtaking from the terraces (and from the windows). The pictures on the website do not do it justice!! Although fairly close to town, do not hesitate to use his driver who was a phone call away and extremely fair pricing. I could go on and on but we cannot wait to go back!!!!
