Kailua Studio Rental Photos and Description

1 bedroom + sofa bed/futon, 1 bathroom, sleeps 2

Soaring above the palm trees this beautiful private suite invites you to relax being soothed by the gentle tradewinids. Enjoy paradise having a panoramic view of the expansive Ko'olau Mountain Range. Watch the sunrise over the country club near Lanikai beach, and see the sunset behind Mount Olomana, the 'Matterhorn of Hawaii'.

The studio is private and quiet, it has a separate entrance, is situated over the garage, with private parking. It does not share any walls with the main house. In the air conditioned studio is a queen size bed, futon, tile bathroom walk in shower, jacuzzi tub, galley kitchen, and walk in closet. There is a small private outdoor deck to relax and take in the views. We provide beach gear including snorkels , masks, fins, boogie boards, beach towels, and cooler.

Two of Hawaii's most famous beaches are just a 5 minute walk or 1 minute drive. Kailua beach is 2 miles long, and features Flat Island which is a bird sanctuary that you can visit. Lanikai beach is rated one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in the world, yet uncrowded and has a 'local feel.'

Swimming, kayaking, stand-up paddling, kite surfing, snorkeling, windsurfing, boogie boarding and surfing are popular activities at Kailua and Lanikai beaches.

A relatively easy hike is close by, with magnificent 360 degree views of the ocean and mountains.

We're just a five minute drive to Kailua where you can enjoy family and fine dining, and shopping Hawaiian relaxed style in the many contemporary shops.

Waikiki and Honolulu are 30 minutes away, for cultural events, museums, night life, endless restaurants and entertainment. Waikiki is a great place to learn to surf, and take ocean tours.

The North shore a beautiful one hour drive through mountains and pineapple farmland, is famous for world class surfing, botanical gardens, and ancient Hawaiian sites.

The Polynesian cultural center is just 45 minutes away for a day of experiencing a variety of island cultures from hula to fire dancing.

Whatever your interests, you can plan day trips and easily return to your private, quiet and romantic 'bird nest' hide-away.

About The Owner

I am an occupational therapist, yoga instructor and body worker. If you are interested, I offer private sessions to enhance your relaxation while vacationing here in Hawaii.

The Owner purchased this studio in 2003

Why The Owner chose Oahu

It is a quiet neighborhood, 5 minutes walk or bikeride to the 2 mile long Kailua beach, and close to Kailua town and schools, and not very crowded with tourists. It is within easy 30 minute driving distance to the airport, and just 1/2 hour to Waikiki and Honolulu.

What makes this studio unique

Very quiet, no thru traffic, nice neighborhood, close to best beaches, easy access to Honolulu.

Peaceful with a fantastic view of the Koolau Mts and golf course.

This is a great retreat from hectic Waikiki but still on the same island! 5 minute drive to Kailua Beach or Lanikai Beach or drive to the North Shore. Kailua town is charming.

Host is very helpful and has provided info on suggested activities, restaurants etc.

Tastefully decorated room with a great bed! Tiny kitchen but adequate especially for warming take-out from nearby grocery stores and eating on the deck enjoying the view.

We plan to return next year.

Rough around the edges but a great location.

Dan is a great guy who was totally accommodating to us. He does have dogs as he states in the property description and they do bark some but he is quick to quiet them down. The apartment overlooks a golf course so if you want to sleep in, be aware the grounds keepers for the course start mowing down below the apartment at 5:50-6am. The cut Hawaiian flowers that Dan provided for the room was a very nice touch.

Would we stay there again? Probably not but only because we have found Oahu to be way more crowded then we have ever seen it in our numerous past visits.

Favorite place on the island

  • 5 of 5

Wow! Pictures do not do this place justice. The territorial view is breathtaking. So many people get fixated on the beaches that they forget that Oahu's mountains are some of the most picturesque in the US.

The unit itself was very nice: large bathroom, spacious living sleeping/living area, walk-in closet, galley kitchen, private deck. There were also beach chairs, beach towels, boogie boards and coolers for use during our stay. Dan, the owner is wonderful. He could not have been more helpful. He truly embodies the aloha spirit.

My daughter and I traversed the entire island over a two week period and Kailua was hands down our favorite place. On Dan's advice we went up to the north end of Kailua Bay and found white sand, turquoises water, and near empty beaches. Heaven! There are also a number of great hiking trails in the area.

If and when we return to Oahu, we would definitely stay with Dan in Kailua again.

Beautiful mountain view in Kailua

  • 4 of 5

We loved the beautiful mountain view! Lovely space with many special touches and very comfortable bed. In a residential neighborhood, above a private home, separate entrance. We jogged down the hill 10 min to Kuilah Beach Park for morning swim. Good choice for quiet time away...

It was as advertised, which is usually not the case.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your property. The location was perfect and we especially liked sitting on the lanai that overlooked the golf course and wonderful Koolau Mountains. The property had everything we needed and was very comfortable. Thank you for sharing your place with us.

Cozy, comfortable, refreshing

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I wanted to stay in Kailua right after our wedding as we wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu. This place was perfect for what we wanted! It's located in a neighborhood near Kailua beach and close to Lanikai. The suite itself was charming and felt like we were in our own tropical oasis. It overlooked the golf course and had sweeping views of the lush mountain range - a great way to wake up in the morning. It was nice to hear the leaves rustling on the trees at night, I found it pretty peaceful as we were heading to bed. We were a little concerned about the tiny AC unit, but the fans kept it breezy and the place cooled down significantly towards the evening. The owners, Dan and Diane, were very warm and welcoming - their dogs were also very friendly. We can't wait to go back to Oahu and will definitely be considering this property if we find ourselves in Kailua again!
