Why Nancy Zufferey, Rental Consultant chose Berkshires

Relaxing escape - perfect for anyone from NYC, CT and Boston.

The natural beauty of the Hudson Valley has earned the Hudson River the nickname 'America's Rhine'. The Hudson Valley also was the location of the estates of many wealthy New York industrialists, such as John D. Rockefeller and Frederick William Vanderbilt, and of old-moneyed tycoons such as Franklin Roosevelt, who was a descendant of one of the early Dutch families in the region.

What makes this estate unique

This is an exquisite property with expansive acreage that boasts graceful, private, pastoral views from all directions.

A spectacular year-round getaway for those who seek to indulge in the finer side of country life.

Lovely well-equipped Country Home

  • 4 of 5

We rented the guest house of this country estate for a long weekend. The home was very clean and well-maintained. It fit our party of 10 comfortably (with 2 kids on blow up mattresses). The kitchen was spacious and well-equipped, with the exception of a few missing items that would be useful (ice trays, wine glasses, measuring cups). Also, the refrigerator did not seem to be maintaining a cold temperature. We alerted the caretaker of this.

It should be noted that this home is not handicapped friendly, as the main door opens to the upper bedroom level, not the main level.

Grounds are beautiful & the setting is very tranquil. We did not find the paddle boat or kayak, but used the fishing poles.

All in all, a solid rental and would visit again.

Owner's Response: We always appreciate thoughtful reviews as they help us to understand what our guests enjoyed most, and things we could improve upon. For all our existing and future guests, amenities for the guest house do not include a kayak but a paddle boat, measuring cups and a few wine glasses as mentioned in this review should be on the property and I will check as to what happened to these. As well, we will look into servicing the refrigerator. For informational purposes only to those who have not yet stayed with us, we kindly instruct our guests to contact the Maintenance Supervisor for anything missing or problems with the accommodations. He is always quick to address and resolve any problems as soon as is feasible. Again, we are grateful for the thoughtful time and consideration in review postings and look forward to having you return to The Evergreen Pines Country Estate at your next vacation!

Fabulous getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed a beautiful weekend at this lovely home. Complete privacy and the grounds are breathtaking. The photos for this listing don't do the property justice. It's a fabulous place, has a great kitchen and comfy bedrooms. I especially fell in love with the fireplace and lighting fixtures. Can't wait to go back again!!

My dream home...found!

  • 5 of 5

I cannot say enough good things about this little slice of heaven just miles outside of New York City. We went there for a long weekend with three other couples and had the most magical "fall" weekend I could have ever imagined....I should start by saying I've been seeking a 'Vermont-esque' place to go during the Fall time for years close to New York City but have yet to find somewhere that does the trick...until now.

Not only is the house beautifully decorated (think mahogany, plaid, fireplaces, large chandeliers, handsome pieces of antique furniture) but it is large enough that each couple felt like they were on their own mini-vacation! We were able to gather in one of the many common areas but also spend time in our own areas without feeling that anyone else was even on the same property.

We spent the weekend antiquing in Hudson, cooking HUGE meals in the gourmet kitchen (and I found the kitchen to be perfectly stocked with appliances, utensils, etc), walking the grounds, sitting by one of the many fireplaces, and enjoying cards or boardgames from the game room.

It was a perfect escape...I was frankly thrilled to not have WiFi access and would have been disappointed to spend the weekend connected when I was surrounded by such beautiful nature!

We are planning to come back this winter for a more romantic getaway but I also think this would be a perfect place to come during the summer season...tennis courts, a pool, pond... a great place all around!

I would highly recommend this house to anyone seeking an escape from the chaos of the city and wanting to disconnect, relax, and enjoy nature. Our weekend was certainly full of laughter, love and memories.
