This place is special primary because of its garden and the staff. My only criticism would be to encourage the owners of the units to improve the working ondition of the staff and invite the renters to be very generous towards the staff before departure. MANY THANKS THERESA, ANA, ANGLE AND PIERRE.
ROGER AND FRANCINE
Thank you Roger and Francine.
We did not have the opportunity to meet as we only exchanged emails prior to your arrival.
In order to rate you as guests a asked by HomeAway, I contacted some people at Albatros and was pleased to hear that you are caring people.
I am very well aware of the difficulties that many local people endure in that country. My husband and I have been regularly helping employees and others financially. We have paid for ambulances, nurses or doctors to go in ambulances when required by the condition of the person and their medical care until they could get to a public hospital.
Regarding the working conditions for the employees, two years ago the foreign owners at Albatros hired and paid somebody to build a roofed terrace with a kitchen for the employees to have a pleasant place to eat but a local owner went and demolished it. There is almost no middle class in the country but quite often those people who are in contact with foreigners can benefit from their help. There are just too many people that need support.
In your thanks you missed Luna, Ignacio and Manuelcito who are also great people. In fact I think we are very fortunate to have such devoted staff that will do their best for guests to enjoy their stay.
We stayed at Albatross this Christmas 2015. First impression is that the complex is not on the beach side of the main road as the map in HomeAway says it is. Instead it is down and on the other side of the main road, which was dangerous to cross every time.
The condo for the most part was clean however we found out there was no AC so the windows had to be left open all the time. This would not have been too bad but we had a smoker next to us that was out on his patio everyday at 6am hacking up a lung, roosters that crowed all night long and a pack of dogs that were very vocal.
The sink in the powder room was broke, Angel did come and fix that, toilet got clogged but again Angel came and fixed that. There were only 4 bath towels for 5 people and after 4 days of me asking to get one more towel Teresa came through.
So not so thrilled with our accommodations, the grounds were kept clean and neat.
Cabarete beach was fun. There are a lot of places to eat on the beach. We did get scammed by one of the local people Vincent selling tours. He lied about what the tour would be and then never showed for the horseback riding. Life lesson learned!!!
I do my best to provide my visitors with the best service possible but in this case the sink was not 'broke' but needed a minor repair to the drain which was fixed in a very short time while there are a total of three bathrooms available. I am unable to verify the problem of a lack of towels as I can provide extra towels upon request. In fact I had been in contact with the guest during her stay by email and she did not indicate a problem. I am not responsible for her encounters on the beach with tour sellers as it is beyond my control except that I recommend that travellers should always be prudent about making such arrangements. In the description of my property it is written that it is a short walk from the beach indicating that it is not on the beach. We do not need AC in the winter months and the ventilators provide adequatecomfort in the summer.
Very nice and calm
We were 6 and really enjoyed our stay in this apartment. We got what we expected and even slightly more. The shared pool was actually only for us as the other appts were not occupied. Angel, the guardian, was really helpful and always at our service. The distance to the nearest beach is about 300m but that's still a very short walk. It's a very good choice either for a family with kids or someone how likes a calm place to relax and with short distance to everything else around it.
Comfortable 2 bedroom condo in quiet surroundings. Close to a magnificent beach and located in Cabarete on the North coast of the Dominican Republic. A variety of water sports are readily available (wind/kite surfing, sailing, snorkling, canoeing). One can walk for miles on the spacious beach, or go horseback riding in the mountains. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from. Housed in beautiful gardens with pool and lounge chairs.
