About Kathleen Holmes
Kathleen is a visual artist and writer; Lou is a professional theatre director and producer. We love Florida living, particularly dear, sweet, funky Lake Worth. We also love good food, good wine, good friends, and good dogs!! We feel blessed to live in such a great area and enjoy sharing it with travelers from around the world.
Kathleen Holmes purchased this Studio in 2010
Why Kathleen Holmes chose South Palm Park Neighborhood Association
We have lived in Lake Worth for over 20 years, and finally were able to get a 1924 fixer upper on the water. As with houses of this vintage, the renovation is never really done, but we love the process. The garden has been especially rewarding to create - it's becoming a tropical paradise. Sunrises and moon rises over the lake are a lovely reward for all the hard work!
What makes this Studio unique
For probably 350 days of the year we are blessed with breezes right off the Atlantic Ocean, so even in summer, there is usually a cool breeze, especially in the evening.

My favorite rental ever!!
Thus was not my first stay in Tarasita and it for sure won't be my last! The apartment, the gardens, the pool, the dock, the lake - it's all just perfect, and Kathleen and Lou are the coolest hosts ever. When this studio was not available, I stayed at one of their five other equally wonderful places, and yet this is my favorite. I will be back!
Thanks again, as always, Kew - you are the best!!
Wonderful accomodations and wonderful hosts!! Was perfect for 2 people
Thanks Joe and Pete - we hope to see you again for next year's spring training!! xxoo
Wonderful place, peaceful and charming. Great hosts.
Thanks so much, Christine and Rick! We look forward to seeing you next March. xxoo
Magical Garden Paradise
The pictures hardly do this place justice - it is a truly magical retreat! The sun-filled studio has everything you need, and there are laundry facilities downstairs. We loved the luscious garden everywhere, the pool, the dock - it was just the quiet beautiful getaway we were looking for, and then some. Kathleen and Lou are awesome hosts, helpful yet unobtrusive. We hated to leave and will definitely be back ASAP.
Like Coming Home
This was our third stay at Tarasita. Kathleen welcomed us like visiting friends, and we felt as if we were returning home. Everything was wonderful -- the kitchen was well stocked (including some treats for us), the tropical grounds were beautiful, and we enjoyed the natural light streaming in from all the windows. Our two Golden Retrievers also enjoyed their Florida vacation, especially the fenced yard overlooking the intercoastal waterway.
A Comfort Home
I have stayed here before – I come to visit my aging mother several times a year. The best part of my trip is the comfort and sense of home I feel in this place. The hosts are always warm and welcoming and the quiet is amazing - I sleep great here. I will be back as long as they will have me!
Lake Worth is a charming old resort town on the Intracoastal Waterway and one bridge away from the Atlantic Ocean beach. Downtown Lake Worth is filled with small locally owned bars, restaurants with indoor and outdoor dining, antique and other shops, live music, outdoor festivals, and a municipal golf course. There is a Starbucks. Ours is a quiet pedestrian and bike friendly neighborhood with constant tropical breezes. The intracoastal / lake is a mile wide here; at night, the lights from the buildings across the way make for as lovely a vista as there is during the day. Wading birds, pelicans, and the occasional manatee add to the natural beauty.
